I have mixed feelings about this first camping trip. There are many things I miss about the other Disney resort experiences.
That being said the grounds are beautiful and the staff has been so helpful.
We have two days left and will soak up every moment of Disney Magic we can muster.

Glad you are enjoying your time! It really is different strokes for different folks, so you're definitely within your right to miss certain aspects of different resorts. Is there anything in particular that you're missing?

One thing I miss at the Fort and at the deluxes is the food courts, they make a quick snack really simple. I often wish the Fort had some sort of little ice cream and bakery stand. We'd love to be able to take an evening stroll and have a treat.

A big thing I miss about the Fort when I'm at other resorts is the space to breathe. We love having our space for hanging out outside and riding bikes etc. It is just more laid back for us.

There are pros and cons to all of the resorts and it is fun to compare!

I really do miss those food courts :) on the other hand we have grilled twice and that was nice.
I miss having clean towels and someone picking up the room for us, lol!
The bus system is so much quicker and we like all of the decorations and themes in the other places.
I do enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of the fort and the friendliness. We would do it again and plan differently next time.
Overall, very happy and thankful for the experience.

The Fort may not have a food court, but there is the Meadow Snack Bar by the pool. You can get pizza, hot dogs, ice cream, sandwiches and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic).

We've done DVC stays so much that I forget about daily housekeeping!

I never even think about the snack bar, good reminder! I wonder what the general hours are.

I still would like a little bakery/ice cream parlor...have I mentioned that? :p

I think it is all about what your family enjoys and what you consider to be "Disney". Our first Disney trip was to the Fort in our camper. Since then, we have stayed at the Fort several times, stayed at POR one time and have a trip planed to stay at POFQ in November. We miss the Fort when we stay somewhere else and the Fort just feels like our Disney home! To each his own! Glad you are having a good trip!

To me one of the best things about the Fort is just being friendly to people. We've had so many great experiences there. We went in February and stayed in one of the cabins. We rented a golf cart and on one of the mornings it was so cold it felt like Christmas so on our way driving the golf cart down to the boat dock we all sang jingle bells. It made so many people smile and wave at us. It really is a feeling of community and at least you have some separation and are not on top of each other like at the resort hotels.
