He's torturing her cats....serious thread

Yikes! I have no idea what to do ......Let me give you guys some background info. My mom had a house fire a few weeks ago. She and my brother had two cats they are downright obsessed with. They love those cats to death. They have pictures of them hanging up and everything. She and my brother decided to move into my grandmother's house but the condition was that she can't bring the cats.

She fretted about it and tried to get me to take them in which is ridiculous. She knows I'm afraid of cats and always have been. I dont even visit her house because of the cats ,she comes to my house.

She didnt have the money to board them so she took the cats to her brother's apartment. He is not allowed to have pets in his apartment but to please her he snuck the cats in. The problem is he is NOT a cat person and he is a drug addict.

We all know this already. This was a last resort for my mom. I thought everything was OK . They visit the cats leave them food etc. HOWEVER my uncle HATES them and he is broke right now with no food and he asked my mom to bring him over some food since he has her cats . My mom said NO . He is LIVID. I tried to remedy the situation by telling him tommorow im going to mail him some money in the morning .

We were talking on the phone and he just has a big mouth. He admitted that he tortures the cats everyday and he plans to get rid of them Friday. He just kept talking and talking ......This is what he said he did to the cats

He ran himself some bathwater...the cat walked in he didnt like it so he took the cat and threw it in the water.
He said one day the cat climbed on his fridge and so he took a shoe and beat the cat on his back .

Yeah....thats pretty bad...but here is where it gets downright sinister

He said he takes one of the cats and puts it in a bag ,closes it and shakes it for a few seconds for laughs
He said he put one of the cats in the freezer for about 10 seconds for laughs
He said he bought live crabs last week and put the cat and a live crab in the bag He said the screams were hilarious
One of the cats walked on his stove so the next time it walked on the stove he turned the eye on really fast and watched it take off
He said he poured hotsauce all over thier fur so when they lick it off....you know the rest

I TOLD my mom weeks ago to take the cats to a shelter and get rid of them because her apartment wont be ready for another 6 months !She refuses and have this NUT taking care of the cats!

He said he"s taking the cats to a park on Saturday and releasing them.I told him to release the cats TOMMOROW so they dont have to suffer with him! I dont think my mom should have the cats back because after all they've been through they will probaly attack her ! They arent the same anymore...Im calling him tommorow to make sure he releases the cats .

I dont know what else to do in this situation .They all live hours away it's not like I can drive over and take them or tell them what to do .

I hope that he does release them because it sounds like they'd be better off. What state does he live in? I wish that I could grab them.

If he doesn't release them you could call the SPCA and explain the situation to them. Wow, what a nut!

By the way, why are you scared of cats? Did you have a bad incident when you were young? They are truly rarely mean and if they are they are very small. I realize that a person can't help a fear though.

He lives in Massachuttes . I live in NY . It's too far. I'm screamish with most things...cats are just a part of the bunch. If they were kittens I would take them in but they are very big full grown cats. I can't deal with that. I'd be scared in my own home .

Another thing, you could tell him that if does another thing to those cats that you won't send him money. That might make him back off...for a while. Do you have a friend or relative that would pick them up and put them in your garage? A rescue or animal control would pick them up.

Seriously, call someone. The SPCA or a rescue organization. You'll feel better.

Im trying to think of another alternative. I can't tell my mom because she would FLIP...probaly go over there wait for my uncle to come outside and mow him down over those cats. I agree with him though (not the torture) that my mom should compesate him for taking in her cats ESPECIALLY knowing he is a loose cannon . He has NO groceries in his house and has been eating peanut butter. It would not have killed to her to bring him over some groceries especially knowing he has your cats. I think the best thing is for him to get rid of the cats and tell her that his landlord found them and made him get rid of the cats.

Call the SPCA. It's animal abuse, plain and simple. If you were bothered that much I think you would have called for help already. And I can't believe he's going to dump the animals in the park instead of taking them to a shelter. What a nut-job!

He does'nt think messing with the cats is wrong. He is schizophrenic AND bipolar ...combine that with being a drug addict and that's someone with absolutely no morals or sense of right and wrong. Im going to call my aunt tommorow and tell her what he said he's doing to the cats. SHE will be the one to call . She already told me twice that if she has any proof he's messing with the cats she is going to get him arrested.

I would prefer to see a shelter take them too but they would at least stand a chance of staying alive if he dumps them. I'm afraid that he is liable to kill them otherwise and in some very cruel way.

OP, keep us informed! Please do call the SPCA if he doesn't dump them. They will take care of it and leave you out of it from what I understand.

Those poor cats.

I am so sorry that your mom lost her place in a fire, and that she is displaced, but this temporary home is no place for those cats. PLEASE tell your mom what is going on. If she loves those cats like you say she does, she will bring them to the shelter, so they don't have to suffer.

Can the shelter board them while she is displaced? How about her vet? How about a foster home? I bet if you/she start making some calls, there would be someone to help out.....especially with what is happening. You said she was in MA? What about Northeast Animal Shelter? They are a no-kill shelter.

Further, please don't just let them be released into the wild, that is just as bad as the treatment they are getting. If they are used to being indoor cats, they are not going to be able to take care of themselves.

I know that you are afraid of cats, but couldn't you take them for a little while, given the situation? Maybe have them live in an extra bedroom or something?

I agree 100%.. Rather than asking for advice here, you should be on the phone right now.. By tomorrow those poor cats could be dead..

I feel really guilty ...my mom loves the cats and she is going to be so upset when she learns he put them out .Im urging him to put the cats out because he's torturing them and he really does'nt want them. I also told my mom to find another apt ...6 months is too long! Not to mention the cats caused her house fire. They chewed through her stove wires and they are chewing my uncle's belongings up and it's just adding fuel to his fire.

If he puts them out they will be lost to starve or get killed on the road. CALL SOMEONE NOW. Arriving after the fact can be to late.
