We are heading up to Hershey Park for the first time this weekend. we are only able to stay for one night and wanted to see what is a MUST to do. We are doing all the holiday light shows and the chocolate factory...anything else???

There's outlets next door and they have a Disney outlet!!!!!!!!!!

we are going this Saturday (just for the day) - doing the lights, hersheypark and choc world.

I went to college less than 5 mins from Hershey, It's amazing!

If you are going to the park, be prepared that alot of the rides are not open including alot of the metal coasters (I believe). It's still worthwhile to go into the park, it's beautiful!

If you are around Hershey, you can go to ZooAmerica or The Hershey Story (not sure if that's is it's correct name or not). There is the Hershey Lodge to visit for their Christmas Decorations, and Just the cute little town itself.

Hope this Helped! Message me if you have any questions! :)

We typically go to Chocolate World in the morning, get lunch, go to the park during the day and evening, and then ride through the Sweet Lights display in the evening when we are finished at the park. Even though the bigger rides aren't open, it is still well worth it to do to the park. This will be the first year we have missed it in several years. :sad2: The outlets are great too! Have fun!!

The street lights are hershey kisses!

My advice would be to get in line for the Sweet Lights display early (i.e. before 5:30p) or late (i.e. after 9:00p) as the line fills quickly and this often leads to a 1-2 hour wait just to get in. You should have somewhat better luck considering that it's still early in the season. Have fun! :thumbsup2

oh i love hershey park. chocolate world is a must, the gift shop is giant but who really needs a giant stuffed hershey bar pillow or a 5lb hershey bar? i bought lots of hot coco mix there and gave them out as gifts later. we too did chocolate world and then the park. the museum wasn't open then so i need to go back.

in the park dont miss that giant kiss that takes you up and gives you a view. i went during halloween and it was a warm break from the cold.

also if anyone reading this has a child or themselves have a gluten allergy the park offers GF food including buns for the burgers. that is part of the reason i went.

if you have time the next morning for lancaster check out the farmers markets and there is a great place called abe's buggy rides that i used that was amazing. they take AAA discount if you take a buggy ride. it was one of my favorite parts of my lancaster visit.

We only did Chocolate World because it was pouring down rain the entire weekend we were there!

But it was still fun. We did the tour, ate lunch there and walked around.

Dawn

We have gone several times and stayed at the Hershey Lodge for Thanksgiving and are going again this year. It is fun and it gets the family ready for Christmas, but it is not Walt Disney World and shouldn't be compared to it. Last time we were on the bus going to the park there were a couple of guys complaining the whole ride how they couldn't believe that we were riding on "real" roads because at Disney they have their own roads.:)

Local here...

If you do decide to visit Hershey Park's Candy Lane, admission to 'Zoo America' (by way of the park) is also included in the price. Just thought I would mention that, in case you were considering visiting the zoo--you wouldn't need to pay a separate admission fee. (Also, Zoo America participates in the AZA reciprocal admission program, if you happen to have a membership at another zoo.) :thumbsup2

The trolley tours (tickets sold at, and trolleys depart from, Choc. World) are a nice way to see Hershey during the holidays. Santa also makes an appearance during your tour. :santa:

If you will be in town on an evening when the Bears are playing at home, and your family includes sports fans, consider tickets for a hockey game. Our Hershey Bears won their tenth AHL Calder Cup Championship last season, and are off to a great start again this year. :cheer2:

Have fun!

As someone else posted, only some of the rides are open during the Christmas in Hershey events. About 30 in all, but none of the big coasters and of course the water rides.

Oooh, thanks for the tip. We are going the first weekend in December. This sounds like something my DS would enjoy! And me and DH too;)

I second the suggestion for the trolley tour. It was really cute and my kids loved seeing Santa. Have fun!!! It should be really nice b/c it won't be too cold-when we went it was freezing so we didn't last too long in the actual park.

DO NOT go to Christmas at Hershey until you join the fan club. Join at the address below and get a buy one get one free entry to the park!!! Comes in an email within 15 min. If it does not show up, check your spam blocker. Sign up multiple emails for bigger groups. Enjoy!

Also, Hershey Gardens is sooo nice in the warmer weather. Butterfly house, stuff for the kids, etc. Not sure if it is open this late in year. Buy one get one coupons for that in the York/Lanc Entertainment book.

Zoo America has free parking and is worth a nice quick walk through.

Also, Hershey Choc World has the cute little free ride. My 2 year old LOVES the signing cows. My wife loves the smell of the choc they pipe in. I like when your car goes through the "oven." We always joke about the choc "pool" we want to dive into. Get their fresh baked cookies near the end of the ramp after the ride. You will not regret it. Your waistline might.
