Here now (1/2 - 1/4)

Why are the late hours worthless? Those are the shortest lines of the day.
worthless to us and our strategy - this time the extended night hours to 11pm and even the EMH to 1am definitely were not the shortest waits of the day, the early morning from 7-10am were by far the shortest waits. the hours from 10-2 weren't. We also noticed a lot of false times late at night on TP and on the disney app. For instance both said 35 minutes for jungle cruise around 10pm, and we were in line for over an hour (and during that hour the wait time never changed to reflect an issue or increased/unexpected wait time). Same thing happened on star tours another day, got in a 40 minute line and ended up hostage for almost 2 hours.

I picked midnight as that’s when the times started trending down. They were even shorter on all of these rides after that.

The vast majority of guests leave after the fireworks show, and even during the holidays the lines will get really short. That’s the one thing that you can count on year round.

you usually can, always have - this is my 4th trip in a 2 year time period, but for some reason on this trip, the crowds did not die down after the fireworks- especially on 1/3. Space mountain had over an hour wait at 1059pm, and it was legitimate.

I hear that 1/3 was incredibly busy. According to Touring Plans, the posted wait on Space Mountain was 40 minutes at 10:56 pm but it sounds like it was worse than that.

We last visited in early June, and found a 50 minute posted wait on Space at 11:25 pm but were able to ride 4 times before the park closed at 12. A little running was required to make it back the last time through, but that's the way I like to end a day.

We were in MK on 1/2 and kept waiting for the crowds to ease up after the fireworks but they didn’t. We experienced the same - getting in lines that ended up being longer than the posted wait times.

When Small World posts a wait of 25 minutes and the outdoor que is filled - that’s wishful thinking. We got out of line after 10 minutes and we had just made it under the awning.

doesn't stop me from wanting to go for another NYE trip though!

I was here 12/30-1/4.... my experience was similar to the above. First off - best weather I have had in Orlando this time of year - 80 degrees with a breeze most days and I would be happy in a rocking chair with a drink. Epcot, AK, and even HS all were normal busy this time of year - granted I used fast passes on the big rides that do not change much during the day. But we did MK on 1/3 and got there maybe 8:30am - so a little behind the wave. First ride was Peter Pan and it was 40 minutes. It was so bad even on the lower tier rides we left to Whispering Canyon for lunch and came back at night. We came back around 5pm and used fast passes and shows. People mover was over 20 minutes and the Carousel of Progress theater was maybe 60-70% full....never seen that before. The teens did get to ride some between 9:30-11pm. But was much crazier than I have seen. I like to people watch and christmas decorations - so still a great time.

was nice going on Splash Mountain w/ a 5 minute wait right after Holiday Wishes on 12/22. Jungle Cruise was 15 minutes but we had a fp for it anyway
