Hey all! It's 11:15, and I'm lying on a Heavenly bed relaxing at the Dolphin.
I should start with introductions, but meh, that stuff is boring. There's a link to my PTR where you can see who we are. What's important is:
a) What we eat
b) What we do
3) What we EAT!!!
The day started with me getting off work at 6:30a (I'm a nurse working night shift) & heading to the airport.
Our airport is small. Apparently, however, Spirit (the airline we chose) has decided to make 4 flights leave all at the same time. This results in mass chaos. We were in line for check in around 7a, and the flight was scheduled to leave at 8:30. I thought the woman in front of us in line was going to have a panic attack. The security check only had 2 lines open, so that took a while to get through as well. Our flight was relatively empty, due in part, I think, to the check in & security process taking so long.
Anyway, our flight was uneventful. We landed in Atlantic City NJ (WAY out of the way!), only to find that they were ready to close the gates on our flight to Orlando! The woman at the desk was SUPER nice
saying to me "Well, are ya getting on the plane or not?" right after she saw my husband run to get a bottle of water (she told him he had 10 minutes to do so. Apparently 10 minutes in NJ is not the same at 10 minutes in SC?
) Bless her heart, she was just upset she wasn't going to Disney
We landed in Orlando around 12:30 or so, and DH's friend who manages the front desk (at night) for Swan/Dolphin came & picked us up. We had lunch at Sweet Tomatoes. OMG. If you like salad, GO. It's a all you can eat soup, salad, bread, dessert bar. Everything was fresh & delicious, & less than $8 per person, if I remember correctly. (I'm in bed, I'm not getting up to read a receipt yet
)
By that time it was almost 3 & DH & I were ready to get to our room s & take a nap. The room our friend booked for us wasn't ready yet (a balcony room) but there was one with a water view & maybe a view of Illuminations. We took it. I was SO ready for a shower (by that point it'd been 24 hours, you would have been too) & a nap that I didn't much care if the room had a balcony at that point. I was almost ready to take a bath in the fountain in the lobby!
Here's some pics of the room:
We got cleaned up, took a nap for a few hours, then headed to Mandara Spa. Turns out, you can't have a massage if you're in your 1st trimester. I knew this, but had forgotten, so I had to reschedule for a facial for tomorrow morning. DH said his massage was good. I too the time to take advantage of the steam room & take some photos:
Entrance
Relaxation room:
Hidden Mickey!!!
Temple Room:
I also sat on the balcony with a cup of hot tea, listening to Bob Marley playing over the speakers, & watched employees set up a large stage for the Food & Wine Classic.
After DH's massage was done, we headed over to the Boardwalk for dinner. It's so nice to be able to wander over to another resort. The Boardwalk was busy, but not packed. We ate at the Big River (sorry no food porn) which was decent. HUGE portions. We were able to see some of Illuminations, & from the other end of the Boardwalk, I was guessing it had to be Wishes we were seeing.
It was so much fun to watch the kids play on the lawn at BWI. Too cute!
It made us miss DS, but that's ok, he'll be with us the next time we return!
After dinner we walked through the Disney shop there just to see what's new this year. I could have spent a small fortune on other people's kids! Such CUTE stuff! I'll post pics of that later, I promise!
Well, we're in for the night, I have a facial tomorrow & we have ressies at Via Napoli, so expect some food porn!
Night Disers!
