Hey Hey we're the Whiteheads, a pre trip report

"Well if you had to turn it on, don't you think you would've turned it on to at least be in the high 70's to maybe mid 80's? :confused3 "

no that would be the weather back home. it was in the 70's and 80's the whole week we were gone
this week it was in the high 80's and even hit 91 on Thursday I think the town next to us was like one of the highest if not the highest temps nationwide. they took the reading on the shores of our lake (lake elsinore) and that is about 2 or three miles away/

too funny tman, lance says thanks for the song, he feels honored that he got one of your diddies just for him.

When I look back at it all I can't help but ponder our thinking. Seriously we were worried something might go wrong on or shortly after a coaster. He had waited for a very long time and the matterhorn and radiator springs racers were about as daring as he felt safe doing for the first year after the stroke. So when we started considering this trip he said he would play it safe for a few more months until we got to WDW. Because nothing says great vacation like having another episode on a coaster. but heck if you are going to end up in the hospital at least be having fun right? hey what did you get on your trip? oh a fun ambulance ride but heck ee was amazing. *thumping myself in the head*
but seriously the effects of the stroke were pretty minimal and he has made a great recovery except his memory is not all that great.

and I agree those specials need to be updated. they are really old.

hey thanks for following along MHSweb79. a cruise sounds so fun. but after a couple of trips to wdw and many trips to our local house of mouse and staying on property lance pretty much has become a disney
fan. whenever we go to any other park we just compare it to Disney and they always seem to come up a bit short. Even with all the mb glitches we still had great service. I think it was more of a training issue. and when you think about it training all those cm has to be a nightmare. THe guest service folks were all trying to help.
hi marita yeah they are starting to work ok now and I will say this when you are returning to your room with your hands full the bands quite spiffy to get that door open.

"Sorry Lance. You're a trooper and we're glad you made it all this way. Too bad you can't come in with us. We'll meet up with you later though."

aww I wouldn't be completely heartless I would leave him with a bowl of kibble and a bowl of water..:rolleyes1

well as much as I would like to knock out the next chapter life has a way of happening. nothing bad just busy. and tomorrow we are going to the disneyana expo. and yesterday I needed to drive up to beautiful downtown Burbank to pick up a prize I won from an LA radio station. long long drive but I had the day off due to president;s weekend so off I went. I even got to see the Disney studios from the freeway. I also realized why I live out here in the sticks, traffic just stinks.
today was spent on yard work and planting some tomatoes and stuff. Just hope we got rid of the nasty gopher that was tearing our yard apart and eating everything in site.

things I think: traffic is just nasty. I really do not know how folks can do that LA traffic every day and not go postal/
gophers are not the cute little dancing rodents we remember from the caddy shack movie. and I hope that guy we hired to blow him to smitherins got the job done.
think this disneyana thing might be cool tomorrow and a nice way to give us our Disney fix till next weekend.

We let Randy pick which park we hit for our first rope drop since he had never been before. He chose this one because he had seen a travel channel show about it.

What? What kind of scientific, over analyzed, all factors considered, way to pick is that?

And you call yourself a DISer?

Just kidding.

We really like this park and lance was anxious to visit EE for a chance to "get back in the coaster saddle" again.

T Man beat me to it.

After some coffee and a visit to the DSA in the courtyard outside our room we turned on the local weather.

Just what, exactly, were you doing in the DSA that you got the weather turned on?

I know Florida is hot, but hot and bothered?

high 40's to mid 50's.

Or.... not so hot.

what I thought this was florida.

Disney Antarctica.

So being the tough Californians that we are we layer up get out the gloves and shiver all the way to the bus stop.

Heh.
We remove layers when it gets nice and warm like 40 or 50.

We make it to the park in good time and grab a pic out front.

Good times. Good times.

Dynomite!

Whoops!

Lance is really trying hard to keep up since he had only been walking on his leg for about a week but so far so good.

Sounds like Lance is a trouper.

we press the mickey on our magic band to the mickey on the post..... boom baby we are in. all of us yeah. you would have thought we had just hit the lotto. The cm just looked at us like we were nuts. Lance told her you should have been with us yesterday, ::yes::

:lmao: Did you get an eye roll too?

