Do they have Henna Tattoos any where in Disney World or Downtown Disney? My daughters would love to get one of a Disney character.

When I was there a couple years ago, we did them in Morrocco at a shop beside the performance stage. Don't know if she is still ther though, didn't look this trip. Also not sure if she does Disney characters- my boys got dragons as I recall.

Blessings :)

Yes she is still there. We went in May and I thought about doing it again, but didn't see anything I really wanted to have done.

This woman was different than the one I had a henna tattoo done by in November.

I am going to plan on getting one in October when I go.

can someone please explain what they do when you get a Henna Tattato ? its it like markers -NOT needles and How long would they last Thanks Michelle

Hi Michelle,

When you get a henna tattoo they draw the picture you want on a piece of tissue paper. Then they place it on your body where you want it and hold it there for a little while. The marker from the paper is now on your body and they take the henna paint and trace it. You have to leave it on for about 45 mins. to an hour then you can wash it off and the tattoo lasts for about 2- 3 weeks. Hope this answers your questions.

Henna tatoos are made with Henna which is a dye. The lady that did ours used like a plastic bag like applicator. (she did ours free hand, no tracing) It is wet when it goes on (I thought it tickled) and then dries to a crusty texture. After it completely dries you can remove the crust and then your tatoo remains. I've heard they can last anywhere from a week to 2 months. I've had mine on my ankle since June 9 and it still looks great. My daughter and I protected ours from chlorine in the pools with AD ointment which she had brought with her to protect her fairly new real tatoo.

They don't do Disney characters, but the lady had a book you could look at of designs and will do them most places. Mydaughter got a sunburst in the middle of the top part of her back. I'm not sure how often the people change, but last year when we went the lady would only do them on your hands, feet, or ankles. This year anywhere was fine.

Beware the weather when you go, if its raining and you get it wet before the crust dries it will smear. The lady did offer to redo if it smeared and she also has a heater to speed up the drying process.

Let me know if you have other questions although I'm not an expert.

(One I got in Epcot a few years ago)

This is when the paste is fresh. It dries, flakes off, and leaves behind the stain, which lasts a week or two, depending on your body chemistry.

Wow thanks are they very expensive . I am always looking for some neat things for my kids to do while in disney ( so far we have hair cut and Gel w/ Sparkles for my DS at the Main street Barber shop and my DD will get cornrows before we leave -- normally gets a hair wrap )

Polyprincess, do you recall how much they run? Also, do they have other colors? I've been fantasizing about getting a real tatoo but I don't think it's a good idea for me in the long run. Henna would be perfect and I'm sure my teenage son would love one for himself!

Mine around my ankle cost $15, so did my daughters sunburst on her back. I think they run from about $15 to maybe $45 for a hand or foot. They only come in the one color.

The prices did range from about $15 to over $45, depending on the size and intricacy of the design. I got one on my hand, and found that because I was using lotion on my hands it didn't last as long as it probably could have. (My temp tattoo of tinkerbell lasted longer on my ankle).

The lady that did mine also did it freehand. She had you come back after about 30 minutes to put lemon juice on it. They recommend you leave the paste on as long as possible, but once it has dried and then it starts to flake off, that is fine.

If I do one again, it will probably be on my ankle. The lady that did mine had some very pretty designs.

WDW Poly Princess - that one is pretty.

Castillo Mom, henna is only one color. If you look online, they advertise a very black color, but the black can damage your skin. The brown is the natural and more commonly used color. It can be very pretty. WDW Poly Princess's sample looks black because it still has the paste on it. Once the paste comes off, it is a lot lighter brown color, almost rust color. WDW would not let their henna artists use something that is damaging to someone.

Nobody mentioned the vegetable or olive oil. The henna tattoo
artist told me that I should let the paste flake off naturally
overnight, then peel off any remaining henna paste.

Then she told me to apply some vegetable or olive oil to make
the color darken on my skin. I was staying at AKL, and I was
able to get some olive oil in the morning, before Boma opened.
They gave me a bowl and some paper towels to blot the oil
on my skin. I can't imagine where they expect people to get
vegetable oil. LOL!

I made the mistake of going into the AKL gift shop afterwards, without going back to rinse off my arm. According to one cast member, she said I smelled like sauerkraut! Eww!

And the henna artist also warned that the tattoo can fade with sunscreen and chlorine from the swimming pools. Mine lasted about 2 weeks.

BriarRosie, Thanks for mentioning the vegetable oil. I'll have to make sure I take a little in some type of container when I go in Oct.

I think the henna designs are so pretty. It's like having a tattoo with out the pain or the hassle and if you get tired of it, you know it will eventually fade away. LOL.

The artistry without the hassle.
