Okay, I got here Saturday, Oct. 3rd. Staying at BWV.

We ate at Kimonos Sushi Bar. Had the soft shell crab roll, tuna roll and eel roll.
All were excellent. Very fresh and beautiful presentation. Great service here. Had several mojitos as well. The place was dead for 7pm on a Saturday night. We sat at the bar but there were maybe 3 full tables.

Sunday, we went to ESPN club for the Bears game. The pre show was too fun. We shared nachos and then the angus burger with fries. The burger was great, prefectly cooked and dressed (could have used onion!) but the nachos were just okay. Our friend had the rueben which I tried and was EXCELLENT. Very good meat....he thought the bread was a little thick.

Today, we went to 50's Prime Time. It's okay. Fried chicken is what it is according to DH. He sort of wished he would've gotten something else. He said the mashed potatoes were not hot and the greens were good. The onion rings were good...the horseradish sauce though was divine. The pot roast was very good....very tender, nice flavor. Also had a Electric Lemonade at the bar while waiting for a table. This was good but the bar service was TERRIBLE. It was VERY slow....10 minutes to make 3 drinks!!! And another 5 to get the bill!! YIKES.

Tonite....San Angel. Tomorrow, the Plaza, Wednesday, Cali Grill. Thursday, V&A. And Friday, GF Tea. Will report back. Sorry, I don't do pics of food!!!

Just a side note, it is humid and pretty warm here and the crowds are okay. Manageable but busy. 20 minutes for RNR and 60 minutes for Toy Story!!! That is the longest line I have ever waited in at WDW and I have been here 10 times!!!

I'll be back!!!

Okay, I'm back!! We walked around F&W fest this evening....understand that we shared between 4 people.

Loved the escargot in France....served in little cups of bread....yum yum. Very buttery.
The crab cake in San Fran was good....DH makes great ones though and they are hard to beat.
Boxty from Ireland....hmmm, this was interesting. A sweet potato pancake with grilled onion and bacon filling. It was good.
Also had the potato leek soup here....wow, it was great!!!
Not a special for F&W, we had a Grey Goose Lemon Slush and a glass of Dornfelder in Germany. My faves.

Finally, had a 7pm ADR at 9 Dragons. Seated immediately. VERY attentive service. Kam, our server, was very good, very friendly.
Had the Shrimp Taro Lollipops and the Beef Cong You Bing...both EXCELLENT. The 5 spice sauce served with the pops was the best.
The Beef Cong You Bing was like a chinese pizza...very crispy, good green onion taste.
DH and I shared the General Tso's Chicken over Spinach noodles. LOVED IT. So flavorful. The noodles were soooooo good.
Our friends had the noodle sampler and loved that too....very fun, you kind of design your own bowl of noodles, veggies, sauce.
Overall, 9 Dragons was one of my best World Showcase dining experiences. And I have done everything except San Angel, Rose and Crown and Bistro.

Tomorrow, lunch at an unknown destination as of yet and the Plaza....

Me too! There is nothing better than reading a live review....well maybe writing one!

I updated my original post to include 9 Dragons and others....so check it out!

And now, Beaches and Cream.

DH and I split the onion rings which were great....DH likes ranch to dip and they have Ken's, his favorite ranch of all time!!

We split the burger and fries. Honestly, it was nothing special. I really feel like the ESPN burger was FAR superior. We aren't big ice cream eaters so we didn't have any dessert. We wouldn't make a special trip here. The service was VERY slow. The food arrived VERY quickly but getting a server or a bill was a workout. We arrived at 11:20am and were sat immediately...at the counter as per our request. There were maybe 3 other tables full. When we left at 12:15, the place was full. No one was waiting though. Up next, Plaza at MK...going for MNSSHP. It's raining right now though, which stinks. Oh well.

Well, we went to the Plaza tonite before MNSSHP because I got such great reviews here. The service was TERRIBLE....everyone working there looked miserable. We were seated only 5 minutes after checking in. The rest of the service wasn't as quick. I had the vegetarian sand with the broccolli slaw. I liked it alot. I also had the veggie chili. It was good but didn't have much kick. DH had the chicken sandwich with fries which he said was okay. Our friends had the rueben and the tuna. Both, just okay. The price was right however...with the TIW (yuck, that's Tables in Wonderland card!!) DH and I got out of there under $30. Pretty good for a TS dinner. Tomorrow, more F&W fest and then Cali Grill!!! So looking forward to both!!

Woot! Live reviews. And to answer your question...

Yes! I do want to know what you're eating!

I have a couple suggestions for the kiosk noshing: Chilaquiles in Mexico and the Lamb Slider in New Zealand. Hopefully they are still as good as last year. I'm hoping to try the New Orleans stuff, so try that for me, too. ;)

Spent 3 hours eating and drinking at F&W....I am not going to review the wines but I had several and they were all really good. There were four of us and each tasting had enough for us all to have at least a taste if not another bit or even 2 to 4 in some cases.

Santiago Chile...
Shrimp w/cilantro salsa...VERY good. Not too spicy.
Beef Empanada....my DH fave. VERY good.

Argentina...
Beef and Corn Pie....warning, this has olives!!! 3 of us HATE olives!!! After picking around these, we enjoyed this.
The Mouse Catch....
Loved the cheese trio...I especially liked the Dorothea w/ a hint of cilantro.

