Here at Hilton head resort now .. Any questions ?

Wow it was hot today, sun was very strong. We kayaked this morning saw a lot of wildlife! Dolphins ( a mom and a small baby) saw an eagle ( we were told it was a juvenile bald eagle) some small sharks, stingrays and many birds. It was unbelievable even our guide was surprised at what we saw:) he said it made his job a whole lot easier than having to talk about oysters for an hour and a half
Went to old town bluffton to the farmers market then to the Lodge for dinner. The lodge is next door to One hot Mammas. It was ok but I would not go again. We ate at Frankie Bones last night, always have a great meal there!
Only a couple more days here then we must go back to reality
I wish I could post pictures but I do not belong to a photo sharing site, I don't think you can attach photos , if you can I haven't figured out how:confused3

We will be there June 1-8 in a 1 bedroom. I am hoping for the main lodge. We stayed there last time and loved it. I would really like dinner recommendations - just the 2 of us "empty nesters"! We love good seafood (not fried) and Italian food.

Good seafood, from 2 other "empty nesters", who also get 1 BRs in the Main Lodge-Kenny Bs, Black Marlin, Skull Creek Boathouse all for seafood. Salty Dog isn't the best food, but it's a tradition for us and has nice views. We haven't been to Hudson's on the Docks in many years, but we enjoyed it, and it gets good reviews these days. We keep meaning to try Old Oyster Factory because we hear good things about it and it's always busy, but we haven't gotten "round tuit". Sea Shack is another tradition-VERY casual. As far as Italian food, my stomach doesn't agree with it, but I hear good things about teh Italian restaurant on Main Street.

Could you tell us what the rental fees are for beach items like chairs, umbrellas, etc.? Thanks!

We are going to be there in 2 weeks! Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do or see besides bike riding, beach, pool and golfing? We will be there for 5 days. Also, does any of these resaurants you all suggested require a reservation or dress code?:stitch2:

You might take a look at http://photopost.wdwinfo.com/ . Once you have uploaded your photos, you can link to them in a post by using
commands with the link in between - or - you can provide a link using [url = link to your photos] description [/ url] (without the space between url and = and the link or between / and url). There are also directions about posting images available on our Technical Support Forum right here on the DIS. - http://disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=4886029#post4886029

We are at HH right now in a condo right across from the DVC Resort. I can see buildings 19, 21, 25 and 28 looking out our living room window as I type this.

Enjoy the rest of your stay! :)

There won't be a dress code and any of these restaurants. Casual is the word-of-the-day - everyday at HH.

Reservations are a a good idea if you are wanting to dine between 7 - 9 pm. Otherwise you may have a wait. Some of the restaurants have early-bird specials. The resort usually provides a local dining "magazine" with details about a number of popular local places. There are about 300 restaurants on the island (all within a 15 minute drive of the resort), so there will be something for every taste.

Did they switch out the horrible furniture (living room sofa and chair) that is impossible to sit on or is it still there. That stuff makes it impossible to relax in that room! And are the rockers still on the porch?

Thanks

Are the washers regular or HE? We are heading down for our first trip to HHI in 2 weeks!

Yes! The new couches are very comfortable!

We stayed in a studio this week so didn't have a washer in our unit and didn't bother with laundry. If you call the front desk they should be able to tell you for sure.

New couch is good but the new chair is even BETTER!! Became everyone's favorite! It's also a pull-out bed. The chair is like a mini-couch.

Sadly we have checked out and are on our way home : (

Washer and dryers are HE
A set of 2 chairs and umbrella were around 32$ for one day and I believe 20$ each consecutive day after that

Funny thing, they have dole whips at the beach house , but they are NOT allowed to call it that, They have to call it a pineapple soft serve :confused3
Maybe some type of licensing agreement? Not sure

Thanks for all the info. This is a great thread. We'll be heading down in July. I'm so glad to hear about the "pineapple soft serve." Sad to hear about the picnic table :crowded: Do they still have the rocking chairs? If anyone has some pics, please post. Thnx!

I know what you mean about the first floor, the people above us I think may have twelve children ! Or it sounds like they do!

And yesterday the pool bar was not open?? Maybe it's i
Only open on the weekends?

My family loved Scotty's fish market, my DH had the mahi mahi and my dad had scallops. I however had the fried chicken ( very good) I do not eat sea food :)

Weather is wonderful spent the entire day at the beach yesterday :lovestruc

We were at the beach house all that day too. The outside beach bar was open weekends only but we were told that once Memorial Day hits it will be open daily. You could get drinks inside at the snack bar still.

We ate at San Miguels in Shelter Cove at the recommendation of the shuttle bus driver. Mexican food..very good and reasonable prices. Plus the 10 % discount for people at the Disney resort.

DH and I ate at Kingfishers. Not as good as last time we were there according to DH...he had fish and chips. I had pasta with grilled chicken and alfredo sauce which was very good. BUT I do not think it was worth the price, if you know what I mean. I finished the entire thing and I don't think I've ever finished a pasta dish anywhere because there is usually too much.

We also ate at Guiseppi's (hopefully spelled right) but we just had pizza and I had a calzone which was good.

The kids ate at the Italian place in Shelter Cove whose name escapes me right now...they said it was good.

Last night there we ate at the Hilton Head Diner....really huge menu and good food. We got dessert to go since everything looked so good (and tasted good too)

We did not do any resort activities since they seemed geared more to kids and my "kids" are in their 20's. We did a day trip to Savannah, a day at Salty Dog and Harbour Town and then just hung out pool side and at the beach. We did a sunset dolphin cruise from Shelter Cove (Captain Mark's cruise) We saw a lot of dolphin and saw a spectacular sunset.

My DH and I also enjoyed a movie under the stars. We saw Frozen and got a chuckle out of all the little kids singing along.

Arrived yesterday afternoon! I loved the old "lodge" style, but I do think that the lighter feel is nice. Bikes are supposed to be delivered to day. Planning on the beach and then the pool party tonight for Memorial Day!!
