Here now, two new complaints

I'm in Orlando for business, and managed to spend today at EPCOT.

I'm glad to say that I had some of the best interactions I've ever had with cast-members. They seemed to really be going out of the way to help. Every piece of service was at least above average, and some of it was outstanding.

I also noticed partway through the day that pretty much nothing was bothering me. All of the standard things people (sometimes me) complain about here on the Boards. YOU know those things... the ones that open cans of worms and start wars on threads. I just wasn't interested or concerned about who (for example) was using a scooter.

But, by the end of a long day, I had two things that were bugging me.

1. What makes people think that they can push to the front of a line so they (or their kids) can pin trade with the cashier? Leaving EPCOT tonight, two families effectively shut down a register (and a long line of people) because they bypassed the line, went behind the counter, and started a complicated pin trade transaction. Come on... wait in line.

2. Disney has got to stop selling those glowing light-saber things. Someone's going to get an eye poked out! If you haven't seen them, they're about 3 feet long, and when turned on, the entire thing glows. Not only do people turn them on while in an attraction (way worse than a flash camera), but they walk around waving them all over the place. Once it got dark out, I almost go smacked a few times.

Anyway, those are my stupid rants. All in all, I'm more than happy to have got to spend even one day at Disney!

This is one of those things that irritates the bejeebers out of me, too. I didn't see it on my last trip, thank heavens, but I really hate it when people push into the front of a line in front of paying customers to trade pins. It's rude.

When I see a lanyard-wearing CM and they are busy with another guest, I will stand to the side to look and see if they have any pins I'm interested in. If they look up and ask me if I need some help, I always tell them that I'm just looking at their pins and if I want to trade I'll wait until they're done with all the transactions.

agnes!

The one thing that I found annoying was all the people talking on cell phones.

I just don't get it...... ON vacation and yak, yak, yak!!!

There was one lady on the bus with an 8 yr. old and probably a 2 1/2 yr. old. The Grandmother was with them as well. The mom folded up the stroller and was trying to hold on to it and her little one while standing on the bus. Where was the Grandmother - talking away on her cell phone. I took the stroller from the Mom and she was then able to pick up her little one. The bus made it to Animal Kingdom (from ASMovies) and Grandma was still talking with a friend on the phone. Grandma got off the bus and left Mom to bring the little and stroller. We kept the stroller and took it off the bus for the lady. As we were walking away, our dd heard the Mom telling the Grandmother that it was pathetic that strangers had to help cuz talking on the phone was more important....

Just one of the many examples of cell phone usage.

I do know that some calls have to be placed but when someone is getting a detailed description of how the day is going and blah, blah, blah, I don't think it is that important.

Just my little rant, sorry!!!!

My question to that lady is why didn't she say, "MOM! I NEED HELP" because that's what I would have done. :confused3

I've given up on the cell phone usage rant. I used to think the same.. "You're on vacation! Stop talking to people who aren't!" But I think it's become such an ingrained part of our society that it's not going to go away.

The only thing that bugs me about it is when people are talking on the phone during a themed part of a line. The line is supposed to be getting you into the mood for the whole experience. Fortunately, you lose the signal when you get into a lot of the buildings.

And Agnes! Thank you for being someone who is polite about the whole pin-trading thing (and not cutting in line). Personally, I don't want anything to do with it, but I'm glad to see others getting excited over it. Not to freak you out or anything, but the few pins I've accumulated over the years are probably lost. Otherwise, I'd send them to you!

It should be up to the CM to make sure they help the next person in line rather than indulge a line cutter who wants to trade pins. They should politely direct the trader to the end of the line and continue helping the customers in order.