Mexico...
GREAT Chilaquiles...the tomatillos sauce was delish!!
Quesadilla con chorizo...basically what is says it is...nothing special.

Spain...
Tomato Garlic Soup...YUMMY!!! One of my top picks!!
Seared Tuna...eh, overcooked and nothing special at all!! Skip it. The red peppers underneath were good but not worth it.

Austria...
Tafelspitz (boiled beef brisket with horseradish sauce and potatos). This was a nice plain mild dish. The horseradish sauce was VERY mild. The potats were just undercooked which was actually good...hate when they are mushy and they're not supposed to be. I wouldn't do this again but it was good.

China...
Chicken Sha Cha...chicken on a skewer with sauce. It was very tender chicken. The sauce was an oyster sauce and on the sweet side. I liked it, DH did not.
Mango Gingerita...if you like ginger, you'll love it as did I!!! Oddly, it is made with RUM.

Africa...
Durban Spiced Chicken with Root Veggies...yum, yum. Delish. Nice mild curry flavor.

Australia....
Pepperberry Prawns with Sweet potato hash...we all loved this!! If you like grilled shrimp, you'lll love this.
Chilled Baramundi with fennel slaw...one of my faves. Kinda weird eating cold fish but it is very mild and the fennel slaw was crisp and refreshing.

San Fran....
Roasted Beet Salad....just a few chunks of beet on a salad. Nothing special and I am not crazy about goat cheese which it had. I wouldn't stop for this.

New Zealand...
Lamb Slider. Again, nothing special and really didn't like the sauce. An odd tasting brown sauce. My least favorite item.

And finally, a revisit to France....loved the escargot!!! If you've never had these and you like bread, butter and garlic, go for it!! You won't even know there is a snail in there!!! My friend and I finished off 3 orders!!!

Thank god I have 5 hours until Cali Grill cause we were stuffed!!! In a totally good way. We had a great time and we have a nice wine buzz and full tummies!!

This is exactly what we plan to get when we go there! Glad to see a review on it. I usually carry a little baggie in my purse w/ soy creamer, Stevia, and hot sauce packets so maybe we can add a little kick to ours. :)

Well, we went to Cali Grill last night. This is my first time there and my first to the Contemporary. First let me say that I am really glad I did not purchase more DVC pts here....I would have been disappointed. I was extremely unimpressed with the resort itself.

Now, onto dinner. We had a beautiful corner window table for 4 of us. DH ordered Snake in the Grass sushi for us to share. BBQ eel with shrimp tempura, avocado and cuke. VERY good. I missed the wasabi they normally serve with sushi but the ginger was POTENT and I liked it.

I next ordered the Salad of chilled watermelon, arugula, friseee, pickled red onion, feta and balsamic. LOVED it. So fresh tasting. I neved would have put watermelon in a salad, but now I will!!! DH ordered the lobster shrimp cakes. It was okay. Nothing all that. Our friends got the heirloom tomato soup which was ABSOLUTELY wonderful and the cheese board that I did get to sample!! YUM YUM. Loved the stuff served with it, the nuts, raisins, jellies, etc....

Next up, main course. DH had the pork, one friend and I the halibut, other friend the oak fired filet. Loved all 3. The Pork and goat cheese polenta was especially good. The buerre blanc sauce under the fish was so good I could have like the plate but used the sourdough bread they serve instead. Love bread and this lived up!!!

For dessert we ordered the banana creme brulee and shared. It was good. Again, nothing so special I would order again.

The service here was good but very slow....missed filling coffee, etc. Also, DH had one broken cocktail glass and then another dirty coffee cup. Hmmm. I liked Cali Grill but with all the other restaurants to try, I am not rushing back. I definitely wouldn't take kids here. It would be nice for a special occassion. I had a glass of wine and DH had 1 cocktail. We have DDE or whatever they call it now!! and it cost us $160 for the 2 of us with a little extra tip.

We did get to see Wishes from the terrace. Lovely but packed. We went inside halfway through to get a different view. Should have stayed at my table. Anyway, I would recommend Cali Grill but there are other equally good spots....or better....next up V&A!! Can't wait!!!

Love your reviews so far! Thanks for posting. We seem to have a similar palate. :)

I am SO jealous that you are going to V&A today. I have always wanted to go there. I can't wait to read about it. Enjoy!

Quick question...How spicy are the Pepperberry Prawns in Australia? I like a little heat, but DS does not and he LOVES seafood. TIA! :goodvibes

I've got California Grill and V&A on my agenda for next week, so I'm getting my vicarious thrills from you. ;) I have dined at both before, but I'm still excited to be going back. :goodvibes

I did not find the Pepperberry Prawns to pack much heat at all...DH should be safe if he doesn't like heat.

I'm enjoying your report! I can't wait to hear your review of V&A's. If you can, can you post the entire menu along with your review?

Yes, I will post the entire menu and try to remember what we all had....I will at least know my and DH picks. I am looking forward to the foie gras and the cheese course!!! DH is looking forward to the seafood and the carmelized banana gateau....hope they have it and the elk!!! I will report tonite if I am not too intoxicated!! Planning the wine pairings!!

ah the foie and the cheese, def my 2 faves! I love the stilton cheesecake they do sometimes...to die for!
enjoy! :)

Thank you! If he doesn't like them, I'll just have to eat the rest. ;)

I hope you are enjoying your dinner at V&A! :goodvibes
