We are at VWL right now!!

The cast: myself (DM), DH, DS (9), and DD (7)

Day 1: We arrived early to VWL, and decided to tour the WL and let the kids play. Our room was ready around 3PM...we are staying in a one bedroom villa. The room is very clean!! Some of the furniture is showing some wear...some of the furniture has been replaced. We are excited about being so close to MK!! Off the MK for dinner at Tony's Town Square. We had the chicken parm. and it was really good. Now off to Splash Mountain (the crowd was HUGE - the wait time was around 100 minutes). Then off to Haunted Mansion....my favorite!! Then to our special spot for the Parade...it was great as always!!!! After the parade we decided to head back to WL.

Day 2: We slept in...Epcot today. Again, the crowds were HUGE!! We rode Space Ship Earth, Test Track, and Mission to Mars... We had lunch at the Land and then rode Soarin'...another favorite!! Then back to WL to get ready for dinner at 'Ohana. Took the boat to MK then monorail to Poly. Resort. 'Ohana must be one of the busiest restaurants at WDW. Again, the crowds were large...We loved 'Ohana's!!! We will definitely be eating here again. we then headed down to the beach to watch the fireworks and the kids played on the beach! I think this was the best part of our vacation so far....they kids loved it!!

Day 3: We slept in again...lol! DHS today...took the bus to DHS, it was fairly quick. We love DHS!! My DD wanted to ride TOT first, so we squeezed our way through the crowd (Christmas time crowds) to TOT. Then, we rode RRC....again the crowds were shocking!! We rode TSM, then off the watch Light Motors Action...we really like the new show with Lighting McQueen!! Then, Muppets 3D...the kids really liked this show! Now off the dinner at Prime Time 50's Cafe....one of our favorites!! I had the fried chicken, DH had the sampler, DD had the mac & cheese, and DS had the kids meatloaf...and for dessert DH and I shared the Dad's Brownie Sundae...yummy!!! Kids had the ice cream sundaes, too. Now off the get seated for Fantasmic, we rounded the corner of Sunset Blvd. and were stopped by this HUGE crowd....it was the line to get into Fantasmic!! I was shocked, again!! The show was great....we had great seats (3rd row) except we got wet and it was cold....lol!!

Day 4: In the room...DS is sick...vomited twice last night...stomach bug or over ate... and he is mad at me cause I made him stay in the room while DH and DD are off for breakfast at Tusker House at AK. But, I think he needs to rest and let whatever this is pass... I am just hoping and PRAYING that no one else gets sick... We have 4 more days in our trip... Lunch tomorrow is planned at Biergarten, dinner Thursday dinner is planned at Boma, Friday dinner at LLT, and Saturday dinner is planned at Chef Mickeys...

Hope your son gets to feeling better soon and that no one else gets sick.

Thanks all!!!

DD and I went to Downtown Disney tonight. We split a club sandwich at Earl of sandwich. We always enjoy their sandwiches. Crowds were lighter than I expected. Did some shopping at Once upon a toy and Mickey's pantry (loves the spices). Then we had sundaes at Ghiredella's...yummy!!! I didn't realize that Basin was closed... Fingers crossed that the bug is GONE!!

The two worst times ever that I've been ill both happened at the World. Throws a real kink into your plans! Enjoy VWL and best wishes for a sick-free rest of your trip. ;)

I hope everyone is well. We'll be at the VWL on Saturday. Needless to say - can't wait. The WL is my 2nd home and with any luck I'll hit the lottery and get to retire there:). Enjoy your trip and bugs be gone.

Day 5: DS is much better and want to go to AK today. We took the bus to AK...longer trip than I expected... The crowds were much more manageable today. We first watched It's Tough to be a Bug. Then to watch Festival of the Lion King....my favorite!! We then went over to the safaris...it was so awesome!!!! We saw all the animals... This is the first time we have seen some many animals. Now to watch Nemo....another favorite. Well, I finally gave in and rode the rapids ride for the first time ever!!!! And of course I got soaked even with a poncho on...lol but it was great!!! We then decided to come back to the VWL to shower and get dressed for dinner at Boma's. We arrived early to tour the resort. It is a nice resort, but very dark at night. Well, this is when the fun ended...we ate dinner, the kids did not like anything and DH and I weren't impressed either :(. We enjoy many other restaurants at WDW for less money. Then DS started feeling bad on the bus back to MK...I was panicking inside that he was going to throw up on the bus but we made...and took the boat back to the WL without getting sick...:) . We are planning to go to Epcot tomorrow...hopefully everyone is feeling well!!

