Yuck! The change fees are really bad for most airlines. I looked into changing a United flight and it's more than the ticket. Southwest is what we usually fly and they don't have change fees so I guess I got used to that.
I was shocked by the price...I mean, I knew that change fees were a thing, but I've never had to consider them before, so it was surprising to see how much it was. Plus the cost difference of the new ticket. It is so expensive to fly out of our local airport if you fly anything other than Allegiant (which doesn't fly into MCO, so no Magical Express). We fly Delta b/c we have their rewards card and like the perks, and our options are limited for airlines here. I could drive to Kansas City, St. Louis, Memphis, Tulsa or a few other cities, but then it's kind of like, what's the point if I then have to pay for a hotel, gas, food on the road, etc...But KC might become the best option in the future - and Southwest flies out of there!
I'm sorry you weren't able to change your dates around!
The ears are so pretty!
Your first day plans sound great! I have faith you will be able to cram as much in as possible!
One time, I had a ton of stuff to shove into our recycling bin. I had to get a chair and climb inside and stomp it down. That's what I'm going to do with my trip - climb in and stomp all the things down until they fit, LOL!
Can I just say, every time I scroll past your PTR my brain starts singing and I've caught myself randomly singing Whitesnake while working in the kitchen all week? lol!
I LOVE THOSE EARS!! Especially the mermaidy ones <3 Violet lemonade is my favorite, it's definitely my must-do for our Epcot day, even if I have to break away to do it (I'm hoping that the idea that my friend floated back in January about drinking around the world is still a thing because I want to go to as many booths as possible lol)
I sing the song too! Some days I regret the title, LOL!!
I was surprised how much I loved the mermaid ears. They were kind of a whim add on, but I love them so much. I couldn't believe how sparkly they were.
I think I might keep a running tally for how much violet lemonade I end up drinking. If you see a news report of a woman found lying next to the World Showcase Lagoon passed out and stained purple...well...
LOVE the ears! So cute!
Plans sound good especially the food booths. I wish we had had more time to visit some of them during our trip in March, but I'm definitely looking forward to returning in May to try the ones I missed. That frozen lemonade with blackberry moonshine sounds delicious! We never made it that far around the World Showcase when we were there.
I've never flown Allegiant but they are pretty cheap and I've been tempted to try them. I'll be interested to read if you end up doing that but it doesn't sound likely. I'm with you and wouldn't change my flights for that. I just made a change to our May flights, but since it was SWA there was no change fee and the cost to change 5 tickets was less than $200 for me so a no-brainer to get an extra 14 hours or so in Florida AND to not have to be at the airport at 4:30am!!
The food booths are really exciting to me this year! We didn't really do any while on our December trip, and I regretted it, so having this larger scale selection with so many fun things is making me
I was talking with a friend yesterday who flew Allegiant on their March trip, and she said it was nice because it was a direct flight (which is so tempting, I was so sad Delta stopped non-stops to Orlando from any of our localish airports!) and the drive to Disney World is basically just getting on the road and driving in a straight line. It is definitely a less expensive option from here, but the travel dates are limited b/c they only fly on certain days and sometimes the flight times are inconvenient. I figure we'll try it at some point, because I really do like flying out of our home airport, and at this point, we don't really NEED the Magical Express, it's just such a nice perk and really gets the trip off to a very Disney start!
I was really shocked at the cost...I guess I shouldn't have been, but I'd never paid much attention to it before, because it wasn't ever an issue. I'm excited you got such a good deal on switching your flights - more time in Disney is always better!!
Your trip planning looks AMAZING! And I LOVE your ears, sooooo cute!
Thank you!! I was so excited when those ears arrived. I can't wait to wear them in the parks!!
Sorry you couldn't make the switch happen. You sound like this week will be crazy for you. That is a lot of school events.
I am not a Soarin' fan either. We did check out the new one at Calif. Adventure also. I don't have the Epcot on my list of attractions, but maybe. I doubt we will ride it though. We will be there for Food & Wine for the very first time, so I will be making lists of things we want to try. I am looking forward to that.
Good luck with getting down there for the Pandora AP preview.
It was disappointing, but I have so many things I want to do on my original dates, that the pro/con list was pretty even. But still...I really want to see the Pandora preview, so I haven't stopped sulking quite yet.
The school stuff...I just feel like everything always ends up scheduled at once, so instead of something here and there, allllll of the things are crammed into one week. It makes it so stressful. I am ready for Sunday already!!
I'm looking forward to Food and Wine, too! Flower and Garden food booths are like my training session, LOL!!
So much food, so little time! This is how I always seem to feel about Disney, but Epcot events make it so much more of an issue! Go big or go home!
I'm sorry about your date change issue.

It would have worked so nicely if not for those flights! I hope you manage to somehow get down for the AP preview anyway, but I'm sure it'll be hectic. We've flown Allegiant before (they have a direct flight out of Maine that's not an unmanageable drive for us.) We always had good experiences with them, but flying in to Sanford is a bit of a hassle...and you miss out on all those Magical Express vibes, of course!
I LOVE your ears! I just got my new pair in from a different Etsy shop...but then I noticed that tomorrow night is Be Ear Guest's next opening...and I've got my eye on one or two of her pairs now...hmmm...we'll see...
Yes! Go big or go home, that's how I feel too.
The direct flight part of Allegiant is realllllly appealing to me. Landing in Sanford is not ideal because I love the ME and don't want to rent a car, but I figure at some point it's just going to be too good of an option to avoid for much longer...the cost alone would make Disney trips even more attainable, lol. Priorities!
If you go for Be Ear Guest tonight, good luck!! I set an alarm for about 5 minutes before shop opening, keep refreshing the page, and then click buy it now instead of add to cart. I firmly believe that was the key to getting them successfully. I have my payment info saved to Etsy so I don't have to type anything in. The last time I tried to get ears from them, I put them in my cart and even though it was less than a minute, I missed out. It was crazy.
Boo Delta! I was hoping that would work out for you. I'm loving the f&g food list. A solo trip during f&g would be a dream for me. I live with picky eaters & they're always crushing my food dreams.
The flight situation made me so sad, but I'm still excited about my dates...but I feel like Pandora is just out of reach, and I keep trying to grab it, and it just slips away. *sigh* I'm sorry the picky eaters are crushing your food dreams!! That's what happened to me in December when I switched my Candlelight package to Rose and Crown from San Angel. I knew they wouldn't find anything to eat there that would make the cost worth it. They like Mexican food, but not "fancy" Mexican food, which is what they called the San Angel menu, LOL!
Woo following along! I've never read a PTR before. I recently finished your December TR, stumbled across this gem and went "hey she looks familiar". So here I am
I'm so excited for your solo trip! DH and I have said we will go on a "honeymoon" for a wedding anniversary somewhere in the distant future. Until then, I will dream through everyone else's solo/anniversary trips.
I'm so happy you're here!!
I think having a "honeymoon" anniversary trip is a GREAT idea! My DH and I want to do that too. DH is getting kind of jealous of my solo trip, and keeps talking about a trip for just the two of us...He's missing WDW, which is so funny to me, since before our first family trip down there in 2014, he was not all that into going. Now he loves it because it is so "easy". Easy for him because I do all the planning, LOL!!
