Yesterday on Flights of Passage i witnessed a family distract the Cm while others pretended to scan their bands and go through. When we got to the second scan they turned blue and told the CM “oh it just worked” and proceeded to distract the Cm while others went through with blue.

Tonight at Thunder Mountain a family cut the very long Fp+ line, then then the woman said “my husband has the cards” as they pushed through.

I shouldn’t care but It annoys me that a) i put in work to get these FP+ selections and obey the rules and b) you have people who couldn’t get FP+ selections waiting 150+ minutes.

The CMs need better training because I’ve seen multiple ones get games and played by guests either playing stupid or rushing through the Fp+ Touch system. I get that it’s crowded but still...

Yes, I've seen it too, and it stinks. But what exactly would you want the CMs to do? Some people are just like that and will go out of their way to "cheat".

My life because much happier when I stopped paying attention to what other people were doing – and then letting it affect me.

Also, out of the tens of thousands of people in a park at any given time, I wouldn't call two experiences a rampant problem.

Yeah, you’re right. Just a rant while I’m waiting in line, though.

We witnessed a few incidents of this too when we were there last week. In all cases the people were allowed through. It's frustrating for sure, and I completely understand your wanting to rant about it. :) It used to bother me a lot when I was younger...but I've learned that for me, I have to let it go because it's not worth spoiling my own mood by getting upset over it. Whenever I see this kind of stuff, either at Disney or in my regular life, I try and remind myself that I can't control others' actions, only my own...and I literally tell myself to make like Elsa and "let it go", lol.

I totally understand -- stuff like this bugs me, too! My sister and I are always saying stuff like "who raised these people?!". It doesn't ruin our day or anything close to it -- we move on pretty quickly -- but it is annoying to see.

If it helps any, we had to wait by the FP entrance to Splash while the CM was trying to help my DS with a lost sword issue. In the 15 mins we stood there, I couldn't believe how many people either didn't understand or were trying to game the FP system (your FP isn't valid until 8 pm, you don't have a valid FP, you just went through and used your valid FP, etc). All of them were turned away. This was in May though, so much less crowded. Maybe the CMs figure it's not worth the line hold up that would result this time of year. My SIL saw many people cut out of the regular line and cut into the FP line at Splash during Easter a few years ago (right after they stopped using the second scan). She mentioned it to someone who looked like a manager but nothing was done. So I guess how they deal with this sort of thing really depends. Sorry you have to deal with that behavior but like other said, best for your sanity to let it go.

i think i feel really bad though when I witness a cm trying to stop the individuals and they are mean, rude, obnoxious and abusive towards the cm's. It is very difficult to shake off when I witness that and I have. Just ignoring them or even worse behavior. I have family who are cm's and they are young and don't make a lot of money and love what they're doing and it makes me feel bad for them.

Karma will get them. Just go about your day. If they get caught they will get what is coming to them. They are risking their vacation to do something that is blatantly against the rules. If that's how they live their lives then let them.

We just got back and saw a bit of this; most of the time the CM's weren't buying it but a fair amount of people did get past, honestly I think they still need to use the 2nd touch point. We didn't let it bother us if people want to cheat that's on them and yes I felt for the CM's trying to do a good job.

Although I will say not everyone is cheating - we had issues with our FP+ on the 26th, its a shock when that ring turns blue and you know you have a FP! Don't rely on screenshots either, at least they didn't work for us we had to go to GR and try and fix things :(

The things I had to deal with as a College Program Cast Member amazed me! I literally kicked two young men off of the ride I worked for making a little girl bleed because they kept pressing the gas in their car causing it to bump the one in front. I went livid when I saw her blood, walked over to their car, got really close and said two words, "Get. Out." They looked at me like a deer in the headlights. I repeated myself again, a bit louder. "Get. Out. You've caused the little girl in the car in front of you to bleed, that's it. LEAVE this ride or I can have you out of the park altogether." Just a fact....no I couldn't have them thrown out of the park, their offense wasn't that great, but it got the job done. Two other boys were spitting on people from the bridge as they drove underneath. I asked other CMs to hold the cars and went and stood at the bridge looking up to them with no fear and said, "You want to spit, spit on me. Then when you do, understand I will be the last person you spit on...ever." I just eyed them and dared them to argue. "Get off that bridge. Now." They started not to move till me and one of the male CMs started walking that way......they left. This was during the Night of Joy..the boys who were spitting. I had already worked a 10 hour day and was exhausted. All my shift leaders told me I handled myself and those young teens VERY well. I was older...in my 30s....so it was just easier for me I guess. The first incident was during regular park hours and do you know I got applause from all the guests??!!! Applause! I hadn't realized how many were watching, I didn't care. This was long before I was a mother, but I was an aunt and seeing a bleeding child to no fault of their own always did me in. We got her cleaned up, sent her and the mom up to guest relations to be "checked out" and I gave them 3 paper fastpasses for any rides they chose while in Disney that didn't expire.