Day 6: We slept in again.. We had lunch today at Germany Biergarten in Epcot. We love this restaurant...kids didn't eat much of anything... DH loves it!! We then rode Test Track (2nd time), did the Coca-Cola testing...we always enjoy this!! Then off to Soarin' (2nd time) and then Space Ship Earth. Then, we came back to the villa and rested for a little while, and cooled off...it was hot today. Tonight we decided to go to DHS to catch the last American Idol of the day, and also did the drawing session. Then, we went to Downtown Disney...we had sandwiches at Earl of Sandwich and wonderful ice cream sundaes at Ghiradella's...this is our favorite!!! Good night!!

Day 7: Slept in again.. We ate breakfast in the villa and just watched TV. Then, we brought the kids swimming (it is 90 degrees!!) They are now napping and getting rested for tonight... We are having dinner at Whispering Canyon here at WL. Our original plans were to have dinner at LTT, but DH really likes Whispering Canyon much better (and I like it too)!! After dinner we will go to MK...we love taking the boat over to MK.:cloud9:

Glad to hear your son is feeling much better. Have a great dinner tonight!:thumbsup2

We will be there in exactly 1 week!!! :cool1: How is the weather? I am sooo ready, I am hoping we can get one of those corner studios! Glad your having a great trip.

glad your child is better.

hope that it was just President week and not that February will be as busy as March, April (spring break).

like Boma for breakfast a lot better than dinner.

Day 7: Well, we had dinner at Whispering Canyon at WL...it was wonderful!! I love the salad and cornbread. We then headed to MK to enjoy the night. We took the boat over to MK. We started with Tomorrow Land...Stitch, Buzz, Speedway, then over to Fantasy Land...tea cups, Pooh, Peter Pan, It's a Small World, Haunted Mansion...picked up a cinnamon roll from Main St. Bakery for breakfast the next morning. Kids wanted to stop in the Candy Shop...:lovestruc
MK was basically empty cause it was around midnight...:)

Day 8: We slept in again...ate breakfast in the villa (I had my cinnamon roll...yummy!!). We started packing up and loaded some stuff into the van...:sad1: Then, we headed to MK in the early afternoon....we enjoyed the parade and rode several rides, again...We had the best time at the Block Party "Parade" we stopped right in front of the castle as they stop to have the party...we had lots of room to dance and play around....the float right in front of us was "Mickey and Minnie" they kept blowing kisses and waving to the kids. The performers were dancing with DD!! It was truly awesome!!:cloud9: We rode the Speedway cars one more time...our last ride. Dinner was at Chef Mickey's...the wait was pretty crazy (they were running over a hour behind), so we just walked around and let the kids watch TV. I usually don't like the food, but it was really really good!! We were seated right next to the entrance for the characters, so we were able to see some of the characters several times!!

Even though DS got sick one day....it truly was a GREAT vacation!! We really enjoyed the down time to relax and enjoy the WL resort! The kids really liked the beach area and roasting marshmallows. I can't wait for the next one :cloud9:

Other than the illness, sounds like a great trip! We were at VWL this past week too, but only for three nights (2/21 through 2/24). It's my DD 15's favorite place so she was happy to be there.

Unfortunately, had to come back to the cold and snow and told my DH that I want to go back in May, even though we have an August trip planned.:rotfl:

Hmmm...I wonder what I could bribe him with to let me go!!!!

Thanks for the report my La Kin!!! We are hoping to check out VWL (the only WDW resort we haven't conquered yet) if our add-on goes through this November... we are excited!!! Thanks again...

Glad to read your son was feeling better and you were able to enjoy your vacation! I got a warm fuzzy feeling as I read of your Lodge experience and your 90 degree temps! Ohio is cod and rainy today. What I wouldn't give for some warmth and sunshine.......
