He's Gone :(

We live in housing, we actually were out in Neubruecke but now live on base in a renovated apt. I have met 2 wonderful friends here and they have been my sounding board. I love visiting Idar Oberstein and shopping!

Have you been up to the church in the rock? It's amazing. You can get really beautiful crystal jewelry there, too. I was on Google Earth tonight, showing my boys where I lived, where ds16 was born, etc. I could still find both of the houses that I lived in.

2 more little "memory lane" things.... is there still a restaurant in Baumholder called Jack-Boy's? They had a schnitzel sandwich on brochen that I would kill for. :lmao: Also, there was a little American Baptist church in Baumholder called Trinity Baptist. Is that still there? It was close to the gate leading into Smith housing. That place saved my sanity during the long deployments.

Anyway, I will be thinking of you. I think the best thing about being a military spouse is knowing that you are never truly alone.

:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: and more :grouphug:

Thank you and your husband for the sacrifices you make. :grouphug:
I have a SIL near Bavaria waiting for her DH. He just left 3 weeks ago for 15 months to Iraq. :sad1: They have a 3 year old and a 6 month old. I can't imagine what you're going through.

My parents lived in Germany for a while when my Dad was in the Air Force. It was hard on both of them because Dad was an American and my mother was from Holland. They made some great friends though and got to see a bit of that lovely country.

Could you travel? Maybe seeing some great places will make the time go by a little faster. It's great that you have made a few friends - I was always told that Germans are warm and friendly people.

I know that missing your DH will be so hard though. I'm sorry that you have to deal with this. Remember that Texas will always be here for when you come back, that is if you come back this way.

Yes, I have been to the church in the rock. I have not heard of the restaurant but the Trinity Church is still there. I live on Smith Housing and the Smith gate is the Main gate now (not sure if it was when you were here).

Sending you lots of hugs and prayers and for your DH as well.

I noticed that this is a special day for you and your husband. May it give you some comfort in knowing that others are thinking of you and wishing the best for you and your darling husband on your 2nd anniversary.
