Hi~

Has anyone stayed at the Hershey Lodge? If so, what was your opinion? Did you like it?

Thanks

I actually just got back from a conference there. It wasn't horrible. Of course I had gotten off a cruise the week before, so maybe I was just used to staying somewhere really nice, but I was not impressed with it. It was clean and everything, which I guess is the most important thing. It is very big, so you may have to walk quite a distance to get anywhere. We had at least a 5 minute walk from our room to the conference center, which is quite far when you are wearing heels and aren't used to it. We ended up having to take our shoes off anytime we needed to go anywhere just because it was so darn far. Overall, it was ok, I just wouldn't run back there on my own.

Of course a lot of crap (don't know if I can say that, sorry to the mods if I can't) happened there, so maybe that put a bitter taste in my mouth too.

We stayed there a couple of years ago and I thought it was WAAAAYY overpriced (but we did go in peak season). The hotel is really nothing special at all. It had some fun activities, like free mini-golf and bingo (where you could win full-sized Hershey candy bars (Kit Kat, Whatchamacallit, etc.)!! YUM! We won about 5 of them!) I would never stay there again unless we got a great deal, but keep in mind I am a big cheapskate, so my opinion might not be that of the "average" person. They do give a good AAA discount, so that made it a little more tolerable!

Where on earth was the mini-golf? We would have loved to have done that being that we were stuck there 24 hours a day for 3 days.

Don't go expecting much . . . Disney it is NOT! I've stayed there and won't pay that much again. Now, when we go to Hershey, we stay at Days Inn, Best Western, etc. The Lodge looks very dated and IMHO is not worth the money.

Hello:
We stayed at the Hampton inn one mile from the park and it was very clean, new and nice. Also less than 1/2 the cost of the Lodge.

does Hotel Hershey give AAA discount too? Anyone know what it is?

My family & I stayed at the Hershey Lodge a few years ago. I got a pretty decent (I thought) price on Expedia. We stayed in the beginning of June for, I think, $139 a night.

It was a nice hotel. Not Disney, but a decent hotel. What I liked about it:

The lobby had a warm feeling
They gave you Hershey bars at check-in (not a great big deal, but my dad & DD loved it!)
The mini-golf...my dad played that endlessly
They had a kids candy hunt and some crafts...DD liked that
Transportation to Hersheypark was convenient

What could have been better:
the pools were nothing special
The landscaping was pretty, but, unlike DIsney, there was nowhere nice to walk outside. You want to go for a walk, you walk through parking lots.

I thought we got our money's worth and I'd stay there again.

Well, the place is so big that I don't really remember exactly where it was--I think it was near the pool?? It probably wasn't open when you were there due to the cold weather. It was a cute little course and for free, it was fantastic, since my kids love minigolf!!

We liked it, but Disney it ain't.

The lobby is really nice - they have a HUGE cozy fireplace that's really the focal point. The room was very clean and comfortable. I liked the Hershey Kiss wallpaper, but that's about as fancy as it got.

The pool was pretty run of the mill, nothing special.

They have a good restaurant there...can't remember it's name, though. There's also the Bear's Den, which is like a sports bar.

Overall, I'd stay there again if I found a good price. It's close to Hersheypark, and that's what we were looking for.

Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. I think I will look at some other places around there too.

Yes, it does. Several years ago it was 10%. We went in August and it was $300.00 as opposed to $330.00. We wanted the Lodge but it was booked up so we took the Hotel. It was very nice but we only stayed two nights. It was a nice splurge and I would stay there again.
