Gee, that was a quick reply!
You won't believe how nervous I am about our first family trip to DLP. The pressure is all on me as my husband is only coming along because he has too! I have tried to research as much as possible, but since coming across this website, things are getting much easier to plan. I have so much questions and would love to speak to someone who has been, who knows what it feels like to be in my situation, visiting for the first time, I want to make it a memorable visit, basically a stress free enjoyable trip! I have been buying Disney outfits for my girls to take (this way I don't have to buy there) is this a sensible thing to do? What would you recommend to pack in our suitcase apart from the obvious clothes? Would you recommend packing tons of their favourite foods? What do you recommend taking into the Parks? Tips on items to take to cut down on the buying? I have been buying items ready to take, Disney items to pack and give to the girls as gifts when we arrive there so they have something to look forward to everyday. i.e. character clothes, Disney suitcases, bags, accessories and Minnie mouse toys!
What do you reckon, am I wasting my time? I don’t mind buying there, just being the first time I have to watch our spending money because I’ve been told I will be shocked of the prices there! I have booked the Wild West show; do the children dress up as cowboys?
I know these questions are mad, but I don't want to get there and wished that I had took more or planned more!

Thanks

Lol, you sound like me a couple of weeks ago lol! I will indeed believe how nervous you are, I am so nervous of crowds that I have never even managed to go on holiday with my youngest before this, and I hate flying so I was doubly nervous lol.

Would you prefer to email me direct? I am happy to help where I can and give you all the advice I can while it is still fresh on my mind. Why don't you PM me and give me your email address and I will contact you direct.

The only thing I can't help with is Buffalo Bill, we didn't do that becuase I thought it would be a waste of money food wise. I am really glad we didn't do it because I think we enjoyed other things more. However, other people love it so I guess it is all horses for course (literally lol!!)

Anyway, PM me if you like :goodvibes

Forgot to say, I wouldn't worry too much about buying Disney stuff beforehand, it is everywhere and doesn't seem too different from the Uk prices in the Disney store AFAIK.

:goodvibes

Good idea to buy the dresses before you go! They are usually more expensive at DLP, and they may not be ones you like anyway. Having said that you probably won't need to take all your Disney gifts with you. Maybe just take a few of them with you, and buy a few while you're there. The prices aren't that shocking if you shop around!

Don't pack tons of their favourite food - maybe just a little!! There is lots of variety available at DLP, so I'm sure they will find something they like.

I don't think many children dress up as cowboys to go to Buffalo Bills. You all get a cowboy hat when you get there anyway :thumbsup2

Lastly - don't worry!!! Try not to overplan and just by reading this board over the next few weeks you'll pick up lots of tips to help with your trip. And, whatever happens, I'm pretty certain that your DH will end enjoying his trip to DLP ;)

The costumes at the Disney store are much nicer than the ones at DLRP, so i always buy for my DD before we go however most of the Disney stuff at DLRP is around the same price as the Disney store in the Uk. For example something that cost 15euros at DLRP will cost £8 in the UK which I think is around the same amount. It will be fun from them to pick some them out themself that will remind them of there trip.

The children can dress up, but don't have to. We were there in 2002 and the girls (age 8 and 10 at the time) had their faces painted (native american indian style) and you all get a cowboy hat to wear.

We had pretty low expectations of the show, we just didn't think it would be our cup of tea particularly, but wanted to give it a go. We absolutely loved it and everyone said it was the best night of the holiday so we've booked to do it again when we're back in July. I know some people on here have said they weren't impressed with the food, but we all loved it.

Thanks for the tips, but I'm having trouble understanding PM, when you said that I could PM you, How do I do that? I would love to receive direct e-mails from you I still have a few questions.

Do you know if it is possible to get a free DVD of DLP from anywhere or links to show movie clips for my children to see (when the time comes to tell them) I remember receiving one years ago through the post but put it straight in the bin (had no use for it at the time)

We know zero French; will this cause a problem during our stay? Is everything in English (at the airport too?)? Is there plenty of English speaking staff at DLP & hotel?

How about giving tips in restaurants is it like the UK?

My girls are 4 & 6 years, which rides would you recommend we head for first? Are their certain rides that we should race too as soon as we arrive?
I know everyone has his or her own preferences, I have a small idea of the rides for youngsters but wondered which have the largest queues and would make sense doing first? :confused3

To PM someone just click on their user name and then on the second line in the dropdown menu that appears. :)

There is no need to speak French at DLRP although we find if you just use the basics like Bonjour, Merci and Au Revoir it is much appreciated. :goodvibes Can't help with the airport, I'm afraid.

How about giving tips in restaurants is it like the UK?
Tipping is just like in the UK, we tend to tip between 10 and 15%.
