a man revered as well as controversial. i honestly did not realize he was still living-100 years old when he passed today.

I didn't know he was still alive either. In many ways, he changed the world.
RIP Henry Kissinger.

He existed within the periphery of my political mind as I waited for his thoughts on current events. Maybe he just got tired of seeing the reactions and counter actions of humankind. 🤷🏾‍♂️

His ilk won’t be seen again in my lifetime. Let’s hope that another will inspire future generations. Certainly didn’t agree with some of his works and policies but he made it a delight to understand how his mind worked. Rest well, you deserve it.

Apparently he was a big Disneyland fan... even working as a Cast Member serving popcorn and getting stuck on the Matterhorn!

I was surprised a few years back when I found out he was alive. I thought I remembered him passing prior to that.

If you read the article it explains their point of view.
Yes, I did - but lots of people in power in the US have been part of massive invasions, bombings, etc. Why so much vitriol for him, and no one here even mentions it? "A lifetime of negotiation", Dan Murphy stated.

OK.
It's their article, their POV. I'm sure there are other folks with other views.

They should have hired him to develop a Cambodia pavilion on the World Showcase at Epcot. Bourdain could have run the restaurant there.

I knew he was still alive because I know a woman who has worked with him for 50 years. He was 100, had a good life, and I have no sadness on his death. Much more sadness on the death of Shane MacGowan.

Not sure why you expect people here to mention it? He was reviled because of his involvement in the escalation of the Viet Nam war. Two members of the Nobel committee resigned when he was given the peace prize. He had good accomplishments, people are complicated with good and bad things associated with them.
