Here now, when does it cool down?

I knew it would be hot but still was not prepared for this. According to my car it was 94 at 4:30 P.M. when we arrived. We were melting just walking around DTD. By 6:30 nothing had changed. When does it start cooling off? When does it get really hot during the day? I’m wondering when we should leave and return to the park.

Once the sun goes down it will cool off. It's currently 79* in Anaheim and the high was 93* today. Its more humid than normal for sure. We live locally and were there yesterday.

It doesn't get really comfortable until after 9PM on most days this time of year. I mean, it's definitely better as the sun goes down, but it's just bad this time of year. The hottest part of the day is around 2PM-5PM in terms of when to take a break. Otherwise, just drink a lot of water and pace yourselves. The good news is you won't need a jacket.

Be there soon. I assume it's shorts and t-shirt from park open until close (ie. no jacket required, even at park close)?

Depends on when you will be here but unless you need a jacket at 70* you will be fine. Anaheim will be in the high 80's to low 90's this week for the high. The AC can make the restaurants chilly though.

We were there a couple weeks ago. Highs in the upper 80s. I never needed a jacket, but my kids did pull theirs out later in the evening. We are from Colorado, so the humidity makes a difference for us.

We were there during the heat wave. I think it was 114 or 117 at the highest. I could tell a major difference after the sun went down, but I thought Disneyland was much better than DCA because of all the vegetation. If the high is in the mid-nineties, then late afternoon should be ok if you stay out of full sun most of the time. For us it was the sun exposure that was the hardest part.

It's uncomfortably warm and it's made worse right now by the fires burning in Riverside county. The smoke is making the air feel more humid and keeping the warm air, seemingly, closer to the ground. I think there's a stalled high pressure system hanging over us that means our typical, breezy afternoons and evenings aren't happening and that's why we aren't getting much of a cool down at night. This pattern will continue for awhile, so just get used to it.

If you are coming in the next 2 weeks at least, no need for a jacket or sweatshirt. It is warm and sunny early in the morning and warm at night too.

Still better than WDW in July.

Honestly, not really. I spent 10 days in WDW this month. The whole time we were there, it was hotter at Disneyland.

I spent Saturday the 21st at DCA and we were MELTING all day. It was brutal. We had to spend a lot of time indoors trying to cool off. It was far worse than any of my days at WDW. At least there, it was usually partly cloudy and you'd get a break from the sun every so often, and it would rain every day and bring the temps down to the mid 70s for the rest of the evening. At DCA that day, it was just sweltering until the sun went down around 8pm, and even then, was still warm.

Thanks! This is not my kind of weather at all! I was shocked that it was humid and muggy and already awful at 7:00 a.m. waiting for our shuttle to the park. At 10 PP photographer in the shade waiting for Jedi Training was dripping with sweat down his face. We discussed how horrible the weather is. No breeze at all anywhere. My kids were absolutely miserable.

Yeah, July/very early August is monsoon season. So, even though we rarely get rain, it's generally more humid than other times of the year. I've lived in southern California for about 27 of my 33 years and I still manage to block out how bad it is until the next year rolls around. At least it's not Florida. I saw in your profile that you're from the central coast. I lived in that general region for 3 years while in college. I wish I could move back half the time to avoid this miserable heat. At least you're only visiting and it's not permanent. Hopefully you're enjoying your time even with the heat.

I wish we could bring the fog with us here Beachdreamr! DD asked Elsa for a cloud of our own because it’s too hot!

I just went yesterday for a one day trip with the family. I was surprised at how warm it was in the morning and late evening. It usually cools off, but it never did. Felt humid, although not Florida/WDW humid. It was 11pm at night and Splash was still a 30 minute wait. That NEVER happens at DL. By 10pm, it's usually 5 minutes max, if not walk on. But these warm evenings are very un-SoCal.

I just visited after a weekend in San Francisco and let's just say there was quite a difference! It's pretty great that so many rides at Disney are dark and cool, it's a nice reprieve! And only a few have lines where you feel like you might roast while waiting, ha.

The whole time we were there, it was hotter at Disneyland.

The humidity in FL makes it different though.

I’m visiting my brother in San Diego right now. His in laws now have a house in Orlando. They snowbird in the opposite direction, staying here spring through summer then going back to Fl. And even they are happy to be here despite it being in the solid 90s (unusual for here) bc they are simply more miserable this time of year there than here.

It's been humid here too. I live here (near Disneyland). I can say with certainty that yesterday when we were at the parks at 3pm, I was sweating way more profusely than I did at any point during my WDW vacation. It was 96 at 4pm yesterday. It was 83 when we left at almost 8pm. It's hotter than usual.

Right now it is 77 degrees and 70 percent humidity on Main Street at Disneyland, at 8:30 in the norning. It is uncomfortable, to say the least.

Anaheim is usually at least 10 degrees warmer than San Diego.

It can cool down when the sun goes down. The first time I went I was actually shocked at how hot it was. I always heard how amazing Cali weather is and how much nicer the weather is at DL versus WDW but I found DL to be even hotter then WDW. I think its the fact that there are virtually no clouds in CA so the sun really beams down on you. Also the times I went there is a much greater difference between the cool down periods and the hot peaks. I was surprised that I was chilly in the morning, then uncomfortably hot and then chilly again int he evening. I was used to Florida where there isn't much of a difference between the afternoon and evening.

as a visitor to SF, I find that a very strange area, in May it can be a tad more than warm...but the end of August....it is darn right cold....colder than an Oregon beach during sumer.
