Here now - little to no COVID precautions

Yeah most likely that is true if they dont get tested till they get home.
I also think with contact tracing and all that we would hear more if it was an issue - and maybe we will
If a state had a ton of people contracting it after an Orlando trip Im sure it would be out there and Im sure there are plenty of anecdotal cases.

Anyway - Ill be bringing a few self tests with me to check every few days.
Ill bring my own hand sanitizer - I'm sure the stuff they provided was not great.
I won't be eating at buffets - I honestly cant believe they are back at Disney - but again personal responsivity.

All that said I may feel totally different when I am on the ground and experience it for myself - honestly I am more concerned about Uber and the flight than the parks
i don't think they do any contract tracing by practice in Florida or at the parks. Some businesses and schools may do it though. However, I don't think the local health authorities do it much, and they definitely are not encouraged to do so by the state government.

Well, since we are supposedly following the science, the CDC says that transmission by touching surfaces is very low, so what's wrong with buffets?

If you're worried about other people's gross habits, then that's no different than the "before times".

Im assuming if say you test positive in NYC and were just in Orlando and a ton of people do the same we might hear about it

but yeah Florida is not doing that - and I'm sure many other states are not as well

Totally true - I've seen horror stories at buffets long before covid.

Personally - at least as far as a buffets - Im going to make my own choice and avoid it regardless of the "science".

Since Delta is more contagious I wonder if that changes the "touching surfaces" current science for example.
This is all constantly changing so again - you do you - since I am not going to eat at buffets I dont need to worry about it - but it does surprise me.

What contact tracing? No one is doing that anymore. My husband tested positive a couple weeks ago. No one reached out to him at all. It was on him to contact the people he had been in close contact with over the previous 72 hours.

Yes, I agree. My state (Washington) currently has the strictest vaccine rules in the country, but even here there is no contact tracing going on anymore.

Yeah, I'm in CA. Nothing happening anymore here regarding contact tracing at the state or local level. My husband's (military) doctor reached out a few days after his command reported his positive test and she did do some military/unit specific contact tracing, but that was all just for internal record keeping purposes and to identify his close work contacts. My husband was diagnosed using an at home rapid test followed by a PCR at Walgreens, so if the state or county were doing contact tracing, he would have been called, I would imagine.

Yeah seems like it does depend on the state - my state was winding down and planning to end in September and now they are quadrupling the staff.

Buffets itself would have been the least of my concern while there last week. Indoor dining was my concern. Tough some buffets can be gross. Places indoors are packed, so keep that in mind. They do not set tables apart at all. It's the shared air that we avoided. I personally would have done an nice, clean buffett, if I could wear my N95 to get the food and the walk with my plate outdoors, seated 6 feet from the next table, but that is not happening. We ate only outdoors. We ate at Hogsmeade at the quick service ( broomsticks?) outdoors with a great view of Hogwarts! Inside was jammed packed but we were one of only three table outsdie. it wasnt too hot either.. nice breeze and outdoor fans.

The thread I referred to was I believe "to go or not to go"

Not sure why this thread got bumped but if anyone is looking for a more recent experience, I can count on one hand the number of families other than ours I saw wearing masks at UO/IOA last week. We had lanyards for ours and wore them during indoor lines or rides or in tight crowds, like during rope drop. We were able to dine outdoors at Antojitos, Mythos, Bice, Lombards, Toothsome, and Mels, but dined indoors at Leaky Cauldron and Confiscos. There was always plenty of hand sanitizer available after using the fingerprint scanner at the gates. Ultimately, going to a theme park is not going to be ideal right now for those concerned about catching Covid, but we took what precautions we could, and so far we have tested negative on home tests.

Unfortunately, a lot of people are now not wearing masks. If it makes you feel uncomfortable, I say wear one. I live with an immune compromised person so I wear one at the parks. And I still wear one when shopping. I also used to always get sick after visiting the theme parks until I masked up so I will continue to wear one.

Also it's always good to carry a travel size hand sanitizer with you
