...could everyone please keep my MiL in yur prayers? She was rushed to the hospital [again] with congestive heart failure....they had her on a machine that forces water out of her lungs [and system], but she can't breathe on her own - she's been sedated and is on a ventilator....they've also administered hevy doses of Lasix, but they have to be careful because her kidneys are failing....

Sorry to hear about her Kim, I'll be thinking of her and hoping for the best.

Oh...and....LAST

Hi Dana!

So when you finish your TR can we start planning our June Trip...since I don't have F&W to look forward to anymore.....:sad2:

Yup! I have no idea what to plan :lmao: That really sucks that they cancelled the F&W over there :( Is it not as popular as the one in Orlando or something?

OK, so I'll give them this much for honesty...they ARE completely tearing up DCA and I can see how the area where the F&W Festival will be under construction for the next two years, that was stated on the blog. However, they are not very forthcoming about whether or not it will come back in 2013. The big difference is that we can't have the interational kiosks like in Florida. I think it has something to do with strict CA food laws. When they have had small plates they have had a dedicated kitchen to provide them, so I think there is some CA requirement that a kitchen be licensed or something like that becuase they evidently can't "cook" food in kiosks or stands. They can sell Mickey bars, popcorn, ears of corn, pickles, but nothing they seem to have to cook.

The CA Festival to me has always been more about the Signature events ($$$) Wine Maker Dinners ($135pp), Cooking School ($475pp), Taste ($135) and though I haven't done them the wine tasting was about $55pp and Sweet Sundays went up to $75pp. Last year we did more because we were able to register early with the AP discount.

I would always do the cooking school and last year we did three WMDs and Taste. It was a lot of money, but so worth it for us. I did a couple free demos last year, but for general attendees, mostly what they did was have each CS restaurant come up with a signature dish and they had one area with about 10 F&W offerings. It was nothing like WDW, but why should it be? They had wine & spirits tastings and wine & beer walks. Of course there were culinary demos and Celebrity Chefs each weekend.

I was figuring that on our four days that I would be spending all day Friday in line for the Celebrity Chef and Friday night at a WMD, so you may have to spend more time with us than you bargained for! :rotfl2: We will definitely want to cook a few meals in the room because we are cheap and Fran gets too tired to go out at night so dinner in the room is often a good plan...we'll need to talk via PM about what to talk about for Wednesday.....however, if we won't be going to a WMD on Friday who knows what we can plan!

Ah, okay :) We have laws about certain things regarding mobile food prep, but just that it can't be in, like, a truck or something.

One more round before I go to bed LAST.

Kim - Still thinking of you and the family.

..nowhere NEAR seventies here (unless you consider 41 degrees near 70's...;) ]
