I just talked to an old friend of mine who told me the secret she's been dying to tell me: she's three months pregnant :thumbsup2 They made plans to go to WDW a while ago, and six months out made an 8:10 reservation for Crystal Palace...all before she knew she was going to be expecting her first child of course. They're still going to WDW, and leave in a few weeks, but now she's learning just what a peach morning sickness can be. So far she's had to leave a surprising number of restaurants, tables, etc when the smell suddenly make her feel all kinds of whoopsy...and for her, when it happens can be very unpredictable. Needless to say, she's a little concerned about walking into the buffet at CP and having to walk right out again. I told her I'd ask online that, since this is before park opening hours, if she ends up not being able to eat there, will they make her walk all the way back up Main Street and back out the exit? Or if she can wait on Main Street or perhaps on the CP patio for park opening?

Also, what time does Main Street Bakery open (so that in this scenario her DH can grab himself a bite, and maybe her a roll or something).

Congratulations to your friend!

Just back from Disney, newly pregnant myself, and very morning sick. Which really is any time of day sickness.

Crystal Palace is not a problem, no odors to speak of. She can ask to be seated away from the food and DH could go get her a plate of safe items. (Fruit, bread, danish, etc.) If she's feeling woozy, she could go stand on the porch and rejoin her husband when she's feeling better.

Happily, if she's 3 months along - the morning sickness should pass by the time she's in WDW. Generally 15 weeks is the outer end of the sickness.

(God get me through until next week please ;) )

LOL, thx, I'll let her know the end may be in sight ;) And congrats to you too!

Can you believe the smell of the water from her tap made her sick?
They had to add on another water ionizer just so she could get near the sink :lmao: . I told her she just gave up an excellent excuse to get out of doing dishes! Course there's the problem of bathing....

YMMV -- I had morning sickness through the first five months...

But I think CP would be a safe bet if you follow the above advice. If she did have to step out, I can't imagine that she'd have to exit the park. We've finished fairly quickly in the past and just hung out around the castle until rope drop. It was fun.

Oh Kim, please say it isn't so!

I had MS for the first 9 weeks with DS 1, 11 weeks with DS 2, and am now 14 weeks and still sick with this one. :sad1:

I think I had morning sickness for about 8 months. But it was very welcome since I had two miscarriages before that pregnancy. And with the morning sickness I knew I had one that was going to stay. I cooked Thanksgiving dinner for my husband and I (including turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, etc) and couldn't eat a bite. Still can't eat turkey 15 yrs later.

Have her husband ask if they can be seated far from the food, and away from the crowds. Then go with little bits of food and see how it goes. I ate hard boiled eggs and jello for about six months.

Hi there! I too suffered MS with all 3 of my kids.

For me staying away from high sugary foods and heavy stuff in the morning helped.

I learned a few secrets of the trade while belonging to a breastfeeding support group ..

1. When you feel queezy, take a bite from a green apple (granny smith) something to do with the chemicals in green apples helps morning sickness and sea sickness. I know sounds strange but it really does help!

2. Chamomile or mint tea. Have her carry a few tea bags in her purse and ask for hot water at the table. It helps settle a tummy pretty quick.

3. Ginger snaps or saltine crackers BUT don't over do it .. just 2-3 bites until the tummy settles down.

I agree with asking to be seated as far from the buffet as possible! Just tell the CM she has a little mickey or minnie and I know the CM will sympathize with her hahah

A lot of times just having a ceiling fan or air movement helps. I know stale air or no breeze would make me a lot sicker.

Tell her GOOD luck and just keep her eye on having a little bundle of joy in a few months

above is right that CP is pretty innocuous from an odor standpoint. The tables are pretty far from the buffet. You can have someone else get the food. The bathrooms are very clean if that doesn't work.

BTW, my wife was four months pregnant when we went with our 3.5 year old son. She did very well, including CP.

2 pregnancies and 9 months of MS both times makes me an expert. Even though the tables are far away from the buffet, her sense of smell may be magnified. I agree about the ceiling fan -- moving air is a good thing. I am sure a CM will be sympathetic about her having to sit as far away from the food as possible. I had a tremendous sense of smell both times so I know it wouldn't (and didn't) help me. The ceiling fan may also help with the smell. I am sure that everyone will help her out and be very accommodating. Tell her congratulations! I went to WDW when I was 5 months pregnant and LTT totally set my tummy off. I managed to have a good time anyway and found that the Mickey bars are a wonderful cure for MS!

She will not have to walk all the way back to the entrance and wait for opening. She'll be able to stay in the park. There are rocking chairs on the porch if she needs those. And hate to say it but I guess it's necessary. There are bathrooms, First Aid Station and Baby Care Center right there nearby as well. If she really needs to get out of the restaurant and have "a moment", there are plenty of options.

We cancelled our trip that's at the end of this month due to my severe morning sickness. I couldn't chance grossing out the masses because everything triggers me.

That's too bad. But, really, what's one WDW trip compared to the joy of having a little one of your own forever? You'll just have to reschedule that trip when the entire family can go.

The most incredible thing about Morning Sickness is that it can be so different for each person and it can be different from pregnancy to pregnancy. All 3 of my pregnancies have been completely different, guess my kids like to keep me guessing.

I hope your friends morning sickness passes. Sometimes it does, and sometimes it doesn't. Regardless of MS, I hope she has a magical vacation.

What helped my wife and my SIL's was prenatal vitamins before, during and after the pregnancy. Although there are many different prenatal vitamins out there, you have to try a few to see which one is right for you. Your doctor should provide you with samples. Take them and see which one helps with the morning sickness. Hope she has a fantastic trip.:goodvibes
