Here it is - Announcement re More FP+ Beginning 4/28

I have a feeling that the 4th rotating FP+ is going to be a "secret" much like the "return anytime after..." option on FP classic.

If Disney research found that the average guest only used 3 FPs ordinarily, then they won't really need extra FP+ anyway.

Plus I'm sure it will be spun as "unfair" and will give the theme park morality police something to continue to squall about. :rotfl:

Although legacy FP was not a secret. You could turn up at the FP machines and see what the current return time was before inserting your ticket. And at least there you knew what ride you were waiting for. With the kiosks, yes, I agree with you: Mystery is the name of the game. I'm just not sure I want to play it. I am not really a betting type and think I may stick with my 3 until I see anything that persuades me otherwise :goodvibes

Mystery is the name of the game for sure. You never know what you have available vs someone else. I don't like it! I do think they'll allow booking via the app as soon as they can get their system working correctly. I swear I read an article that one of the main dudes commented about being able to save some money b/c they didn't have to have as many kiosks as planned since folks were using the app.

Isn't this only a problem if you log on prior to your visit and see no availability/very limited availability for this or that in the general time frame you'd like?

I mean, A&E is likely to be one of those attractions fans will keep checking on, but we haven't seen many (any?) reports of most popular attractions being unavailable.

Secrets just aren't what they used to be these days.

I really hoped when BOG opened up to ADRs for the first time that it would be a closely guarded secret for at least an hour or so. Or at least until I made mine. ;) Then I saw that the Facebook page announcing the start date had over 30K likes. I knew I was in trouble then.

So I am going to assume there are a bunch of slackers touring the parks today. :rolleyes1

If anyone was wondering, I'm not in the park trying to book a fourth BUT I went in and acted as if I were going to book 3 for today for a party of 4 at about 200 and there was still availability for the mountains in MK,except splash, test track and maelstrom and illuminations in Epcot, the safari, ex. Everest in AK and, fantasmic, rock and roller coaster, and tower of terror in Hollywood studios as well as various lower priority rides.

As far as speculations on resort choice mattering, I am booked at the grand floridian for my trip in June. The linked tickets were cast member comp tickets. Or a 1 day Epcot/HS/ak only. I dunno which it would be pulling availability for. I didn't actually confirm booking but it was nice to see that things were sill there at this time.

With Summer just around the corner, 7DMT opening, and the continued issue with A&E, I'll be very surprised if we don't see some interesting anomalies popping up on who can see what and at what available times.

Like "I'm off-site and was able to get everything I wanted in the morning but the only time I can get 7DMT is at 7pm....."

Followed by "that's funny I'm going to be staying at BC on the same day and just booked 7DMT for 10am...."

wump wump wump wump (that's the sound of the black choppers) :rotfl2:

Seriously though, I won't be surprised if this actually occurs.

Why would Disney stay quiet about this though? If one goal is to get more people to stay onsite why wouldn't they make it clear that the FP+ offerings could be better for onsite visitors?

Unless of course this is being tested right now...

Plausible deniability... allows them to give extra perks to Deluxe guests while keeping the value and offsite guests in the dark so they're not ticked off about being treated as second class citizens.

yes, they indicated that the "bonus" FP+ can be for any attraction and not subject to tiering

Subject to availability of course. And what do you think the chances of scoring Soarin' for your 4th FP+ will be at 1pm or later? Especially given the fact that tiering exists in the first place because there are not enough to go around.

It would also be a problem if for example I went up to get my 4th FP but the only thing left for my off site family is Stitch while the onsite family behind me was able to get 7DMT. Thing is no one will ever know. I admit I'm pretty jaded but not just when it comes to Disney...just generally. All I'm saying is that with with FP- at least we all "saw" the same thing. If they want to give perks to onsite, I'm OK with that but just be upfront about it.

Not prior to arrival but there have been many reports, including my own first hand, that "day of" no availablity on the headliners. In my case, Soarin' and TT by 10 AM.

Report from Epcot:

"Mickey Adventures is here today testing out the new ability to select another FastPass after using your 3 that were scheduled. We scheduled all 3 for morning, and finished the 3rd around 11:30. We headed straight to a kiosk (you can't use the app for this unfortunately). The good news is that we were able to get a FastPass for Test Track! The bad news is that we couldn't get it until 5:20 since it's a somewhat crowded day. And there was nothing available for Soarin. Stay tuned to see if we can get another one after!"

If they do this (and aren't upfront about it), it would just be so dirty IMO. Ugh. I'd rather they just give a bonus FP to deluxe or whatever and be done with it.

Oh, it is. They didn't spend 1-2 billion just to hand out FP's in an egalitarian manner. And you're spot on about plausible deniability. It's one of the more elegant things they've set up with this.

Thanks for the link :) Do you know if that person is traveling solo or how big their party is?

ITA. Let us know what we're dealing with so we can plan accordingly.

I get your point now. Thanks.

I would just add that if staying onsite gets you a better deal with FP+, you'll hear it from Disney first. You won't have to slink about message boards looking for secrets.
