I know both very different places. Plan on driving to either place and staying 3 nights. We includes dh, myself, dd20, ds 17, dd 8 ds 6. its sometimes hard to make everybody happy with such age differences. We have never been to either place. Whatelse is there to do in Hershey other than the park?

The Chocolate World thing is also in Hershey PA (a simulated tour of the chocolate factory - plan for maybe 2 hours), I believe there is also a zoo right near the Park. Also at Hershey, you are close (less than an hour) from all the Amish country stuff, including Dutch Wonderland. And the Crayola Factory in Easton is not that far away either, depending on which direction you are traveling.

Unless you all have visas, I would have to say (unfortunately) skip Niagara Falls. The Canadian side has many cool things to do, and places to visit. The American side is an absolute disgrace, unless you get into serious potholes and run-down neighborhoods and a huge casino.

Hershey, on the other hand is one of the great family vacation treasures in this country. The park is among my favorites, and the zoo is accessible from the park (small, but nice). Chocolate world is accessible from the parking lot to the park, and is a cool little tour - and the shop and food area is great! The outlets are a great place to walk around and shop. And, while you're in the area, you HAVE to tour one of the Amish farms, and understand how traditional Amish people lived; and visit an Amish buffet or restaurant.

you will be close to lancaster county maybe an hour drive or so. i would highly recommend going here as there are many things to do. lancaster county is also known as amish country. there are amish homes to visit A(for a moderate fee). you kids get to see how a different culture lives. there is also the strasburg railroad and museum. dutch wonderland is a nice family place to visit, it is a small amusement type park, good for younger children. there are 2 outlet areas both less than a mile of each other. there is also a theater that has a christian based live show. there are many, many things to do in lancaster county. we go often, it is very relaxing. niagra falls is also a great place to visit. there are many attractions there and a good learning experience for the kids. either destination you choose you and your family will have a good time. there is also a harley davidson factory tour in york, pa which is not too far from hershey and lancaster county. philadelphia is about 2.5 to 3 hours from hershey and there is lots of historical places to visit. hope this helps

We all love Hershey Park - where are you coming from, and what time of year? I avoid Hershey during the summer, especially on weekends.

we all have passports so staying on the canadian side is not a problem, if we do Niagara fall. We would be going on in late July Saturday through Tuesday. So not sure how the crowds would be in Hershey then. We are coming form South East Ma.

Hershey gets PACKED in the summer. It's fun but crowded. And those hills are killer.

We really had fun in Niagara I have big age ranges 15-5 year olds(4 kids) and they all had a blast in Niagara- Canada side- we did the touristy stuff. Also went to Niagara On The Lake - which is a very pretty town. Fun all around. We bought the 4 pass which included 4 tours(the butterfly pavillion was amazing!) and we did Maid of the mist, behind the falls and something else that I don't remember because I missed it with the little guy. Oh and we stayed at the Embassy Suites and that was a great place - we stayed at a High Falls View Room and it was fantastic- the fireworks at night from the room were great. They even brought baby tigers from one of the casino shows over for the Cocktail party they have every night.

Visa needed for Canada?

We have done Sesame Place and Hershey park in one trip. (3 years in a row 2004, 2005, 2006) roughly less than 2 hr drive from each other but not to bad. Also Crayola Factory, Giggle Berry Fair and Philadelphia, Liberty bell etc. (great museums). My kids are 23, 13,(boy's) and 8(girl) had a great time, even oldest loved Sesame Place and Hershey Park. If you go on Sesame Place.com or Hershey Park.com they have all you can do packages. Niagra Falls was great too. There is alot to do on both places, Great vacations for all ages.

I would go to Niagara Falls! I like Hershey but the Falls are so much more fun for 3 days. Hershey is more of a day and a half trip. There is something for all the ages at Niagara. We met my sister and nephew there for a 3 day weekend and had so much fun that the kids decided to meet there again the next year over going somewhere else.

You need passports not visas.

If you have never been to the Falls you have to go! Everyone should see it at least once in their life. You will be so awed by the force and power and vast amount of water going over the falls every second that turning off the water while you brush will seem so minuscule. It made me feel so small in the grandness of the world.

leaning toward Niagara!! Anybody know about hotels LOL
We need a wyhndam hotel using reward points! I've looked into the Holiday Inn at Niagara Falls or the Days Innn at the falls any tips

Hershey trip should include Lake Tobias, Cherry Crest Farms, Dutch Wonderland, and an Abe's Buggy Ride if the riders are 2nd grade and down.

We did 4 days in Niagara. Well, we were booked for 4 days. We did 2 days are were bored stiff. Did the falls, the Maid, the pots, the dam .... then touristy and junky after doing the falls stuff. So, we checked out early and drove up to Toronto instead. GREAT, clean, seeminglly safe city. LOVED it. So, I would only plan for a day or two in Niagara.