:headache: well as you must have figured out I lost half of my update

Hate it when that happens.
We've all done it. Welcome to the club.

we left off where we were hooting like we had been told to come on down at the price is right.

New car hooting or La-Z-Boy recliner hooting?

lance and I took the stroller and went a bit slower.

Oh? I thought he was walking now.
Okay, you put him in a stroller.
Please continue.

when we got past the oasis we ran into "those people" the ones who just stop in the dead center of the walkway and gape at the tree of life.

My favorite kind of folk.
Oblivious.
"Um. Excuse me? I realize that you're clueless, but there's about 2000 people behind you trying to get by."

really is it so hard to step off to the side to gape?

Apparently... yes.

No problem we just went over to the safari. it was a walk on, now randy is getting the picture about rope drop and why we get up early for the parks.

::yes::
But the only problem with that is they never really, really understand.
I remember going as a kid and waiting 90 minutes for space mtn.
The next time, I went with a friend. I used the touring plan from the UOG.

He wasn't happy with sticking to a plan.

Then again, he only had to wait.... zero minutes for Space. (It was a walk on)

:sad2:

had to stop for a mother giraffe nursing her baby, that was actually really cool to get to see.

That's actually pretty awesome.

they finally got rid of that poacher babble also.

Good. It was pretty ... dumb.

I'm not going to lie here I was really pretty nervous but lance made it through and had no issues other than lugging that heavy boot on his leg but no dizziness or light headedness.

Good!

a cinnamon roll that was HUGE.

How huge? We talking Princess Leia huge?

Scarlett found out that cream cheese icing is pretty good (when her mom wasn't looking)

scarlett didn't scream actually she really liked the whole process and made cute for the characters and the photog.

Aw. That's good. My DDs weren't too sure about characters when they were that little.

went in and watched them change a duct tape cast on a bird's wing (no kidding duct tape! I now believe it when they say it can fix anything)

Really?
You'd think it would be something high-tech.
Interesting.

scarlett was rather bored I guess she figured these animals did not compare to the two huge rodents earlier.

Well, she has a point.

"Pappa" wanted check out the stuffies so he can get scarlett a present, because of course the poor thing doesn't have enough stuffed animals already *insert eye roll here"

"Pappa" is right.

"dad you can't buy her something already, blah blah blah spoiling the granddaughter blah blah blah.

Well what are grandkids for?

all in good fun I mean heck what are grandbabies for anyway, right?

That's what I just said!

shawndell even brought up how "when I was a kid we had to wait until towards the end of the trip in case we saw something else we liked and here we are on the first day" blah blah blah,

:lmao: That's pretty much how I was with my kids.

Thankfully shawndell had brought these really nifty straps that could be put around poor nala's neck and hooked on to the stroller so we did not have to worry about nala trying to escape. (wish they had had those when my kids were little would have saved on a lot of stooping to pick up run away toys)

Now you tell me. :sad2:

we were getting hungry again so I suggested flame tree. well actually pressed the point. I had never eaten there before and always regretted it

Yeah, that's on my list too.
Just curious... but did you insist because of Nebo's TRs?

by now we were really cold and lance's leg was throbbing pretty bad so we decided to head back for a rest before heading out to epcot tonight.

Like I said. Lance is a trouper.

man you can sure tell the snow birds out here they are playing around in the main pool walking around in shorts etc.

Yup. Toldja. Layers come off.

Met a nice family from Conn. they were killing time and trying to figure out if they were going to make it home.

Whoops. Sorry. Zoned out there for a sec.
So you met a con who was a killer but was making a break for home.
Got it.

they told me about another family that had pretty much rebook for almost a week due to weather in Canada. holy cow.

Trust me. I don't blame them.

"yeah we were one of those horror stories but they seem to be fine now"

uh, oh. You didn't just jinx it, did you?

things I think:
I think that entry is much quicker with the magic bands

(when they work)

I think that we had a goldilocks experience with cast members fixing our bands an finally got one that was just right.
I think I take our southern California weather for granted....

::yes::

I think since we are flying through Chicago I may want to keep an eye on the weather reports in case another storm starts making its way across the country at the end of the week.
I think we are liking this grandparent job and getting baby girl her first dis goodie from wdw was awesome. yes we are like the grandparents in that bit bill cosby did back in the 90's
I think we will be hearing a lot of stories about being stuck and unable to get home due to weather before the week is out.

