Hershey Hotel or Hershey lodge - discounts?

We just spent last week in PA and visited both Sesame Place and Hershey Park. We have 3 kids - 9, 7 and 3. All three had a good time at both parks. We had been to Sesame Place 3 years ago but this was our first visit to Hershey Park. We really liked it but also enjoyed Sesame Place. We didn't find either park to be too crowded and felt we were able to see and do all that we wanted to. We spent 2 days in each park - drove down Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at SP, drove Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday at HP, relaxed on Friday, drove home Sunday. We stayed at the Comfort Inn in Levittown for SP and a family owned motel, the Simmons motel, for HP. We did a package deal for the Comfort Inn and hotel only for HP since we already had tickets for there. I would say that next time I will try to reserve sooner to get one of the chain hotels for Hershey. We booked pretty late and had to take what we could get. The Simmons motel was decent, clean and well kept but I would have prefered a chain hotel with continental breakfast. Other than our 3 year old taking a spill on our first night and needing stitches, we had a very good week visiting both parks.

The Country Inn and Suites in Harrisburg says it's 9 miles away (not sure if you want closer) and it's $99 a night during the week if you have AAA.

I'm trying to find a cheap 1 night rate around the Hershey / Lancaster area for late July

Fri in Hershey stay the night go to the outlets to get some school shopping done and back home.

For your Kids ages i would recommend DUTCH WONDERLAND in Lancaster it's a nice small park that was bought out by Hershey .We even camped there until DD outgrew the park a few years ago.

We are coming up for a weekend end of July and going to the Lancaster minor league baseball game and Hershey that Monday. Any suggestions on lodging preferably near Hershey?

Thanks

Gerry

We have family stay at the Country Inn and Suites that is just a few miles out of town when they come to visit. It is fairly new and very nice.

Hi :)

I live 15 minutes away from the park.

Summerrluvv mentioned the exact hotel that I always recommend...Country Inn and Suites. It's on the same strip as a lot of other hotels...just a mile or 2 farther from the park...and it is A LOT less expensive. It's new and clean and just as convenient, IMHO.

It's right off of Route 81....on the Route 39 exit.

My sister and her family always stay there when they come to visit us. It's their hotel of choice (and she's rather particular) :)

HTH!!

Hershey Park is perfect for the young ones. The candy bar characters are GREAT! There's a nice amount of kiddie rides throughout the whole park and like someone mentioned before, they are "clustered" so you can kind of park the stroller and hit 2-3 at a time.

August is the busiest time, though...be ready for crowds. They have a special where you can buy your tickets 2.5 hours before closing time the night before your big day at the park and go in till the park closes that night for free. It only gives you a couple of hours, but it's still kind of nice if it works out for you.

The website www.hersheypa.com will help you find out more about the park and the area.

HTH! let me know if I can help any more.

Like summerrluvv said, I recommend the Country Inns & Suties Harrisburg (Hershey). It is about 10 minutes from the park, and easy to get to, if leaving Hersheypark, you just keep straight out of the Entertainment Complex entrance, and its about 10 min down the road (Route 39) on the right hand side. I stayed there the weekend of June 24, and it was really nice. We have stayed there before many times before when going to Hersheypark, and will keep doing that.
Also, if you are a member of Gold Points, it really pays to stay here and earn points for free hotel stays (which we used for a whole week at WDW and didnt pay a thing for the whole week). The hotel is only about 3 years old, and the breakfast is really good too, they have sausage, eggs, waffles, along with the usual stuff. I cant say enogh good things about this hotel, or any Country Inns & Suites for that matter. Never have been dissapointed with them--hope that helps!

We spent last weekend at Hershey Park. I picked up lots of pamphlets for attractions in the area. If you would like me to mail them to you, just send me a PM. By the way...we had a great time and I'm happy to report that the park is just as nice as I remember and very family friendly.

We have stayed at the Lodge the Hotel and offsite at the Comfort Inn(which was clean and had an indoor pool!) So check the price on the comfort inn it was so close and breakfast included. It was where we stayed for Christmas in Hershey because the price was so good and we were so surprised at the hotel! Really nice. I have friends that do the Springhill suites all the time and they rave about that too- but that one fills up very quickly.)those marriot point holders.......
And really try to get to Dutch Wonderland it was a funny little park- but nice for little children and very inexpensive. In fact I think we may head there next weekend to ease the just back from Disney pain...

Quick and easy right outside Hershey Park

$99 a night

little breakfast in am before park

Hershey will be 100 years old next year!

The loading and unloading at rides/ park/ etc did make you appreciate the magic and cast members at Disney though.
