I know this isn't scrapbooking -- but it uses scrapbooking materials and supplies.

I'm hoping someone else can use this idea for their kids.

For our first dw trip, I got tote bags with clear pockets on the front from Michaels. I think these bags are suppose to allow you to put photographs in the clear pockets.

I personalized one bag for each child.

The bags were $4 I think and a cream colored canvas.

I got the mickey mouse paint chips from Home Depot and put a different color for each child in one pocket. I placed a coordinating scrapbook paper behind it to fill the space. We had one pink themed bag, one green themed bag and one teal themed bag.

In one pocket --I sizzixed their first name and inserted into the clear pocket (in a color to match the paint chip)

I printed out a disney character (each child's favorite) from the computer and put that in one pocket. I typed "Welcome to Disney" on it.

You get the idea. Scrapbook disney stickers in another pocket.
You can sew the pockets shut if you want to prevent the inserts from coming out.

These bags were tote bags with handles (tied scrapbooking ribbons on the handles)so they easily were able to hang on the bed posts in the hotel room and each child kept their "things" (toys, colorbooks etc) in their own bag to help keep the room be picked up. If they buy new goodies at Disney, they can keep them in the bag.

It worked so well and we have taken them on every trip since. To announce a new trip to disney, you can leave the bags hanging on their chairs at the diningroom table.

It was a super economical and USEFUL thing to make. I actually filled the bags with Disney goodies (bought before we left home), left the bags at the front desk with out my kids knowing, and had the front desk de;liver them to our room and tell the kids Mickey and Minnie had been there earlier and left these bags since our plane hadn't arrived yet. You should have seen those kids' eyes!!!

What a clever and creative idea! I love it! I especially like that there will be a place for the kids to put things they've collected during the day, to help keep the room a little less messy. Thanks for sharing.

The bags sound lovely, but aren't you worried with their names on the bag? I must be paranoid, (am I the only one?) I've never had my DD's name on a bag or backpack that she takes on a trip. I wouldn't want strangers to know her name and perhaps approach her.:scared1:

But I am thinking this would be a cute idea to do for my DM when we go to SDV. She could use it as a pool bag and have a cute souvenier of the trip.

Exactly what I was thinking. :)

Not at all. They didn't take the bags out of the room. They left them hanging on their beds. And when we came home, they have them hanging on their beds. So no one outside of our family (and the Disney mousekeeping) ever saw the bags. They would have been too big for the kids to carry anywhere else.

Cute idea! Thanks for sharing. We're going to the beach with friends, so I'm going to make these for beach bags for each family.

I was just thinking - if you are going to make them into beach bags.....

We had bought some spray at Target called "camp dry" that is a water proof spray. We bought it to spray DD suede boots but you can use it on just about anything.

If you're making the bags for the beach, maybe you want to spray them with some water proofer before you do anything to the bags. Couldn't hurt and might make the bags last longer and they'd be water proof.:thumbsup2