I think I really like the "I think" part of the TR, too.
Thanks for the update! :goodvibes

What did you win?

Didn't you read? A trip to beautiful downtown Burbank. In traffic.

I have to agree, loving the whole "What Queen Bee Thinks" section! Nickle for your thoughts (we don't have pennies up here anymore).

Oh well I was trying to win Disneyland tickets for the kids but instead won a 200 dollar gift card to a fancy schmancy day spa. Never been to one of those so this will be an experience. I got a price list with the gift card and holy smokes those places are expensive. Going to take the mother in law and we can get pedicures.

so where did I leave off:
oh yes we had taken a rest break and it was time to head out to EPCOT. again we layer up to head out and got there really quickly. I had made some fp+ and here is yet another gripe about this system.
they give you a screen that says pick one from each group.

the first list is the headliners, soaring, test track, mission spew
and the rest of the list is for rides that usually don't have much of a wait in my experience. also you can get a fp+ for reserved seating for illuminations.

you can only get one fast pass for an e ticket ride, while I understand the need to equally distribute the fast passes and still have some space left for guests who can't get their fp until they get to the park, I do question why they put stuff like nemo and space ship earth and maelstrom as options.
In my experience it seems that these can be walked on for the most part depending on the time of day.
But yet these are there and I guess they are fillers/ But I had gotten fp
for I think nemo, mission space and illuminations. I also have rarely had to wait much longer than 15 minutes for mission space. get a fp for test track before we left because there just not any decent times that would fit into the hours we were going to be there that night.
But fear not remember that nice cm from the first day? so we now had fp for test track also
as we were walking in there were some great topiaries of thumper and flower from bambi. yes I took a pic of everyone's favorite bunnie but I think we all know how it works out when I try to post pics. :rolleyes1 so hopefully I can get those into a future chapter. if the son in law (e has been working crazy hours) can't come by and give me a tutorial I will just have to find a 6 year old to help me post them:rotfl:
anyway randy never knew you could really ride inside the ball I guess he thought it was like an entrance or something, so we hit that first and then moved on to try out these extra fast passes that were attached to our magic bands. we head up there and get a baby swap pass and shawndell and randy head onto the new and improved test track. once the fast pass worked Lance and I were like, "yeah whatever they did a rehab on it but the ride is just so so at best. so you guys go first" then we went into mouse gears to avoid the freeze that was setting in.
They came out and really really liked it, My daughter was blown away at how much better this ride is now. So now we head up to the fast pass entrance and they see the stroller and give lance and I a baby swap (woo hoo this could be a nice bonus for having the world's cutest grandbaby with us because we now have 2 of these)
ok we kinda himmmm and hawwww and the kids tell us we really need to try this ride we go on expecting bumpy roads, heat lamps and the like and man oh man were we surprised, first the magic bands work, we get a couple of baby passes and then this new version...... a....maze...ing! :woohoo:the only thing I wish is that they had done this sooner. much much better.

the kids wanted to go on mission space so off they went and we hung out at the exit with miss scarlett while she hit the bottle. we decided o pass on this one and went back to use our baby swap passes on test track. then off to dinner at that place by soaring on the bottom floor.
the food there is ok and the desserts are really good. but whatever it was we had wasn't that remarkable or I would have remembered to at least jot it down.
a quick trip on living with the land and lance was ready to call it a night. it was really cold the kids stayed and walked around the world showcase (we had missed illuminations but I figure we can get another fp for that later in the week when it is not 40 degrees out)
Once the old folks got back to the room we made a hot chocolate run to the food court, and turned on the local news to see what tomorrow's weather had in store for us. Not exactly Florida weather again. expecting highs in the mid 30's:scared1::scared1::scared1: I swear I am not making this up. it seems that everytime the whiteheads go to WDW there is extreme weather that sets records and this time is no exception.

