Kim - Still thinking of you and the family.

...the doctor tried taking her off the ventilator yesterday, but they didn't like that her breathing was too slow and shallow - the are gonna try again later today.....

Ah, okay :) We have laws about certain things regarding mobile food prep, but just that it can't be in, like, a truck or something.

 No food trucks! While I haven't eaten off of one in probably over 10 years, they are all the rage out here. A lot of the gourmet restaurants have food trucks and they all congregate in large parking lots and send "Tweets" so that their fans can find them.

:grouphug: Good luck Kim...

I hope she gets strong enough to start breathing on her own.

Kim, I hope she gets better!

Alison, here in Chicago, people can sell food out of a truck, but it has to be pre-made and pre-packaged. It can't be made IN the truck. :confused3

Also, working last!

The trucks out here have full grills (well flat tops), they cook hamburgers and all kinds of other things to order. The one that is really big out here is the Koji truck (or so I hear), they do Korean tacos. From what I hear on the news many of the big (celebrity type chef) restaurants have trucks. I used to eat from the Roach Coaches that would show up at my previous jobs. They would cook up breakfast burritos, I used to love them, eggs, sausage, bacon, ham, potatoes, cheese all wrapped into one. They also grilled up some great grilled ham & cheese sandwiches. I believe most even have deep fryers and make fries and onion rings. A lot of these trucks cater to the Hispanic community so they make burritos & tacos with the meat grilled to order. Some even have Chicken Mole on special days.

A lot of times late at night you'll find these trucks parked outside bars late at night or other places where there are no fast food restaurants. Not that I see them often, but occasionally after band gigs we are in rather, ahem, parts of town, where the trucks are parked.

Yeah, those are illegal here. Restaurant owners are trying to change that, but right now, it's illegal here. Which I guess is sad. I don't know if I'd buy dinner from a truck :lmao:

I just updated my TR! I only have two more days to post and then I'll be about to start my next PTR! :yay: I'm thinking of combining my three tickers into one PTR. Not sure, though. What do you think?

Some are really pretty good, others not so much. When I worked at Packard Bell that was my first truck experience, they made the best breakfast burritos. I never bought my dinner from a truck but imagine you're starving at work, you didn't bring anything and right around the time of your first break there is a truck that will make you just about anything you can find at a coffee shop, at half the price! I've only eaten off of a few trucks and it's all about the cook (owner), some are awesome, others are just eh....

I read your last update. I don't like TR's that aren't focused. There's a gal on the DL Thread who has a "Never Ending TR" I just can't even try and get into it because I like things to have a beginning and then an end. I think you could talk about other stuff on your TR, but I don't think you should put all three into one. You might even think about doing your DL TR on the DL board and you'll get a lot of DL people who don't even venture to the WDW boards.

Along that last post, people who post on the DL board about being WDW vets and planning a trip to DLR often get a lot of followers because DL people are passionate about their resort and want to help poor misguided WDW vets feel welcome. :lmao:

Well, that's my problem here at work :lmao: I get hungry at 2am and have forgotten my lunch, I wind up ordering takeout. Probably not any better than doing a truck, but hey :lmao:

I don't like TRs that aren't focused, either. I play around with my PTR, but that's also why I do chapter links, so that people who just want the trip talk can find it easily. I think I'll combine the two WDW trips, since I'm not sure if the first one (with Jacquie and Ian) will even happen. Her knee still hasn't been fixed and due to their financial situation and the fact that she doesn't have insurance, so she has no idea when the surgery will happen. It's going to be very expensive without insurance, so we have no idea if they'll even be able to afford to go. I really don't think it'll happen, to be honest.

I was thinking about putting a PTR on the DLR forum, but I hadn't decided :lmao: So I think I'll do two PTRs :)

One post before cooking dinner LAST

And that is good advice about doing a PTR on the DLR site.....

I made noodles.

Took a packet of Chow Mein noodles, boiled it in water until soft. Drain and flavoured with oyster sauce.
Placed it on a bed of wilted Chinese cabbage.

Then I fried some prawns, young corn and snow peas.
Made a sauce with vegetable stock and corn flour.
Added the prawns to the stock and poured the whole lot over the noodles.

YUM!

The whole family loves this meal.

That's good! I had a can of chicken soup for my lunch. Kinda bleh, but could be worse. Could also be much better, though :lmao:

....well, my MiL is off the ventilator, although she still has an oxygen mask to aid her breathing...today the heart doctor is going to be putting a camera up the vein in her leg to see if she needs a stent - I'm thinkin' yeah....

Here's what we had for dinner last night....Turkey Pot Pie