And today, while in line for popcorn at the movie theater I watched two sets of people try to "push" in front of me and my son. I just shook my head, pointed at my son to move up when the next cashier came open. There are just people in this world who feel entitled. When necessary, I deal with it. Today at the movie theater wasn't necessary. As a CM in Disney, I had to.

If a person is claiming that their band scanned green and the CM didn’t see it, then the CM can ask them to scan again. It will show blue on the scanner regardless, but the CM can check their screen for the FP info. This was apparently CM protocol at FOP in August, as a distracted CM called me back as I started to walk through the second touch point. I told her that I’d already scanned green, but she said that she didn’t see it, so she needed me to scan again.

That being said, it’s now the busiest time of the year, so I can understand CMs choosing to ignore brazen rule breakers in order to avoid arguments and keep the line moving. Even if it stinks for the rest of us who would never consider doing such a thing.

We saw allllll manner of shenanigans on our early December trip. While on line for Safari at AK some lady came barreling through the line on her phone, and shoulder checked me out of the way like she was taking the football to the winning touchdown at the Super Bowl. I regained my footing and watched her chug on up through the line and sang after her "You have a nice day now!" and started chuckling with DH. The couple behind us looked at me and marveled at my composure and said that I had handled myself better than they would have. I explained to them that it was fine since DH and I would continue to make fun of this woman for the rest of our trip (and beyond). Wherever she is, whoever she is, she would be the butt of repeated brutal mockery. That makes it sting less for us.

I don't know if I should admit this, but I LOVE your reasoning! I suppose because, my mind goes there too most times! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

CMs working those positions do it day in day out for months and are well aware of what's going on. They're not being gamed and don't need additional training.

We’ve been going to the parks each day since the 23rd. Lots of people are scanning blue and many CM ‘s are just waving them through. Honestly? They have to or those people just completely bung up the fp line. And yeah, I think some people are taking advantage of that this week. My beef is that sometimes there is only one Cm at the fp checkpoint. It must be so overwhelming for those CM’s.

I wish they could funnel the people who scan blue into a separate line so the people who scan green could get through.

I totally get your frustration. On our last trip in August, we went up to the SDD FP+ line and there were 5 scooters lined up in a row blocking the FP+ path. Another guest with that group was arguing with the CM manning the FP+ monitor. Meanwhile, 2 other people on scooters in their group had already started going into the line without FP+. The CM told them to get out of the line, but they just kept going. I think they knew no CM was going to physically stop them from proceeding through the line. At that point, no CM was paying attention to the FP+ line. My DS and I said "excuse me" to the first guest in the scooter, tapped our bands and proceeded through the line. As we were winding our way to the next tapstile, one of the men who had blasted through the line was sitting on his scooter smoking. Yes, smoking a cigarette in the SDD line. At that point, a maintenance CM who was walking by, saw him, told him to put it out and then simply walked away. When we got to the second tapstile, the guest in the scooter simply scooted through. At that point, I was pretty mad. The busting through the line without a FP+ irked me, but the smoking put me over the edge. I really couldn't believe DS11 and I had to walk through his smoke in a ride line. As I scanned my band at the second tapstile, I let the CM know the man had been smoking and didn't have a FP+. The CM asked him to scan his band again - it turned blue. CM tells him to get out of the line. Man proceeds to go through line, CM does nothing (notice the pattern?). At this point, I'm in front of the man on the scooter and get to the front of the FP+ line. The man is behind me and his friend (who busted through into the second SDD FP+ line) is in the line next to me. Man in scooter tells me to get out of the way so he can join his friend in the other line - meaning, he wants me and DS11 to move into the ride loading area before we are directed to do so by a CM. No go. He tells me, basically, if I don't move, he'll move me with his scooter. I tell him he will have a lawsuit if he does so and tell the ride CM what is happening. At that point, the rest of the group that had been arguing and blocking the FP+ line bust into the line. I hear one of them say, I told you if you argue and persist enough, they just let you through. Keep in mind, no one else except this group has entered the FP+ line at this point, meaning, they had been blocking all other guests with FP+ this entire time. A couple of people in this group are now berating me because the ride CM is questioning them being in this line. CM puts me and DS on the ride (there are only 5 people on our entire SDD ride because of all of the confusion). When we get off the ride, a CM approaches us, apologizes profusely (I told her it wasn't her fault), tells me management and security has been called and puts us right back on SDD. Looking back on it, honestly, I wish I had been able to let it go and keep my mouth shut, but I had worked SO hard to get those SDD FP+ (all the tips and tricks we hear - stay onsite, put DHS at the end of the trip, etc.), to have this group of 10 block the line for those who legitimately had passes and then bust through the line REALLY irked me.

I’m sure the way they’re handling it is part of their training. I know the last thing Disney wants is big confrontations between guests and CMs.

There’s a trade off that they’re choosing to make, though — this stuff is irritating to fellow guests who ARE following the rules. But I assume Disney knows that.
