well as you must have figured out I lost half of my update so here is the rest of the first day
we left off where we were hooting like we had been told to come on down at the price is right.
once we had made it in shawndell and randy made a mad dash in while lance and I took the stroller and went a bit slower. and sure enough when we got past the oasis we ran into "those people" the ones who just stop in the dead center of the walkway and gape at the tree of life.

really is it so hard to step off to the side to gape? so we told shawndell and randy to move over and we took some pics.

we also tried to round up a photo pass photog but were told they would not be available until regular park hours. so off to Expidition Everest we went.
Lance and I had discussed going on the e ticket rides and he decided that since his last neurology check up was positive he would wait a bit more and try the e tickets at wdw. so we hustle back there and it was not running yet. No problem we just went over to the safari. it was a walk on, now randy is getting the picture about rope drop and why we get up early for the parks.
we saw quite a few animals and even had to stop for a mother giraffe nursing her baby, that was actually really cool to get to see. Nice thing about taking this ride early the animals are out and about. they finally got rid of that poacher babble also.
by the time we were done we got to Everest just as it was opening and between the baby swap we all got have a couple of rides due to the light crowds and swapping off with scarlett. I'm not going to lie here I was really pretty nervous but lance made it through and had no issues other than lugging that heavy boot on his leg but no dizziness or light headedness.
next stop was some snackie cakes. they have this walkup window I have been reading about for quite a while and they did have some great danishs and a cinnamon roll that was HUGE. Scarlett found out that cream cheese icing is pretty good (when her mom wasn't looking) and now that our blood sugar was nice and high we went out to the plant watch the train ride loaded pretty fast and pretty soon we were there checking out the place. we had one pit stop first so scarlett could meet her first characters. Chip and Dale were there and they had the photo pass people there too. time to try out the new memory maker. that means we have to use THOSE bands again but this went well scarlett didn't scream actually she really liked the whole process and made cute for the characters and the photog. chip even went after my daughter and tapped her n the shoulder so he could "kiss" scarlett who just giggled. the kid is a natural I tell ya.
went in and watched them change a duct tape cast on a bird's wing (no kidding duct tape! I now believe it when they say it can fix anything)
lance needed to rest up a bit so we took a stroll the the petting area where scarlett was rather bored I guess she figured these animals did not compare to the two huge rodents earlier.
after a while we were going to head out and "Pappa" wanted check out the stuffies so he can get scarlett a present, because of course the poor thing doesn't have enough stuffed animals already *insert eye roll here" so we hand her a nala. I told lance that whatever he handed her she would not let go. he tried to hand her another one but nope she wanted that nala so off we went to pay for it. seconds from a clean get away in come mom and dad. it was time for the grandpa to get mildly scolded. "dad you can't buy her something already, blah blah blah spoiling the granddaughter blah blah blah. all in good fun I mean heck what are grandbabies for anyway, right? shawndell even brought up how "when I was a kid we had to wait until towards the end of the trip in case we saw something else we liked and here we are on the first day" blah blah blah, for the record scarlett did not let that suffie out of her reach for the whole trip. Thankfully shawndell had brought these really nifty straps that could be put around poor nala's neck and hooked on to the stroller so we did not have to worry about nala trying to escape. (wish they had had those when my kids were little would have saved on a lot of stooping to pick up run away toys)
we were getting hungry again so I suggested flame tree. well actually pressed the point. I had never eaten there before and always regretted it
so off we went. Huge amounts of food here. Lance and I split a plate and were pretty full. by now we were really cold and lance's leg was throbbing pretty bad so we decided to head back for a rest before heading out to epcot tonight. after all we did get that "comp" fast pass for test track after loosing our first day (and missing the Osborne lights) (eyeroll )
so we head back and lance laid down for a bit and I made it out to the pool. pretty cold still but the hot tub was up and running. man you can sure tell the snow birds out here they are playing around in the main pool walking around in shorts etc. Met a nice family from Conn. they were killing time and trying to figure out if they were going to make it home. they told me about another family that had pretty much rebook for almost a week due to weather in Canada. holy cow.
also they asked me how I liked my magic band. for the most part they loved theirs but had run into folks and heard horror stories. so at this point I just nod and say "yeah we were one of those horror stories but they seem to be fine now" with that we chatted for a bit and I dried off and went to get some coffee in my cool and groovy refillable mug (now included in the dining plan since folks did not want to pony up 15 bucks a pop for them lol) next up
we freeze our way through future land
things I think:
I think that entry is much quicker with the magic bands
I think that we had a goldilocks experience with cast members fixing our bands an finally got one that was just right.
I think I take our southern California weather for granted....
I think since we are flying through Chicago I may want to keep an eye on the weather reports in case another storm starts making its way across the country at the end of the week.
I think we are liking this grandparent job and getting baby girl her first dis goodie from wdw was awesome. yes we are like the grandparents in that bit bill cosby did back in the 90's
I think we will be hearing a lot of stories about being stuck and unable to get home due to weather before the week is out.