we haven't yet run into anything thrilling (unless you can call an artic blast in the face thrilling) other than the fact that the magic bands seem to be working and this newer version of test track is really pretty cool. :surfweb:so this is a pretty boring trip report.
so while you are on the edge of your seats I am gonna leave you hanging yeah I know you can hardly stand the suspense can ya?
we have been taking care of a finishing off a project that we had started before the leg incident
we had to replace the wood from our 40 foot planter with those stacking bricks and today we had to fill that bi thing up with dirt and potting mix so I am pretty tired/ so off to bed early because tomorrow we are taking little miss scarlett for her first trip to the original house of mouse. Those people she lives with are going to go out for brunch while we get to have some fun with her. (both daughter and son in law had that cold/ flu bug last week so this is their valentine's celebration)
have a great night folks and thanks for reading

things I think:
I think they did a great job with test track much nicer than the first version in my humble opinion
I think that Lance really expected too much for this leg of his and try as he might we can tell he is hurting pretty much
I think I should have brought my thermals with me (yes we have those here in so cal how else do you think we get by on those 50 degree days we get 6 or 7 times a day)
I think the fp system as it stands now is intended for folks who don't realize that you will be getting fast passes for rides that are walk ons
I think they are trying to make it look like all these rides have huge lines all the time I guess it is for folks who have never been there.
I think I am warming up to the magic band system for the most part as for the fact that you don't have to fish for a key when you get back to the room. for those of us that are the family sherpas this is actually pretty cool

Finally have a chance to comment!
I read it the day you posted (okay... might've been the next day... so sue me) but haven't had time 'til now.

Oh well I was trying to win Disneyland tickets for the kids but instead won a 200 dollar gift card to a fancy schmancy day spa.

Well, that's still pretty darn good!
Unless the cheapest thing at this spa is $400...

again we layer up to head out and got there really quickly.

Following along.
You layered up to your head.
Gotcha.

also you can get a fp+ for reserved seating for illuminations.

Is it actual seats? Or just a preferred place to stand?

I do question why they put stuff like nemo and space ship earth and maelstrom as options.
In my experience it seems that these can be walked on for the most part depending on the time of day.

I guess if you absolutely know when you want to ride those ones... and don't want to risk having to wait five minutes...

as we were walking in there were some great topiaries of thumper and flower from bambi. yes I took a pic of everyone's favorite bunnie but I think we all know how it works out when I try to post pics. :rolleyes1

Really well?
Fabulously?
Spectacularly?

No?...

I will just have to find a 6 year old to help me post them:rotfl:

::yes::

anyway randy never knew you could really ride inside the ball I guess he thought it was like an entrance or something,

Actually.... I'm sure he's not the only one.

Lance and I were like, "yeah whatever they did a rehab on it but the ride is just so so at best. so you guys go first"

That was what I thought, too.

They came out and really really liked it, My daughter was blown away at how much better this ride is now.

Huh. Wasn't expecting that.

(woo hoo this could be a nice bonus for having the world's cutest grandbaby with us because we now have 2 of these)

You have two of the world's cutest grandbaby?

Yes, I'm kidding.

we go on expecting bumpy roads, heat lamps and the like and man oh man were we surprised, first the magic bands work, we get a couple of baby passes and then this new version...... a....maze...ing! :woohoo:the only thing I wish is that they had done this sooner. much much better.

Really???
I had not heard that!
I didn't even know they'd re-done the ride.
I thought it was just the pre-ride stuff.

then off to dinner at that place by soaring on the bottom floor.

Sunshine Seasons.

the food there is ok and the desserts are really good.

Been there.
Agree.

it was really cold the kids stayed and walked around the world showcase (we had missed illuminations but I figure we can get another fp for that later in the week when it is not 40 degrees out)

40 degrees??? Nice!

What? :confused3

Once the old folks got back to the room we made a hot chocolate run to the food court,

That's a good way to get the chill out of your bones!

Not exactly Florida weather again. expecting highs in the mid 30's:scared1::scared1::scared1:

Seriously?

Okay. That.... sucks.

I swear I am not making this up. it seems that everytime the whiteheads go to WDW there is extreme weather that sets records and this time is no exception.

Note to self.
Do not plan Florida trip when Betsey's there.

we haven't yet run into anything thrilling (unless you can call an artic blast in the face thrilling)

I might use another word.
But if you wanna use "thrilling".... fine by me.

other than the fact that the magic bands seem to be working and this newer version of test track is really pretty cool. :surfweb:so this is a pretty boring trip report.

nope.

so while you are on the edge of your seats I am gonna leave you hanging yeah I know you can hardly stand the suspense can ya?

