Hello, everyone!
It's after 11 on Saturday night, but I just wanted to send a quick hello from the Magic before we hit the hay. It has been an excellent trip so far. We donned our lime green shirts and looked for other DISers at the sailaway. We didn't see anyone, so we headed back to the stateroom to watch the ship leave from our verandah. We're in good old 5650, although it's strange because the stateroom art and comforter pattern are different and the couch is red instead of blue. It's sort of like comparing Disney World to Disneyland. :D
That delicious mango soup is still on the embarkation buffet. We ate in Lumieres tonight, and hubby was excited because they have the vegetarian vegetable stack (it's no longer on the Wonder). It is slightly different, but he still pronounced it delicious. Our server is Sasha from Croatia, so it's very easy for me to remember his name, since it's the same as our buddy from the Wonder. He brought us multiple desserts to sample, and they were all DELICIOUS!!! I'd better get on that treadmill tomorrow.
Tony had a seaweed wrap and I had a massage...the spa is the best way to kick off the cruise. They have a new treatment that I am trying later in the week, so I will give a full report. Just like the Wonder, they have been diligent so far in enforcing the sanctity of the adult pool. We spend a relaxing hour in the whirlpool over there before the safety drill. The seas are rocky tonight, but so far the weather has been nice and I'm hoping that it holds out for the ports. We're going to play it by ear in Key West, although we'll definitely be going to see the Catman.
That's enough for now, but I'll try to check in again tomorrow.

You are SO LUCKY to have Sasha. Please tell him we will see him next week. I have requested him... sure hope it works out! He's the best!

Is this an Eastern or Western trip? I can't ever keep track!

Hello Barb and tony - Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet this trip - seems like impossible anymore - Hope the trip goes very well with you both - remember all that I have preached about Key West - I love my hometown BUT I also know there are a lot of scams going on down there - there are no "locals" any longer - I went and saw the ship leave yesterday - Norm and I were at Rusty's waiting - she looked beautiful as she went by - the waters looked mighty rocky tho - anyhow have a wonderful time on the cruise and hope to meet up with ya next time.
Hugsssssss from us to you both
Love ya
Shirley

Since we will be on the July 19th Western, I am very much looking forward to this trip report! Thanks for checking in. Hope our paths might cross at one of the Chicago area DIS meets this summer.

Here is the Magic sailing by the port cam Saturday afternoon. Talk about your close-ups, WOW!!! Since you were on your verandah, you were on the other side of the ship, and everyone was looking for you topside. Have a MAGICal cruise, looking forward to reading your reports!!!

Andy

Hi Barb and Tony:wave:
If you like Key Lime Pie you've got to try a Key Lime Pie-Pop, you can find them at Blond Giraffe at 629 Duval Street. The Electric Cars are loads of fun and an easy way to get around Key West.

I hope you have a great time and great weather.

Happy Sailing:wave:

Great picture Andy! Have a great trip Barb & Tony! We need updates!!!! Hope your weather is good!

We NEED your reports up here in Pennsylvania.
It has rained forever and continues to rain.
We dream of the sunny days on the Magic or Wonder.
You can't imagine what your reports mean to everyone
sitting at home, waiting to sail again, or have sailed.
Thanks for taking the time. HAVE FUN!

This is Val (FOJMO) and we're on this cruise also. We didn't see any other DISers yesterday either. I hope to meet some of you before the end of the week.

Did Beth say if there was going to be a meeting time to see her Walt Disney Suite??? I don't know what you guys look like, so hopefully we'll get to meet sometime in the next 7 days.

We're planning on going to see the Catman tonight too.

In case you want to "pin us down", we have two teenaged girls with us -- our DD Carly is Asian (Korean) and her friend Courtney is black. (Sorry to be so blunt, but she's not African-American). Actually she's from Grenada.

But, that's an unique combination that might help you in identifying us.

We're having a great time so far! Hope to see ya later!

VAL (& STU, CARLY, & COURTNEY)

Barb,

Are you planning to pick up the most recent Navigators and post them on your site? Some are fairly current, but the kids Navigators are circa January.

Thanks, and looking forward to next sailing of the Magic's western itinerary June 7th.

Dana

Thanks for your report. Can't wait to hear about the new spa treatment. We'll be there next week!

Will be anxiously watching for any "live" reports and this trip report. We'll be there in a month.

