I'm now down to the budgeting stages for our next trip in '07. I posted a thread last week about AKL vs BC. I'm still going back and forth as to which one to book. I may end up doing what someone suggested, which is to do a split stay, but I'm having a hard time with the $100 per night cost difference between the 2 resorts. I have a feeling I'll end up booking AK for the entire 12 days. So tell me, will I love AKL after staying at BC? Has anyone stayed at both? How did you like each resort and if you had to choose, where would you stay again? Thanks for putting up with me guys!

For a 12 day stay, I'd definitely do a split. But I think I'd do 6 at AKL and 6 at BW. Try something totally new! If you loved BC, you will also love BW. AKL is just beautiful but the convenience of walking/boating into EPCOT and MGM just can't be beat. Either way, I'm sure you'll have a magical stay! ::yes::

Castillo Mom,

That's a difficult choice! I've stayed at both and they are so different that it would be quite difficult to compare. AKL is by bus only and only for that resort so the wait is not long. It is a remarable resort - they even have tours for guests.

BC - you've been there so you know EPCOT and MGM are handy.

I would suggest going to the photo section of this board (a link is on the lower right main page) and www.allearsnet.com - check out the facts page and slide show of each resort and see what you think. 12 days is a long time - would it be difficult to switch midway? The cost savings is substantial and well worth it...are you considering a Savannah view at AKL, Pool or standard? I've heard that some of the pool views on the 5th floor, looking over at the waterfall also have a bit of a animal view - sounded perfect! Think I might have read that on www.tripadvisor.com

I must say the BC is not my favorite rseort - the rooms are much smaller than the Poly & Cont and not much large than AKL. How many in the family? That could make a difference because not all AKL rooms have a daybed - Deluxe might, but I am not sure..that info would be on allearsnet.com for sure.

Good luck! Keep us posted!

Christine, it'll be 4 of us in the room, me and 3 DS. They'll be 13, 15 and 17 by then. They loved BC as did I, but my youngest was impressed by AKL for the "great atmosphere" in his words. We had breakfast at Boma so we got a chance to tour the resort. I guess AKL theming is a bit more over the top than BC. Both are beautiful for different reasons. I don't think a moving mid way through the vacation would be that hard. I'd plan on a standard room at AKL. It looks like I'm leaning more towards a split stay. I feel like BC would be home to us since it was the first WDW hotel we ever stayed at and because we had such a wonderful experience there.

We did visit the Poly when we had dinner at 'Ohana, but I didn't care for the hotel itself. We also got a peek at CR one morning when we had breakfast at Chef Mickey's and I didn't like the theme of the hotel. I'd consider the GF, but I don't think my boys will like it there. I didn't get a chance to see WL because we had to cancel our PS at Whispering Canyon, but I'm not sure "woodsy" is our style. I hadn't even considered BWI, so I may take a look at some pics on the web, but I thought the rates were the same there as BC.

Oh well. Technically I still have quite a while to make up my mind, except I'd like to make a final decision within the next month or two so that I can calculate a rough dollar amount in terms of budget.

I'm glad to hear good things about the BC. I just booked 10 nights there for June 05 and am a little nervous about it. I am getting two rooms for us because I have three grown children and I thought one room might be too small for the five of us for all that time. I originally wanted to stay at the Poly but I thought everyone would like SAB and being close to Epcot.

Hope you have a great time!

Linda

Linda, we all stayed in one room and there were five of us. It was slightly cramped but it was no big deal because we were hardly ever in the room for very long. As for the location, I knew we'd be close to Epcot, but I was surprised at the fact that it was practically in our "back yard" and was only about a 7 minute walk. Your kids are going to love SAB and I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay.

Castillo Mom

I know what you mean about the feeling of "coming home" to a favorite resort.

It sounds like a great idea to split because then your son gets to enjoy the AKL (we had a standard and were upgraded to a Savannah!).

What a great vacation! I envy you - mine are all gown up, but not married so no grandbabies yet..it's Disney with adult friends for awhile!!! :) :)

ps if you should get a discount code that will really help!

Beach Club is also our "home". We went to the AKL once 2 years ago and although we did have real good time watching the animals from the balcony and we are glad we went, we won't be returning. We really prefer the themeing and atmosphere at the Beach Club.

Oh Terry, I was afraid someone would say that! Hmmm, I'm going to have to check out the Budget board to see if there's a way I can swing the entire 12 days at the BC. If not, I'm going to do a split stay instead of only staying at AKL.::yes::