OMG! Cliffhanger!!!!

I think they did a great job with test track much nicer than the first version in my humble opinion

I wasn't really caring about TT.... but now I'd really like to see what they've done.

I think that Lance really expected too much for this leg of his and try as he might we can tell he is hurting pretty much

Poor guy. Like I said before. Sounds like a trouper.

I think I should have brought my thermals with me (yes we have those here in so cal how else do you think we get by on those 50 degree days we get 6 or 7 times a day)

:sad2:

I think the fp system as it stands now is intended for folks who don't realize that you will be getting fast passes for rides that are walk ons

Interesting.

I think I am warming up to the magic band system for the most part as for the fact that you don't have to fish for a key when you get back to the room. for those of us that are the family sherpas this is actually pretty cool

I thought it was a huge plus that all I had to carry was my room key/card.
Not having to even carry that would be great.

Can you charge things to your room on the bands too?

Thanks for the chapter! :goodvibes

I think they are trying to make it look like all these rides have huge lines all the time I guess it is for folks who have never been there.

I noticed this when we were there last fall. Many, many walk-on rides had posted wait times of 20-30 minutes. I finally figured out that they were over-stating the nonexistent wait so that people wouldn't be mad that they burned their FP's on a walk-on. But with the new tiered system I guess you don't have much choice. (Maybe they should come up with a "comfort station" FP that lets you jump the line in the ladies' room? I'd go for that! (pun intended).)

Had to laugh at the picture my brain conjured up when I read :rotfl:"Miss Scarlett hits the bottle."

As for the weather, you Californians don't know cold. This morning when I got up for work it was 1.6 degrees F. No, not "16" I really mean higher than 1 but not quite 2 degrees. Maybe not so cold for our friends the Canadians but here in RI that's pretty cold. So I would take 30's at WDW any day!

We (by that I mean I) decided not to renew our AP's this year and instead we are cruising to Alaska. I think the FP+ growing pains will ultimately help the MHSWeb family see some other parts of the world, and that's a good thing, right? (Although DH has been bugging me about going to F&W Fest in the fall for our 30th anniversary. He's cunning, that one - he knows how much I love the F&W Fest!)

Well happy Friday Eve everyone. still working on the next chapter but it is almost done, also need to do shout outs "out out out" :rotfl2:jeeze I crack myself up get it shout outs?? *crickets crickets* ok fine then

well we ware finally getting some weather out here and as expected the little bit of rain we had last night and this morning has caused a bloody mess. We just cannot drive in any kind of weather. out here I guess we figure that the harder it rains the faster we need to drive don't know why and when you add that with no idea on how to handle slick roads. Tomorrow should be really interesting the storm we are expecting made national news. somewhat embarrassing wen you figure what the continent has had to deal with. But we are on mud slide watch out here also.
we have had some fires so that causes mud slides when the rain hits. One of the places is up the road from me. so we might have an interesting day at work tomorrow since our school is the designated evac center for that area.
so we are going to hunker down this weekend celebrate lance's birthday watching marvel movies (fine with me those guys are easy on the eyes) and post the next chapter in the adventures we had
take care and stay warm and yes you can snicker at us whining about our bit of weather. really I admit it I am a sissy weather wise

Must be some chapter. That or you picked up our bad habit of posting one chapter a month.

I think: New chapter, please!

On another note, 12 degrees F this morning. Last year at this time my daffodils were about 6" high.

On yet another note, we are booked to go back to WDW in September for a few days of F&W Festival fun! So I'm back to checking the DISBoards almost daily, as well as Josh's site at easywdw.com. And, of course, the trip reports!

