Oh my goodness, I feel your excitement. Travely safely and really, really enjoy. We look forward to hearing all about it!:yay::yay::yay:

OK.....I know that I have read about the phone calls from the characters. Can you remind me how to make that happen??:confused3

HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!:yay:

Have a safe and magical trip! Looking forward to a trip report.

...just curious where you are coming from, since we are doing the Fort for the FIRST time this coming Halloween, coming from southern New Jersey.

...just wondering what your travel plan consists of, i.e. driving/stopping, etc with the kids, etc.

....yes, DO post how you made those phone calls happen...how COOL is that???

Came from Central MA. Weleft at Midnight least night and made it to Ashland, VA in 12 hours....missed the 287 west exit and the garmin kept on trying to put us onto a section of road we coould not travel with the camper due to haz mat restrictions in new york...worked it out though and crossed the tampanzee bridge. All went well until we hit 95 in Virginia. Crawled for over 100 miles at an avg of 25 mph...ugh. We are at a koa in ashland that looks to be just an overnight place. We head out to Fort mccalister in Savannah, GA tomorrow morning then arrive at the fort on Monday at about 1!. I will let you know how it goes! 580 Miles into the trip the and ready to sleeeeep...but enjoying a beer or two first;)

Wow...you are smack in the middle of your trek right NOW....hang in there....you WILL get to destination FW eventually, lol, lol !!!

Being more north than us I can see why you are taking the 2 breaks in VA and GA. How many miles from MA to FW total for you? Again, just curious to see how others do it. Our tentative plan is to leave around 3 a.m in order to get around Baltimore and Wash, DC BEFORE morning rush hour, then just continue on til about 3 p.m. and stop wherever we land. Hoping we get at least halfway through SC by that point, then stop, relax sleep and pull out 7 a.m hoping to arrive at the Fort by the 1 ish checkin time. We shall see, right, lol, lol.

I know exactly what you mean about the c-r-a-w-l on 95 as soon as you cross over into VA. We had that same problem a few weeks ago on a trip to VA mountains....everything was fine, then drove like a snail for a good 25-35 miles....it's torture, isn't it :(

We too took the Tapan Zee bridge 2 years ago when going up to Bar Harbor, ME. It was a good alternative to the GW bridge to get around NYC.

Keep us posted and have a safe and wonderful trip !!!

Made it to Savannah GA today just over 500 miles from Ashland, VA..pretty ride through va and the Carolinas especially North. Much easier ride than yesterday. Stopped for lunch at a Cracker Barrel in South Carolina after a cool bridge over a large lake. Cruise control came in quite handy today. Now resting at fort mccallister in Georgia for the night. Drove through the heaviest rains I ever have today and the humidity can be cut with a knife. southern drivers need to learn how to move into a lane witha little more space rather than constantly cutting in with inches of room causing many fender benders...and they say massachusetts drivers are bad...signage along the way was great...couldn't covince the wife to stop at the risque in sc..I mean they are open 24/7...south of the border had great signs and seemed like an interesting spot while jr outlet seems to sell everything...finally anyone need fireworks?..Tomorrow its off to Disney!

1090 miles in...a few hundred to go.

Really glad your trip is going well! North Carolinians are proud of our state and how pretty it typically is. There used to be some Disney signs on 95 north of Rocky Mount, did you notice any?