Deb

Hey Guys! I hope the weather for you is better than the gloomy weather on the East Coast!!:jester:

I can't wait to hear what you think of the new menus...

I am jealous....I want to be where you are. Is Fidelio still in the Dueling Piano's Bar? Also have you heard anything about a third ship?

Thanks, have fun!!:smooth:

wow that was weird,, my trunk bay post came up here.. never mind:confused:

Hey Val, I think we might have seen you, but I'm not sure. I'm hoping that the meet is still on, and if not, we're hoping to see lots of DISers at the Castaway Club party. It should be a huge one, as I heard that there are well over 800 repeaters on this cruise. Our captain is Guus, so that is a first for us. We met him on a previous cruise when he was staff captain, and we met him this time when we were dropping off our luggage. We're hoping to get a photo with him so we can add him to the website on our captains page.
Shirley, we will be in touch as we are staying the weekend in Orlando and will have a rental car, so we're thinking of driving down to Port Canaveral. I'll drop you an email or give you a call. Things have been so busy, but we miss you guys! We visited the Hemingway House today, and I was thinking of "Papa" throwing rocks. :D
We also did the trolly and got off at the southernmost point so Tony could get a photo. I was tempted by the frozen key lime pie on a stick but opted for a key lime shake made with homemade ice cream. Mmmmmm! I prefer the trolley to the Conch Train because you can get off at various points and continue your trip later, and it also seemed to cover more territory.
The temp. is HOT HOT HOT!! It's a quarter to six now, and we're been off the ship since 12:30. We spent the morning in the Rainforest before disembarking, and Tony is there now while I catch up on my web surfing. Pugdog, I'll be sure to tell Sasha that you said hello! I can't remember the spelling of our head server's name, but I remember the pronunciation because it's just like cayan pepper (I know I'm spelling that wrong). Our assistant server made my black currant iced tea just the way I like it.
We're not sure what time the Catman's shows will be, so we'll disembark again later if we don't crash. Tonight is Animators Palate, and Morty is the show, but we'll be skipping that to bum around on the island. I can't wait to see Herc and Disney Dreams because we saw this cast when they had first gotten on the ship, and now this is their last week. My favorite Peter is in this cast (we've seen him before on the Wonder).
Everything has been so wonderful...er, magical. Even though the Wonder is our home, we've really been made to feel welcome. The crew is great! We had a cute little towel lobster last night, so we'll see what's waiting for us tonight. We might stay up for Match Your Mate or just crash early.
I'm really glad that we're in 5650, as there are lots of groups, which means more hallway traffic and people knocking on the doors of cabins, yelling back and forth, etc. We see them as we head to our stateroom, but in our little corner of the aft deck, things are so peaceful and quiet. We've been making time for some quality verandah time too. We had a nice breakfast out there this morning.
Well, that's enough babbling from me. I'll check in again later and share some more info. from our trip. I LOVE the Western...I sure wish that we could fit another one in next year. Since we have to cancel our January Wonder cruise, I'm going to have to see if I can make some creative use of our vacation days.

Hey Barb....hope we left the ship in good order for you guys!!! We had a great cruise on the 5/17 Eastern. Sorry to see Rick leave before you got there. He was awesome!! We really enjoyed him all week. Having Capt. Guus was a first for us as well and he was so personable. All the crew I talked to loves him!!!

Hope you have a wonderful week. Out weather last week was picture perfect!!! 85 and no humidity....a 10 minute rain shower in St. Thomas and that was it!!!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell Andrea and Quentin from the cruise staff that that we say hello!!!! Andrea (from Austrailia) is wonderful. They will remember us because we sailed with Andrea in January and we were the first family she had that has returned while she has been onboard. Quentin (from South Africa) will remember us because he kept thanking us for participating in most of the shows/activities!!! Andrea was also giving my DD Keri some tips on where to study aboard in Austraila. Tell them we miss them already and they made our week very special!!! Quentin plays Austin Powers at 70's night!!!!

My DD and her friend were judges at the Best Disney Legs Contest, they were also GO, GO's at 80's night and my son was in the John Travolta dance contest. Our friend was Bon Jovi at 80's night. They also participated in Karoke and danced the night away in the clubs. We all played at Adult Magic Quest as well!!!

Thanks!!!

MJ
