So we got here yesterday, and I'm never leaving!
Some pre-trip info - DH and I left home Thursday morning at 6am to drive to Bristol, TN for Nascar weekend. We both had bad coughs and sore throats, and were able to get some antibiotics from the dr. before leaving. DH got better and I got worse. Soooo, spent Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday suffering in a tent in the Tennessee mountains. :confused3 I was able to crawl out of the tent on Sunday to sit and get sunstroke at the Bristol race track and try not to throw up while DH enjoyed the race and I prayed for it to be over! (And I usually love a good race!). Back to the tent to die at 6pm, managed to pack everything and sleep from 8pm to midnight. Then up we got, down came the tent, and off to WDW we went:cool1: (me still feeling like something you rub off the bottom of your shoe!). By 1pm we were at SSR, checking into our beautiful studio here on the 4th floor of the Springs looking over the fountain. (Insert deep contented sigh here!). Even though I felt horrible, I'm at WDW - best medicine ever!:cloud9:

Sounds as though you deserve a relaxing stay. Hope everything is magical!!! Keep us informed.

My family is headed for the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee over Easter weekend, but I wish I was going to FL to enjoy the warm weather. I know what you mean about WDW being the best medicine-there is just something about being at Disney that ALWAYS makes me breath a huge sigh of relief. I hope you have a relaxing and wonderful vacation:flower3:

Everything feels and is better when you are at WDW. Enjoy and have fun!!!

Thanks everyone! After a nice long shower yesterday afternoon, and a yummy dinner from the Earl of Sandwich, DH and I read our books on the patio. After a nice call from my three teenagers at home (house and dog still in one piece!), we got a good night's sleep on a comfy, real bed for a change (and oh, was it nice to use a real bathroom instead of freezing in a port-a-pottie!:goodvibes).
This morning I was still coughing, but boy was my mood better! It was supposed to be cloudy all day, but when we opened the drapes at 8 am, not a cloud in sight! Nice, breezy day, almost 80 degrees today. DH went and worked out at his favourite fitness center here at SSR at 10 am, and I actually smiled all the way to the Guest Laundry to freshen up a few things (even laundry at WDW is fun!). Back to my studio to relax with a cup of tea and my book while listening to Radio Disney on the tv for an hour. DH came back for lunch, which we enjoyed on the patio (leftovers from Earl of Sandwich last night). Then he went over to the Carousel pool while I watched my soap opera (All My Children) and finished my book. I was going to check out the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot, but still not feeling 100%, and quite happy to relax here.
For dinner, we walked over to DTD, shopped a bit, then brought back some Wolfgang Puck Express to enjoy on the patio. (Can you tell we love our patio???). Watched a big white swan swimming by the fountain while we ate. Now we are going to go over to the preview center (we're practically across the street from it) to check out the Bay Lake Towers rooms.
I'll catch up later! Hopefully doing a couple of parks tomorrow - I want to see how the crowds are!
Thanks again for all your well wishes. I think my doctor should write me a note that I need to live here to stay healthy!:rolleyes1

It's nice to hear that you enjoy your patio as much as we do:love:. One of our favorite things to do is sit outside (no matter how hot), enjoy the view and relax with a beverage.

Enjoy:flower3:

now that's the way to do disney:thumbsup2

glad to hear you're feeling better, & hope to hear more of those great moments that make WDW (& SSR, it's a gorgeous resort) special!

Yep, nothing like a good dose of DVC to put you on the road to recovery.

We're very happy SSR owners but I made BWV ressies for August because my DH loves Epcot and DHS, thinking we might need to add - on. But he's already complaining that he'll miss SSR. It's so nice to hear that our "home" has such "healing" vibes. ;)

Sounds like your SSR vacation is off to a great start! We had a fourth floor studio overlooking the fountain a couple of weeks ago, loved it. It is fun to watch the swan, the otters and the turtles.

Have a great time!!

Hello again all - thanks for all your get well wishes! Still have my stupid, nagging cough, but managed to almost bounce out of bed this morning at 9am to be greeted with another healthy dose of Florida sunshine through my patio doors!:lovestruc
We just lazed around this morning enjoying our tea on the patio and reading our books. After a nice, relaxing shower, I straightened up the room and did some ironing (how come mundane chores are so much more enjoyable here at SSR???). DH went to spend his daily couple of hours at the fitness center around 11 am, and I decided to head out to Epcot to check out the Flower and Garden Festival. Not a cloud in the sky and breezy and warm today (about 75-78 degrees). I waited about 15 minutes for a bus (the usual here it seems), and it's only five minutes to Epcot. Forgive me for complaining here a bit, but why is it when you stay in the nice, DVC resorts, they still manage to drop you off at stop 15 when SSR's stop is 4???? This really irks me - shouldn't it be a perk to stay in one of the higher-end resorts to get dropped off closer since you're going to spend so much time walking any how???? Okay, vent over - thanks!:headache:
So, Epcot seemed busy to me until I got to World Showcase, then everyone seemed a little more spread out. The sunshine felt wonderful, so I just strolled slowly around and took pictures of all the beautiful topiaries around the park. I was only there an hour when my cough came back full force, so rather than sputter and gag all over passers by anymore, I headed back to the bus by 12:30 to go back for more medicine and some lunch at our studio. I got lots of pictures though - will try to upload a couple for your viewing pleasure!
Just been lazing around reading on the patio since lunch. DH is snoring away having a nap right now. We'll probably head to DTD for some dinner, or maybe just to the Turf Club here for a yummy burger. I know he wants to go mini putting today or tomorrow - I'm sure he'll be able to beat me since I'll probably cough my way over par every time.:sad2:
Working on photos!

Thanks so much for the live report, its fabulous!! I hope you are feeling better. Heres a wierd trick that really works for a bad cold to sleep better ( get vicks vapo rub smear it on the soles of your feet put on a sock) . Don't know why but it really works. How is the renovations at the main pool going?? Any chance they'll be done soon?? We arrive 4/1 and I'm hoping it will be done before we arrive. Have a magical time!! Beautiful photos. Love the Mickey gnome ::MickeyMo

Oooo! I must know too - how much for the gnome? I'll be there in a couple of weeks, I must have one!!

The gnomes were $35 I'm pretty sure. The main pool here at SSR is supposed to be done April 1, there are a lot of people still working on it every day. Should be done - doesn't look any different that I can see through the screens, just freshened up.
Glad you all like the photos. The floral displays at Epcot are beautiful.
It's EMH at AK tonight until 9 - hoping to go ride EE, but we might just go mini putting or catch a movie. Slow and steady wins the race (and makes sick Tracey feel better!)
