Hercules was a wonderful production, and I loved it. As many posters have said before, Pain/Panic/Hades really made the show. Unfortunetly, we had a child in one of the front rows who decided to "make fun" of Hades during his monolouge, and it cut a good bit out of it. During the joke about Hades asking what do you get when you cross a skunk with a bear, a child shouted out "YOU!" Of course, everyone thought this was funny, and it just encouraged the child to yell that out after every joke, and make a few other comments.

Also, there were a few teenagers playing with those odd light toys (like Buzz Lightyear or Winnie the Pooh with the lights on top that spin around) all during the show, and Hades yelled at them twice to stop. There were quite a few disrespectful cruisers who kept taking flash photography.

My question is, is it wrong of cast members to ask a guest to leave the theater if they can't behave? Has anyone ever seen this done before? Just curious. Since DCL is fairly strict about keeping things in a smooth running order, I wonder if anything is usually done about this.

How terrible! I know that sometimes kids can act up but if mine ever did that they would be corrected and if they continued would be out of that theater as quickly as I could carry them out the door. You would think that if the CM was making direct comments about their actions they would have stopped or their parents would have done something.

I think that kid was on our cruise also. We found the shows to be highly irritating, there were so many exhausted irritated kids, not to mention the ones that have no discipline and were throwing tantrums throughout all the shows. We enjoyed Hercules after moving 3 times to find a quiet area in the theater. We left early from Golden Mickeys, it was PACKED, and the lady in front of me decided she'd bounce her crying infant on her lap throughout the show so I barely saw any of it.

I realize that this is Disney, kids are there, but at what point should the kids be allowed to disrupt the shows that are going on? People were also taking pictures during the shows we saw too. Tacky, very tacky. Someone did say something to one lady who gave attitude back.

I never had a problem with the kids--it was always with the adults. They kept telling me to behave...LOL

The show was brilliant, and it was my second favorite of the three this weekend. It was just a shame that these performers put in so much time and effort, only to have their performance interrupted by disrespectful people. While it was a little amusing the first time the kid yelled at Hades, I think it cut his monolouge terribly short. I admire the performers for giving it their best! :)

I thought I read a report by Barb and Tony that said that Hades' monologue had been permanently shortened. I love the theater and have seen tons of shows from community theater to broadway and you'd be amazed at how much "stuff" happens that could potentially distract an actor while on stage. All of them that I've ever seen have been able to ignore it and go on with the show as if it hadn' t happened... in most cases you would think they hadn't even noticed the distraction. My guess is that performers on DCL are probably used to this and although rude, it would not really adversely affect their performance. If they can perform while the ship is rocking, they can ignore an enthusiastic child :)

For us, it was Hercules, Golden Mickeys, Disney Dreams.

One REALLY cool thing was we were picked to do a survery for Golden Mickeys and Disney Dreams. In return, we were given a $50 shipboard credit for each show. Very nifty! :)

Yes, sadly Hades' monologue is very much shortened from what it used to be originally. To see it shortened even more because of someone being rude would be a big dissapointment. Sometimes we have seen CMs telling people who are videotaping or taking flash photos to stop (and I've also seen people argue with them about it...talk about tacky!). Unfortunately, enforcement seems to be the exception rather than the rule. I wish that it would be enforced at all of the shows all of the time, as it is not fair for a handful of people to cause a disturbance to the majority who are playing by the rules. When hubby takes photos, he never uses the flash. He uses the night setting on our camera, and if he didn't have that setting, he wouldn't take photos at all.
As for the kid shouting, I don't know what a crew member could do about it. That's basically a case of an obnoxious kid and a brain-dead parent, although I suppose they could be asked to refrain it was was causing a disturbance in the show. I saw something similar at Bingo once where a kid yelled out a comment that got a few laughs, so of course she did the same thing literally every time a number was called. The mother thought it was soooo cute, but everyone else was about ready to throttle her.
Personally, if someone was blocking my view by bouncing their baby, I would ask them to stop myself. I don't feel that I should have to put up with someone interfering with my enjoyment of the show, and if they are close enough, I'm not shy about telling them. Maybe they don't realize that they are annoying others around them (or, if they do, they will generally stop when put on the spot).
The funny thing is, out of 34 cruises, I would say that the vast majority of disturbances I've seen have been caused by adults (mostly the flash photo thing). Even when the kids are bouncing around like maniacs before the show, they typically settle down and get totally engrossed when it begins.

hmm, I might get flammed for this, but alas...

I remember on a past cruise my friend and I were in the Buena Vista Theater and My Big Fat Greek Wedding was playing.. there was this kid about three rows back being completely obnoxious. He was probably 10-12 years old, so clearly past the age of knowing how to behave in a public theater. He was talking very loudly, and shouting out comments about the film. Worst thing about it was he was sitting with his family--including his parents!! This went on for at least 10 minutes, and they did nothing!! Well I got so fed up with it, I stormed up the stairs and told that kid he had two options 1) to shut up and act his age or 2) he could keep it up long enough until I personally made sure he was removed from the theater.

I am not one to but into other family affairs normally, but he was shouting loud enough you could hear it from anywhere in the theater. Add in the fact that he was old enough to KNOW not to do that, and his parents there sitting and doing nothing!! I was so ticked! I just couldn't restrain!

You wonder how some people can have kids??
