So many folks warn against coming to WDW during busy times like Easter week and I just wanted to post some positive. Yesterday we enjoyed two of the best things about coming a holiday week.

First perk was 7 AM extra magic hours. We have done this the last three years so we had a plan. We got up early and got to the gates as the welcome show at MK was starting. Once in we did more that first hour with super low crowds and no waits. The fun continued for the next hour and then there were moderate waits...under 20. The only huge waits we saw were at the mine train. We did the following: Space Mountain, Buzz, Astro Orbiter, small World, Splash, Pirates, Under the Sea, and Big Thunder. Then we spent about 40 minutes on Tom Sawyer Island...my son's favorite place in all of WDW. Our pace was liesurly and we stopped for Dole Whips and popcorn. By 11:15 we took a vote...do some more or head back to YC to enjoy the pool. As the masses were coming in we left and enjoyed five hours of sunshine and fun at the resort.

Then to perk #2...the resort had a huge spring break party on the beach last night! The kids loved it. Games, free face painting, boat rides, s'mores, etc.

We headed to EPCOT and just ate around the world for dinner. Took in some live entertainment, rode the Mexico ride, then saw Illuminations. I volunteered to take our teen back to MK for EMH until 3 but when our alarm went off at 11:30 to get ready she decided sleep was better...maybe next time.

Perfect day. No one was overtired. Enjoying all the extra Eatr fun at the resort all day today!

Do not be afraid. Easter is manageable and a lot of fun.

So glad you are having fun! We are headed down Tuesday for Spring Break. Third year in a row for us too! We always enjoy early morning EMH and late EMH! We are so excited! Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip! :-)

Thanks for taking the time to report back- It's great hearing how a positive attitude and good planning can make enve the busiest times of year not only manageable, but fun! Enjoy the rest of your trip!

We love being at MK until 3 am; we just did that in December. There is just something special about it. I like early mornings, afternoon breaks, and late nights. And the weather this time of year is great, so the late nights in spring tend to be the perfect temperature.

How awesome is this......Wow, Who would've ever thought that this was even possible..Great news, Thanks for the info... Continue having a great time:thumbsup2

Yippeee!!! That's a lot of attractions done in one morning! Love it! So glad you're having a ball during such a busy week! :cool1:

Awesome! And I already saw some awesome pics this morning from the GF. They were getting ready for the easter egg hunt and CM's were making trails of candy on the ground in the shape of Cinderellas Carriage! This in itself looked awesome and fun!

Thank you for the report. I originally had our trip booked for this week (we would of actually left today), but got so nervous after reading all of the stories about how crowded it is during this time so we went in January instead. I am glad that the parks are doable and you all are having a blast. I think your plan of going at 7am rope drop then head back to the resort when the masses of crowds show up and then head back to the park for late magic hours is a wonderful idea. We love going to late EMH at MK, like a PP already mentioned, there is just something special about it there. Have a wonderful rest of your trip and Happy Easter :goodvibes.

That sounds wonderful! I'd love to be at the resorts for the Easter fun. My kids always have the Thursday before and the Monday after Easter scheduled off, but the last three years, they've lost those extra days because of snow cancellations. Maybe one of these years we'll get to do it.

Thanks for all the replies. We are stuck coming the busy first week of April because now that my kids are older we do not believe in taking them out of school. Plus I am a teacher and this is my week off. We have really learned how to make a Disney vacation relaxing. This year we had reservations all set up for a beach vacation to Fort Myers and in December I backed out because I could not I gained not having spring break in Disney.

There are seven years between our kids. This is the one place where that age difference is not so apparent and our kiddos connect. From holding hands in the park to sharing rides and the fun at the pool. They are closer on a Disney vacation than any other time of the year. I think a beach vacation would have made my teen want to just hang with her friends also there. Here it is just us and so wonderful. I am really grateful.

Today our resort the YC has all sorts of special Easter activities going on from candy scrambles, to character meets, egg hunts, and other activities. They do provide more on holidays than other times of the year. Families should not be scared of coming...but you do need a good plan. If we were morning to night park people with no breaks or people who insist on sleeping in every day, this would not be the ideal time to visit.

Sounds fun. We went the week after Easter a couple years ago and had a blast too. We have been at all different times of year and been able to manage pretty well. The only time that I am scared of is the week between Christmas and New Years.

We actually did the week before and week after Christmas and had a blast- it ranks as our very best Disney trip ever. The crowds were quite light right up until Christmas Eve so we got all the must do's in then and because we were staying 2 weeks, had plenty of time to get everything done we wanted. Christmas Eve and Day were crazy- but we took it easy, went to the least crowded parks and just went with the flow knowing we weren't going to get a lot done those days. I'd love to do it again!

So glad to hear a positive report from a peak time. We have done 2 trips over Xmas Week and most people think we're crazy. I absolutely love standing outside MK before 7am with all the other crazies! We just see what we can and then enjoy some relaxation. We've never stayed out til 3am...may have to think about that!

Well, I wouldn't really call your first point a "perk of Easter week". You needed to be at the park by 7 am to accomplish it. We can do the same thing in September without having to get to the park early. Just show up at normal park opening, 9 am.

Your second point is definitely a perk.:thumbsup2 You just won't see things like that during the very slow times.

Glad things are going so well for you!

Dan

Thank you for sharing this! We have never traveled over a break week, but with school age kids we are always going in summer- usually mid August before school starts. Although we have had less crowded times, the heat and humidity can become overwhelming. It is nice to know some of the perks of going during a more crowded spring break time. We have no problem being early risers, so I would consider this a huge perk that I never knew existed! I had no idea the EMH were so extended either.

I love the idea of Easter fun at the resorts too! Usually we are not big on the resort activities, but I think all my girls might enjoy them. I am envious of slower times of the year with both nice weather and lower crowds, but we won't pull our kids out of school so those times are not an option sadly.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing.

We usually avoid holiday periods. But your report tells me that some day, maybe just maybe we could pull it off.
