Hi All,

Before I left I had read about the option of going to the Hess Station accross from DTD to stock up on cheaper snacks (and Pepsi for those of us that prefer it to Coke). I looked a various maps and read many posts but got the impression that you would be jaywalking accross a huge busy highway. I also got the impression that you would not be welcome to travel on the Disney busses carrying beer.

I just wanted to let those who might find it helpful that there is a well marked crosswalk near the Hess station so it is totaly safe to cross. Although I don't drink so I didn't buy any beer, I did see a man and woman waiting near a Disney bus stop with 2 cases of beer. The bus driver stopped to ask if they wanted to get on but they said they were waiting for a cab so this tells me that the bus drivers (or at least this driver) didn't mind having people carrying booze on the bus (unopened of course)

The next time I go down to Disney I'm heading over to Hess to stock up :)

Thanks,
Susan

Not just a crosswalk, but a signal and a button to press. You do have to walk smartly; it allows just enough time to cross at normal walking speed.

Open alcohol is not allowed on buses. Closed containers are just like any other baggage: it must be under the control of the owner & not blocking the aisle.

Hi. I hope you didn't get that impression here! We always recommend that Hess station and the Disney bus. It's funny to see all the guys with their case of beer walking across Buena Vista Blvd.

Thanks for posting the reassurance about the light, crosswalk, etc. Some people are hesitant to try if they haven't seen something, so hopefully they will see your post and know that it's really easy.

Thank you for this great information. I am forcing DD's boyfriend to take a full-size suitcase (he is the one that wants cereal & they will be free with my Delta CC). So I am planning on packing quite a bit of snack-food in his suitcase. But I would love to be able to get some Diet Mt. Dew & some bottles of juice for the room.

Sorry to disappoint, but since the station is on WDW property they can only sell Coke products.

So no Mt Dew and also no Dr Pepper. This comes up everyone once and awhile for people looking for these products.

Since all the three Hess stations located on WDW property only sell Coca Cola products, the only other option is going offsite to another Hess station or stores like Walmart, Target or Publix to purchase to purchase Pepsi.

Oh that is SO SAD. I will check for a vending machine at the outlet mall, or just overpay for a couple of bottles in the airport & drag it with (if I can find it there).

If all else fails I guess it is Coke Zero...........

sharadoc - I did get the impression here but it's not a big deal! It wasn't like someone said outright that there was no crosswalk. It was probably how I read the posts and when I went on google earth to look it up I wasn't able to make out the crosswalk.

Thanks to those who clarified that we can't get Pepsi products at the on site Hess stations...I managed to survive 10 days with no Diet Pepsi...it's still good to get cheaper snacks...I did take one of the suggestions on the boards and went to a DVC resort to get snacks because they have a wider variety.

I've gotten lots of great tips and info from everyone here so I wanted to make sure I contributed even if it was just a little info :flower3:

That Hess stations across from DTD also sells decent pizza at a cheap price. I think a large single topping is $8.
