All I can say is WOW...........whoever said there are not crowds a few days ago isn't in the parks now LMAO.

DH and I have gone to DL many times and this is by far the busiest we've ever seen it.....walking ANYWHERE is hard- more like trudging rather than walking.

Wait times are topping 30 minutes for basic rides like Winnie the Pooh and Splash is up to 120 mins......

DH and I spent most of the day people watching just because moving in the park was so uncomfortable.

We usually go to DL in June and not Aug and i'm wondering if its usually more crowded in Aug?? Anyway......lol

Aw phewey! We are arriving tomorrow, 30 minutes for pooh?
what's up with that? That's got to be a first lol
wow.........:scared1: I bet it's super hot too :(
oh well guess we will do our best :)

We were there last week and thought it was super crowded, so I was surprised to read others who were there at the same time thought it wasn't! The night we did the F! seating, the CMs commented on how crowded it was and told us that both F! seatings were sold out in advance, which they said was rare for the 10:30 show.

I hope the crowds start winding down for you! :goodvibes

I remember someone on the DIS saying that the SoCal AP Holders' Passes had block out days all through the summer but then the block out days were going to be lifted in August and they could return to the parks. However, I assumed that the lifting of the block out days was later in August. I didn't think it was so soon, but maybe it is. Maybe that is the reason for the massive crowds (just like when June became super crowded right before the block out days set in)??

Nope, the SoCal APs are still blocked out until 8/16. Imagine what it will be like next week :scared1:

I totally agree. We were there the same time as the other poster (July 30th - August 3) and have never seen it so crowded. The mornings were calm and manageable, but by 11:00 we were getting irritable, and by 3:00 couldn't move! We also always travel during peak times, and have never seen it this bad!

Wow!:scared1: is right! Next week, look out! Yikes! I wonder why the massive crowds this week then. Eek.:scared1::scared1::scared1:

We were there Sunday and Monday and Monday was much busier than Sunday, believe it or not. Despite it all, I always have a great time!

Also, don't forget that the summer fun passes! the first use has to be by the 23rd, and must be used in 45 days. So anyone that has leftover days from the beginning of the summer is running out of time.
Not to mention school is starting soon, so trying to sqeeze in one last trip can also crowd the parks.

We were there Monday through Friday last week (3-8) and I thought it was pretty crowded. HOWEVER, the ride lines weren't too bad until late afternoon. We practically WALKED onto stuff like Dumbo and Small World. Longest lines were Space Mountain, Indy, Nemo subs and Buzz Lightyear. In CA Adventure, the longest lines were GRR and Toy Story Midway Mania (which was never more than 40 minutes, however.)

I don't think I've ever felt so smooshed walking around the parks, but I HAVE seen ride lines longer. Parades, fireworks and Fantasmic were insanely crowded.

So, I'm torn on whether to say the crowds were worse or better than usual. It just seemed, uh, WEIRD. :confused3

This sounds like a job for Hydroguy! *cue the hero fanfare*

I'm hearing "So crowded you can't move by midafternoon"... been there, done that. Youall know the solution.. get there at opening, collect FPs, and get the heck out of Dodge, er, Disneyland by noon for a break back at the hotel. Come back when the crowds are thinning out after 4 p.m. and use all your FPs. :thumbsup2

That's my usual plan, too, but I had some "unhelpful" family members this time around. AND crowds DIDN'T thin out in the late afternoons/evenings! They just kept COMING! Even our early entry morning was PACKED.

Go on a Saturday... tell me what you think on the crowds... :)

projected guest attendance on sat is the lowest of all 7 days with Sunday-Monday being the highest Projected guest attendance of the week. Friday and tuesday as #2 and wed thurs right behind it. BUT Sat is still in last place... IRONICALLY...

That's what happened to us too! :lmao: We left for a break and came back in the evenings, thinking we were sooo smart, lol, but the crowds were worse! :confused3 Even the times we thought DCA would be less crowded did not work out for us.

Still, we made sure to follow Hydroguy's tips and hardly waited in line for anything. :thumbsup2 It was just dealing with the heat and the crowds made it a bit annoying sometimes. We had a blast though!

Interesting, I am sure I will be amazed by the crowds next week. My daughters will be looking for you, Albort

This is the approach we followed last week and it wasn't too bad. Rode 6 or more rides by mid day with 5 to 10 min waits at most. Pulled a few fast passes and came back and rode them later in the day. I must say I was surprised when on our last day the Soarin Fast Pass line was past Taste Pilots Grill. Never seen a FP line before... Most of the time we just didn't go back at night, watched fireworks from our room a few times, but wasn't planning on dealing with the fireworks crowds with two little ones anyway. One thing to note, many big rides were down during the week. One day both Splash and Space Mountain were down, then Matterhorn. I was surprised at this, but I've never been during the Aug so didn't have anything to compare.

Now Legoland was even worse! They didn't open until 10am and all rides had 60min waits by noon. Not worth it so we left and went to the beach! Don't think we'll go back there again.

Yikes! I'm sweating now. Our one day in the parks is Aug 18th, so I guess I can expect heavy crowds!

That's weird because I plugged my info into RideMax and I thought the wait times it calculated were pretty short. :confused3 Maybe I should revisit RideMax & recalculate my "plan of attack".

I really need to avoid the crowds because my dd6 has Asperger's and I need to keep the chaos level somewhat low. I guess odds are not in our favor.

:scared1:

We'll be there next week too, and while I'm anticipating big crowds, I'm hoping that since a lot of LA schools are back in session that it won't be too horrid. I can dream ;)

unfortunately, I recently got another promotion so i may not even be in the park on certain days... :)

Congrats on the promo, we will be in the parks all next week so they will try and find you.

Jack
