Here now, SO much pixie dust!

Our family just returned from an amazing week long Spring Break trip. Was it busy? Yes, but expected. Were there rude guests? Yup, but didn't let that ruin my fabulous time. I am a firm believer that you get what you give. I choose to look for the good things in life, the best in people. I figure I can't change the actions of a rude guest, so why let them rain on my parade. A few bathrooms may have been in need of cleaning or repair, but the 1 million other amazing things Disney has to offer...I choose to focus on those things. Now that's not to say that those repairs shouldn't be made or the those bathrooms cleaned. I just choose to not let that be the take away from my once a year (or in this case every 3 years) Disney vacation.

I am so glad you are having a fantastic trip with lots of pixie dust.

Clearly the OP is a first timer who doesn't know how great it used to be, and how bad it is now. :rolleyes1

LOL! Gas used to be 37 cents a gallon---but guess what? It was still tough to buy!

MAGPIE, I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!! WOO HOOOOO! Your report! And I'm so glad to hear your report on Skipper's Canteen, I am actually super excited to try that out in December! I love the Jungle Cruise and that whole area so YAY! to hear you think it is awesome!

Here is hoping for even more :tinker: pixie dust! Have fun and God bless!

Your post is getting me excited for my trip! I did not know about being able to see the fireworks from the bridge at pop or about trading the cards at the firehouse either. We have a bunch of duplicates that I'd love to trade for different ones. Thanks!!

Yes, you can clearly see the Star Wars fireworks from POP so long as you are looking toward the lake. The view isn't straight on - almost a sideways view - but it is still pretty awesome. I did not know that they were piping in the music on the bridge - wish I had known last week. We got a clear view from our car while sitting in the parking lot of the 70's section.

Also, there's a guest several rooms away from us who is really not having a magical vacation. From the sound of him, he's a full grown man, and he was pitching a tantrum loud enough the other night that he woke up both me and my neighbour (but fortunately not her baby), in the middle of the night. And he made his little girl scream and cry. According to my neighbour, he was pitching another fit again yesterday afternoon, which I wasn't around for. But fortunately I didn't hear from him last night, so hopefully he's gone. I'm sorry his family has to put up with that.

Just because he's a grown man it doesn't mean he can't get cranky and tired by the end of a long day in the park. You know how they sometimes get overstimulated by the parades and fireworks and push well past their normal bedtime and then crash. Maybe if his kids had gotten him that toy he wanted he would have slept better at night and not been so cranky.

You can see the fireworks over HS from POP???? That is awesome! And I LOVE your post, thanks for sharing! Can't wait to get there myself and enjoy it!

We just stayed at Pop in mid-March. We were in the 50s building. I asked the CM at check in if we would have a view of the fireworks. He said "no". I had my doubts. At 9:30pm, we heard a loud boom. I ran out barefoot, all excited. We had an amazing view of the fireworks right from our room! I ended up walking down the balcony to get closer. The wind was right and we could hear the music faintly.

I wish I had known that they pipe the music in at the bridge now. We would have gone down as we much prefer fireworks with music.

I was very impressed with the view from Pop Century!

I think this is shaping up to be one of our best trips ever! Cast members have been wonderful, the busses have been running amazingly well, great conversations with other guests, beautiful weather, reasonable crowds, almost got all my stamps in the Festival booklet, finally did the Tea Garden tour, found great spots to sit and watch the Star Wars fireworks (wow!)...

And we keep running into random clouds of pixie dust!
:)

Great to hear you had a wonderful time. This is going to make waiting until December that much harder. We definitely plan to try the new Skipper's Canteen.

Thank you for your post! There's so much negativity around here it was starting to get me down. We're heading down in a few weeks and absolutely cannot wait for some pixie dust of our own!

Just a couple examples: Went to see if the cm at the fire station had either of the last two cards I was looking for. She didn't, but asked if I wanted to trade anyway, so I offered her one of my star duplicates, figuring it'd be a nice surprise for the next person coming along. Behind the card she gave me was one of the party cards, for a party I'd missed!

And the other night, we stopped in at guest services to make a fourth fastpass, only to find the machines down. So we asked the cm at the counter if she could make one for us. Instead, she gave us three, anytime, for our top three choices! Really made the night magical. :)

And there's been more!

It makes me a bit wistful that it will be nearly twenty months before we come back. Disney really seems to be stepping up their game with all the little extra touches this trip. Just the other night, for example, we noticed they were piping in the soundtrack to the Star Wars fireworks on the bridge between Aof A and Pop (nice view there, btw).

It's the little touches like that which make this place special. :)
Woohoo! You are having a wonderful trip!

So happy you are having a great time and some "Magical Moments"! I get so tired of the negative stuff! I always go down thinking what if I experience all this bad stuff I read about and it never happens..We love it every time and just know how to make the most of our Disney Vacations! We enjoy the little things and that is what is important! Most all the CM's we encounter are wonderful!! Enjoy the rest of your trip!:sunny::flower1::flower:

We will be there on May 24th and I can hardly stand it!!!

You sure can! The view is pretty good, too, though obviously you don't get the lower stuff.

Maybe it's just me, but if I heard an adult yelling in the middle of the night to the point that a child in that room was crying, I would report that immediately (especially if it was the second night in a row). These are signs of physical or emotional abuse. While it may have been a 'bad day,' and some may not think it's their business, if the well-being of a child is in question that, to me, is another matter.

Without knowing what room it was happening in, there's nothing to report. I would definitely have called the front desk about the disturbance he was creating if they were next door, but they weren't.

I am also interested in knowing if you can really see the Star Wars Fireworks from the bridge between AoA & POP. That would be super cool. Especially if they pipe in the soundtrack.

Yes, you absolutely can, though the lower fireworks are behind trees. The view is better from the upper floors, but the music only seems to be playing on the bridge.

So, so, SO happy to hear this.
I'm lucky enough to be participating in the International College Program this summer. I've been wishing to work at WDW since I was 15, but lately there's been so much negativity, uncharging, and general gloom that I was getting a little sad thinking that maybe it wouldn't be as magical as I thought. Nonetheless, I hope as a CM this summer I can make other people's vacations as amazing as yours!

The castmembers I've talked to seem to be having as wonderful a time as I am. I met a tour guide today who did three college programs, two professional internships, and is now on the Disney payroll full time. I think you'll have a great time! :)