FORZEN no not the movie just us

Well today we are heading out to the studios. We will have to recoup the plans that got scratched on Sunday not so fun day, but since it is an early entry day and we have some fp+ for things that both the guys want to do we should be fine/

First we need to check the weather hoping that what we heard last night was a bad dream.
Nope weather man says today will be the coldest on record for this day in florida. :scared::scared: 32 degrees but with the wind chill factor (:confused3what is that anyway we don't hear that too often at home) should feel like the low 20's:crazy2:
Shawndell and I had been checking the weather forecast before we left and knew it would be chilly so we had packed gloves and hats/hairbands but the guys pr
etty much said, "gloves we don't neeed no stinking gloves and beanies naw.
So after dressing again like the little kid in Christmas story, we check to see if we can put our arms down, and head out to the food court for hot coffee lots of hot coffee and lance and randy head over to the gift shop to purchase beanies and gloves guess they should have listened to their wives but what is a trip to WDW if you don't get to spend 20 bucks for a hat and gloves that you could have gotten for around 8 bucks at walmart back home right?

We made it to the studios for early entry and headed straight to rocking rolling coaster and tower of terror,
walked on rocking roller coaster and we all took turns and got a few rides and then it was time for the old folks to stop in a dsa and have a breath of not so fresh air and the kids went and used the band to make sure the ride pics were loaded onto our memory maker/.
Then it was time for the kids to go on tower of terror. this will be the first coast to coast comparison for the son in law. and since it is my first tr I will put my two cents in on this.
Lance and I have been on this quite a few times as had shawndell, but we let the kids go on while we waited inside with little missy and tried to thaw out a bit, but we did have a baby swap for later.
now I must admit when we got our tower of terror out here we were so amazed at how fun it was, after we went on the one at WDW we like ours and love the WDW version. much better all around.

scanned the band for the ride pic and it was off to toy story for our first fp of the day. those rides are exactly the same on both coasts. except the line area and wdw has a much better area. we went in through fast pass and did not see much of it though but it still is much better than ours/
out here it is outside and other than mr. potato head we have none of the cool stuff like back there.
by now we are getting hungry so we headed over to starring rolls for a bite to eat. shawndell had never eaten here before as we did not discover it until 2009 the kids were amazed at the cupcakes. a great counter service big sandwich and huge cupcake oh heck yeah. we shared our plate while the kids each grabbed a meal they had the turkey and butterfinger cupcake and chocolate peanut butter. we had our usual turkey and chocolate peanut butter. love those cupcakes,
our next fast passes were for the indiana stunt show and I wanted a hot coffee to take with me so I went back into starring rolls and paid cash for a cup. I checked my receipt and there was a coupon for 20 percent off at .select gift shops that day. I checked my receipt from the day before at animal kingdom and it said the same thing :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:
so I now had 2 of these so since we had a bit of time before the show we hit the stores (it was warmer in there anyway right?) scored some pretty good deals and so did the kids (randy has three nieces and they wanted to grab some stuff for them) so they used my other coupon, we had the stuff sent to the resort and off we went to Indy.
We were starting to get so cold the fun part was rapidly slipping away but we soldiered on and went to grab our seats.
we don't have anything like this out here and it is fun but I would like to see it updated sometime. but lance really likes this show and it was warmer in there than out side popcorn::so we watch the show randy liked it and was glad he saw it. he had also seen this on a special. when the explosions went off the whole crowd seemed happy for the brief warmth the blast put out.
Off to light motors action our last fp of the morning/day we were so cold by then we just wanted to see this and head back to the room. Lance was really starting to favor his leg also. but off we went to the back of the park where we caught a break er so to speak/ We were routed to the far side of the stadium and they were herding er uh leading the crowd to a rather large flight of stairs. Lance puts his arm around me and whispers in my ear..... don't think I can do all these stairs. about that time randy sees a CM and asks them if there is a way to get in that does not require all those stairs and she sees lance and says come this way. leads us around the front up a ramp and straight to front row center in the handicapped area, she said just sit here. That was a wonderful surprise. Now before you think us shameless, there was only one other party that was using any of those seats as due to the artic blast Orlando was getting the crowd was really low. I have never seen this show with so few people.
THey did leave out the jet skis on this run and I must say I cannot blame them. when they introduced the driver from Brazil the place went wild. It is that time of year and I think it was nice for them to see a guy from home in the show.
after the show we were done with the fun. it was just too darn cold we were going to try the mediocre movie ride but decided to pass and just head back.
time to raise up the leg for a bit and warm up.
when we got back to cbr we got off at the stop by the food court and went in and pounded down hot coffee /chocolate and went back to the room. little miss scarlett is loving the adjoined room deal. whe has been crawling back and forth between rooms. she would pull herself up on the bed and giggle. so many grown ups to snuggle with.
after a nap it was time to figure out dinner lance didn't want to do a whole lot of walking and was still not wanting to rent a chair or scooter so Randy suggested pucks at DTD since that is pretty close to the bus stop. Shawndell even said she had a gray scarf he could use. so off we went. as we were getting off the bus in DTD Shawndell started fixing the scarf that lance had borrowed. Lance told her don't worry about it if the tag is hanging out no big deal, I looked at the tag and said "Lance let her fix it" "why is it such a big deal, I mean it is just a big scarf and it is keeping me warm" " you do realize that the tag say Motherhood maternity nursing scarf right" so he decided to let her fix it, that is after we finally stopped laughing.
we had another great meal at pucks and then we went to the Christmas store to see if we could find Scarlett an angel Minnie ornament for next Christmas. when shawndell was little I got her an angel minnie and she wanted scarlett to have one too and they also got a family ornament.
we tried to stick it out and walk around a bit. heck it was so cold one of our favorite watering holes *or should I say shack* was closed. we just decided to head back.
we have a reservation for chef mickeys for breakfast and lance made a reservation for whispering canyon for our anniversary in the evening. since this was going to be our no park day. figured we could check out some of the resorts but since we lost our first day we were able to hit a park tomorrow so might as well hit epcot and take the monorail around the loop.

