Here now - trying to add a park day

We were supposed to arrive late tomorrow night but had to change flight and arrived this morning due to snow storm.

I just asked front desk concierge about adding a day, and she said because I bought tickets prior to price increase that if I want to add a day then I have to pay the difference that I saved as well. So to go from a 4 day to a 5 day park hopper is over $50 a person! Has anyone heard about this, anything I can do besides take a day off, it seems ridiculous that tickets went up that much and also that we can't just pay the price for an additional day? Hope someone has a suggestion!

If you bought your tickets through Disney, try using them first, and then add the day afterwards.

If you use the tickets first, they will be able to bridge the price.

Ditto previous poster. Use the tickets, try to add the day at the park guest services.

Thank you both! I bought through Undercover Tourist. I don't understand why you need to use them up and then add a day, I'd like to know if I can before all the days are used up if possible. Also, the concierge staff were having a lot of trouble with the system and kept calling someone over to try and figure out how to work things so I wasn't sure if it was new policy or just trying to learn a new system.

Keep us posted because there have been rumblings that the whole upgrading/adding on to 3rd party tickets has changed since the Feb. 23 ticket increase.

If you bought them at UT, you may have trouble. There is some info floating around that they are no longer allowing upgrades to be done at a discounted rate. If you bought the ticket prior to 2/24, you might be able to do it, but you still have to use it first.

Don't use it up, just use it once. This should update the ticket to current gate price if the CM does price bridging properly. If you use all days of the ticket prior to adding a day, you may not be able to add the day.

Will definitely report back, as I have learned so much from everyone on this board. I feel like new policies should be going forward but we will see what happens.

Got it, we will use one day and then try to add a day. Thanks again to everyone. Despite the hiccup it sure beats shoveling more snow at home!

Like the pp said don't wait till you have used them up, you just have to use the ticket once. I would also go to guest services in the park, not try to do it with the hotel concierge. Good luck! I'm hoping this issue of making changes with third party tickets is for new purchases but we'll find out soon I guess.

At least they are saying she can add on which is contrary to what the rumblings are. Fingers crossed!!!

You don't have to use them up, just use them one time. Then they are locked in to expire in 14 days so that Disney doesn't have an open liability on their books. Also, once used they are tied to you so that you can't buy discounted tickets, bridge them then sell them at a "discount" and still make a profit.

Not a problem - please keep your fingers crossed for us. Everyone here is a wealth of information, thanks for being my virtual concierge :)

would like to know how it works out for you. I have UT tickets, too, for August. Good luck!

Use the tickets at a park at least one time first, then upgrade them at either a Guest Relations outlet located directly inside and outside each park gate, or at one of the ticket booths right outside a park front gate. Don't try to upgrade your tickets at your hotel. They are not well-schooled in ticketing beyond the basics, and I believe they don't have access to the complete ticketing systems info like they do at the parks.

Reporting back: It worked exactly like folks said, thank you very much for the information.

We had purchased tickets from Undercover Tourist prior to price increase. We wanted to add another day because we had an extra day here due to changing flights from snow storm. We went to park, used them to enter park and then went to guest services and they were able to add extra days to the tickets. We ended up adding 2 days to a 4 day park-hopper and I think it cost $20 for both days per ticket.

Thanks again! Hope the info helps someone, it sure is better than the $100 the front desk wanted to charge me to add one day!

I will be attempting to upgrade Undercover Tourist tickets to Annual Passes next week using a similar method. May I ask where you upgraded your tickets? (Park? Guest Relations?)

I'm hoping that if I do it at the same location I will still be able to "price bridge" (although I've read that it is being phased out.)

Thanks for keeping us updated, hope you are having a wonderful trip!!

My favorite location is inside Epcot at Guest Relations.

Do the math, if it is more than you expect ask, but I wouldn't go asking about "bridging" off the bat. Don't forget to add tax.

Gate value of ticket you have, based on purchase date plus difference in current gate between what you have and what you want. Plus tax on difference. The tax is what I always forget.

I'm trying to find the before price increase gate prices so I can know what I expect to pay but may just need to add $10 to the current difference between ticket I have and ticket I will upgrade to.

Ticket booths out front have never been reliable about bridging. Not sure if they can and are just not as well trained or not, but I have always had luck inside Epcot in Future World to the right side if you are walking in, I'd say across from the camera shop but it may not be a camera shop anymore and it might have changed over years ago...
