Here is a what would you do question. FINAL UPDATE page 2

Well bless your heart. IMO, the OP did the right thing by paying for the flight, plus she is paying for hotel and food. Even if the friend's parents are paying for part of the trip, she is welcome to call him her guest. Of course, we are all free to define that word how we choose.

Bless your heart too!

I am so glad your son's friend is getting to go; they will have such a good time!

I wonder why u would assume that since the deal is the kid's parents would cover his ticket. Even better if OP is able to get them additional savings. I think OP is already being very generous to pay for the plane tickets. Yes, it was the right thing to do since the OP changed the initial offer but still, the kid now gets a short flight and more fun time vs a long long time sitting in a car.
No the parents said they are definitely paying for his park ticket. I just saved them some money.

The OP keeps referring to this friend as her "guest". Otherwise, why not just refer to him as her son's friend who is joining them? She may be helping out with some costs but calling him a "guest" is a stretch in my opinion. Personally, if I'm paying for my own ticket, I'm no one's guest.
Doesn't Disney call us THEIR GUESTS but we pay for it all! lol I went back and edited just for you! He is going as our guest and we are paying for a lot. We have lots of good ADR's and we always do some of the extra for a fee fun activities. It's all good. We don't have to analyze every word. I just wanted to give the update.

Well, I admit, you got me there. Hope you have a fabulous time.

Ok just spoke with friend's mom. I offered to pay his airfare BUT she still wants to think about it a bit longer. She said she has to decide on whether she wants him to go with us for his first trip TO DISNEY or them. They have two younger kids in 6th and 3rd and she thinks it might be hard to let their oldest go without the younger two having never been. This was something I had in the back of my mind months ago when she said they needed to talk more about it. She said that's just a BIG vacation. I think she might feel guilty that other two are left out. SOOOOOO....now I wait.

The parents should realize that's their son is going off to college soon (possibly) and is technically an adult. Keeping him from experiencing life because of younger kids is not right. The parents should be THRILLED that you enjoy the son's company enough to invite him along on a graduation vacation.
