I have had quite a rough year with things going on in my family and school, etc. so ive planed this trip to get away from everything and go to my favorite place on earth. its the only place where i can 100% let go, have fun and forget about everything going on even if it is for only a few days. Im figuring this will be my last time going to disney for quite some time so im going all out doing things ive never done before like a tour and some character dinners. Im just hoping that something extra magical happens seeing as i wont be back for a long time. even if nothing happens i will be greatful that i got to go to Disney, there is just something about that place that just brightens my day. Anyone have anything extra magical happen to them that they would like to share?

We were picked as family of the day when we checked into our hotel. They gave us an upgrade to Tower/Magic Kingdom view, ballons, coloring books and a magic moments card.

I look at Disney as just plan old magic. Everything that happens is special because it is Disney.

Sometimes you have to really put yourself in the place to make those things happen. Ask for a window seat at restuarants (O'hana is a really nice place for this). Arrive early for candy making in Japan. Get pixie dust put in your hair at the barber for more attention. Be an extra in Indiana Jones. Be one of the first to arrive at Back Lot tour to be part of the show. These thing could make your trip even more special.

I hope you will have a little extra pixie dust on your trip too! I know what you mean about "forgetting about everything" while you're there. I am so looking forward to our trip in a couple of months. This past year was one of the most difficult I have ever had (my dad died after a number of months in the hospital) and I just can't wait for the magic.

If you have never done it, make sure you ride up front with the driver on the monorail. It is an awesome view! pixiedust:

Remember not to LOOK for the magic, it will find its way to you in all sorts of neat ways on its own! It could be a kind CM, or an extra scoop of Ice Cream, or just a warm smile from a stranger~ thats what WDW is! :wizard:
D.D.

Thoroughly enjoy the trip but slowing down and seeing the little things most people miss. I did this last year and observed tiny, little, live geckos sunning themselves on the sidewalks which would scurry away the instant big humans were coming.

Do what you want to do and enjoy every second there.

Rent a water mice and take a spin!

Have a wonderful time!!! Ely

I'm throwing some pixie dust towards you too Tink! My first trip to WDW was sooo magical - best ever for DH and I -- never had so much fun and I wish you a wonderful trip!

And to Elysiannn who mentioned the geckos -- we watched (and giggled) at a gecko sunning himself on a little building in the train display at Epcot World Showcase. He just sat on a little house roof and looked so funny -- made us think of those monster movies (Manthra??? was it) with the giant dinosaur-type creatures.

I hope you find the magic to carry you through any rough times ahead.

Have a safe journey to Orlando and a wonderful vacation.

We'll be waiting for you. :goodvibes :welcome:

Here's a bit more pixie dust for your trip! I had a rough year last year too, and I was hoping this year's trip was going to make it all better. I planned all sorts of extra special things for my family and some didn't work out the way I planned. Our very special room was less than steller and in the first hour at MK we lost the Pal Mickey I called ahead and had waiting for us, but that night as I stood with my family and watched Wishes I was so taken away by the magic I just had to cry. I am so blessed in so many ways, and any place that allows us to forget the troubles of our lives and just focus on the important parts IS magical - and worth visiting as often as we can. It's funny how at one point I thought a stuffed toy was going to ruin my day, but Disney brought me back to my senses. So that's my advice - don't think the stuff of Disney, from animal towels to getting to open the parks- will make the magic for you. The magic is there for the taking for everyone. Even if no special extras happen, let yourself let go of the outside world and just enjoy your time. That's the magic. That's why I'll keep going back. (And maybe I'll get another Pal Mickey :earsboy: too)

I know what you mean! My trip last year was just so incredible that I am nearly in tears waiting to go back. Just getting away from the daily grind is nice, but to be in Disney just makes it even harder to come back! Last year, I cried on our last night there because I didn't want to come back home! A few minutes ago I was planning out the week for our trip in May and when I got to Friday I almost started to cry again! I hate having to come back! I want to move to Florida but then I'm afraid that the *magic* of going to Disney would wear off if it was so easily accessible.

As far as extra magic, just take your time when you're at the parks! Nothing ruins a vacation more then stressing out over not getting to everything. Take in everything...sit down and enjoy the surroundings.
Have a great trip! (Even though I know you will!)

Hi Tink,
After reading your post it sounds like your going through a difficult time right now and planning your disney trip is always a wonderful thing to look forward to and get your mind off things. I wish nothing but happiness to come your way for your disney trip and every day after.
Just remember to smile bigger, laugh harder, dance longer, and sing louder. Remember your in the happiest place on earth and when you return back home you can look back at those memories you made for yourself and hopefully look back and cherish each moment.

Wishing you the most magical pixie dust tink has to offer!!! :wizard:

How interesting it is that when people have a rough time, they head to a magical place. My family and I also had a rough year and in deciding on a trip Disney was the place that got us most excited. I thought that we'd want to do something different, but Disney is familiar and comfortable so we know we would have a good time. We are planning to make a relaxing trip of it, making as few plans in advance as possible. We know where we'd like to eat, but the only ADR made is Hoop dee doo. We know what rides we want to do, but will decide what parks to go to when we get there.
I hope all of you going to WDW this year have extra fairy dust sprinkled on you. Have a great trip, I know we will!!!