Things I think:
I think that when your wife says "honey let's get you some gloves and a beanie for the trip" while you are the clearance rack at walmart before you leave you should listen to her
I think that WDW has done a great job on their tot. ours is just a shadow of theirs. but we will make due with ours between trips:rolleyes1
I also think that when your nursing daughter lends you a scarf you should let someone else help you put it on so the tag is inside:rotfl:
I think it was great to get a coupon on my receipts and will check them from now on
I think that next time I am here in winter I will bring some sugar free instant hot chocolate with me. (I have to watch my blood sugar)
I figure I should have run into elsa from frozen by now since it seems this is her kind of weather:rotfl:

Night everyone!

Thanks for the update. I'll reply more later. Need to think how I can berate this chapter. I mean comment on this chapter.

LOL on the wind chill comment. I live in New England and believe me, when the weather guys start talking "wind chill" it's NEVER a good thing. What it means is that if it's 28 degrees with a 30 MPH breeze, the wind chill factor makes it feel like 6 degrees. I, for one, would love to hear them say in August, "Well, it's 96 degrees out, but with the wind chill factor, it'll only feel like 92!" :rotfl:

they had the turkey and butterfinger cupcake

Starring Rolls has some strange cupcake flavors nowadays. I'll have the Pastrami and Oreo, please.

I think: You should have packed the gloves and beanies and not told them. That way when they needed them you could have given them a great big "TOLD you so!!!!" and also pocketed the $12 difference.

We will have to recoup the plans that got scratched on Sunday not so fun day,

Ya know? I'm still ticked about that.
You lost a day in the parks (Partial or otherwise)!

Nope weather man says today will be the coldest on record for this day in florida. :scared::scared: 32 degrees but with the wind chill factor (:confused3what is that anyway we don't hear that too often at home) should feel like the low 20's:crazy2:

Yikes! I joke about how cold it is up here.... but that's up here!
Florida is not supposed to be like that.
And when I'm there, it better not be!

As for windchill, MHSweb already covered it.
Another way of looking at it is this:

You know how when it's really hot out (think 100F or thereabouts), how a cool breeze feels nice?
The temperature is the same, but it feels cooler?

Now take the opposite.
If it's really cold out, it's not too bad if there's no wind.
But add a breeze and it feels way, way colder out.

Shawndell and I had been checking the weather forecast before we left and knew it would be chilly so we had packed gloves and hats/hairbands but the guys pr
etty much said, "gloves we don't neeed no stinking gloves and beanies naw.

Of course not.
We're men. We can tough it out!

Until, of course, we start actually having to tough it out... then we want our mommies.

