Hey Dancemoms,

besides discountdancesupply.com where do you buy your stuff online? my daughter grew out of her taps 3 weeks before the recital and I am trying to find a pair that isnt super expensive.. I already tried ebay.. they didnt have her size :(

Do you have an exchange at the studio? That might help get you through the recital and then through the summer in case she goes through a growth spurt before fall.

The do sell used shoes for $5 but unfortunately they didn't have her size. I did get one that will work if needed but its just a tad too big...

Like Jetprincess, our studio has a used shoe area, where parents can sell their out grown shoes. If your studo doesn't have one, you can always ask the receptionist if she knows of any family that may have a child with shoes that you could borrow or purchase from.

If all else fails and your DD is still in the black slip ons that you have a ribbon you tie, you can always look at Payless Shoes. They carry this style and the are cheaper. While it's not a quailty tap, it would get you thru the end of dance this year.

thanks! Unfortunately she is in the tan mary jane style...A friend mentioned a thing called heal huggers that I am going to try to see if it will make the new a bit tighter...

the generic tan ones are $14.75 for ribbon tie and $21.00 for the buckle at allaboutdance.com.

The taps at our payless are only $2 cheaper than buying directly from capezio or from discountdance, and there really is a big quality difference. Iti s the same for ballet, only about $2 cheaper and the capezio shoe is so much better. I get the same price going through my studio so I get them there.

When I was dancing, I used these tan funky little sticky pads that you put in the heel of the shoe that helps, they sell them at Wal-mart for like $1, then I added some cheapo shoe liners, they can be cut to fit. If they are long at the toes, stuff with kleenex or tissue paper.

we have found good deals on stuff at dancewearsolutions.com they are higher on shoes, but we do get some good leos and tights.

In the shoe dept, near the shoe laces/polish. If Wal-mart doesn't have them, one of the shoe stores will.

she needs these

http://cgi.ebay.com/Capezio-3800C-S...tem&pt=US_Childrens_Shoes&hash=item53e119ce11

all the local stores have them for about $36.. and the cheapest I can find them online is $24 plus 8 to ship...

unfortunately, if they have to be capezio brand I doubt that you will find those shoes any cheaper. Believe me, I have looked. Unless you catch someone doing a closeout that is likely what you will end up paying. Does she do summer session? If she will need taps ober the summer i would just go on and buy the good ones instead of spending now AND later.

thanks! I know I am not going to get them much cheaper..I am also asking because she needs new leotards and tights as well as new shoes for the fall...

Just an FYI to other online dance supply shoppers. I had a credit card fraud issue involving Discount Dance Supply. Chase cancelled my card and I was recredited the money. But I will never shop there again.

If you have a Payless Shoe Source try there. Another website would be dancedistributors.com. We usually recommend Wal-Mart or Payless.

Others have suggested the only other places I have shopped from. I have never had problems with Discount Dance.

? my daughter grew out of her taps 3 weeks before the recital

I have to wonder how this always happens. We just went through the same thing with DD's taps. Is there something about increasing temps and daylight hours of spring that make their feet grow faster? I think this is the 3rd time it's happened.

I lucked out getting handme down taps from a friend. Her jazz shoes also too small, I told her she can deal with those for a couple weeks. They have a little more give to them, lol

Payless Shoe Source has mostly kid's sizes in ballet slippers and tap shoes.

I usually go to a local store called Competitor's Closet, which has dance, gymnastics, and figure skating things.

Try a local store, maybe?