So after dressing again like the little kid in Christmas story, we check to see if we can put our arms down, and head out to the food court for hot coffee lots of hot coffee

and lance and randy head over to the gift shop to purchase beanies and gloves guess they should have listened to their wives but what is a trip to WDW if you don't get to spend 20 bucks for a hat and gloves that you could have gotten for around 8 bucks at walmart back home right?

RIGHT!

walked on rocking roller coaster

Really? You didn't ride it?
Cool!

and since it is my first tr I will put my two cents in on this.

Inflation has that up to a nickle now, ya know.

now I must admit when we got our tower of terror out here we were so amazed at how fun it was, after we went on the one at WDW we like ours and love the WDW version. much better all around.

Interesting.
What makes it so much better?
The ride? Or the theming? Both? Something else?

by now we are getting hungry so we headed over to starring rolls for a bite to eat. shawndell had never eaten here before as we did not discover it until 2009 the kids were amazed at the cupcakes.

I've never eaten there either. Sounds like it's pretty good.

since we had a bit of time before the show we hit the stores (it was warmer in there anyway right?) scored some pretty good deals and so did the kids (randy has three nieces and they wanted to grab some stuff for them) so they used my other coupon, we had the stuff sent to the resort and off we went to Indy.

Sounds like the coupons did their job.
Or would you have shopped for as much, regardless?

we don't have anything like this out here and it is fun but I would like to see it updated sometime.

Nah. No need to update.
The last time I saw it was in 1992.
I don't remember it all, so why change?

:rolleyes1:

when the explosions went off the whole crowd seemed happy for the brief warmth the blast put out.

 I could just see the crowd leaning in everytime there is one.

Lance was really starting to favor his leg also.

Yeah. I would imagine that the cold wouldn't help it any.

but off we went to the back of the park where we caught a break er so to speak/ We were routed to the far side of the stadium and they were herding er uh leading the crowd to a rather large flight of stairs.

Herding is fine.

moo

Lance puts his arm around me and whispers in my ear..... don't think I can do all these stairs. about that time randy sees a CM and asks them if there is a way to get in that does not require all those stairs and she sees lance and says come this way. leads us around the front up a ramp and straight to front row center in the handicapped area, she said just sit here. That was a wonderful surprise.

I don't know why I'm surprised whenever I read about pixie dust moments like that.

Maybe because they're so rare outside of Disney.

Now before you think us shameless, there was only one other party that was using any of those seats as due to the artic blast Orlando was getting the crowd was really low.

Nope. I think it's the perfect use of the space.

THey did leave out the jet skis on this run and I must say I cannot blame them.

Yup.

Should've used snowmobiles.

Or skates.

when we got back to cbr we got off at the stop by the food court and went in and pounded down hot coffee /chocolate and went back to the room.

And you didn't burn the roofs of your mouths?
Or was this more like, lukewarm chocolate?

little miss scarlett is loving the adjoined room deal. whe has been crawling back and forth between rooms. she would pull herself up on the bed and giggle. so many grown ups to snuggle with.

Aw. Sounds like she had lots of fun! :)

Randy suggested pucks at DTD since that is pretty close to the bus stop.

You can't say that to a Canadian without making him stop reading.

We will always think hockey pucks first.

Lance told her don't worry about it if the tag is hanging out no big deal, I looked at the tag and said "Lance let her fix it" "why is it such a big deal, I mean it is just a big scarf and it is keeping me warm" " you do realize that the tag say Motherhood maternity nursing scarf right"

:lmao:

How many shades of red did he turn?

we had another great meal at pucks

He shoots, he scores!

Sounds like a good day ahead... I hope?

Words of wisdom.

I think that next time I am here in winter I will bring some sugar free instant hot chocolate with me. (I have to watch my blood sugar)

I think you should also pack a portable heater.

Night everyone!

Thanks for the chapter! :goodvibes

:)

Bring it on bunny boy! ;) we need some humor and excitement here. so far this has to be one of the most boring tr's in dis history. that is what happens when the old folks go out

And, of course, the trip reports!
did you say 12 degrees? :scared1:yipes
congrats on booking f&w how fun that is going to be. that is on my bucket list. they have a pretty darn good swing band that usually closes the festival each year would love love love to go and see them and the food booths, oh and have a beer or two or three or....
