Helping with kid christmas ideas

For the 12YO girl, clothes for our Disney trip (she wants to theme dress) , a pair of old school headphones (Invader Zim) plus some stocking stuffers (fun socks, perfume).
For the 15YO boy, a video game & a framed Beatles album (hes a HUGE fan) plus again, stocking stuffers (toothbrush, Sudoku book). I bought the album at a used bookstore & the frame was 40% off so its a great deal.

I love this thread!!!! I feel like this year there is going to be less under the tree, but the cost is more. I'm tired of spending money on things they won't play with after a day or two... this year I know these are the things they really want and will use.

That's all so far. Their main gift is a trip to Disney and tickets to MVMCP and Candlelight Professional.

Here is what we have so far:

DS8: Kindle Fire HD, Super Mario 2 for 3DS, and honestly not sure what else. I know DM is giving him a $100 Amazon card and Mother-in-law am electric scooter. We will probably do some movies, etc....

DD3: Leappad 2 and a couple games, Little People Disney Princess Castle, dress-up clothes, unicorn Dreamlight, and those silly slippers you see on TV. She is also getting Singing/Storytelling Belle and an easy bake oven from DM and the Ariel vanity/beauty shop from Mother-in-law

We also got a couple board games for the family to play together

DD4 is getting 2 games for her Leappad (found in Kmart clearance) $13 each, Barbie cruise boat and camper, Barbie Ballerina, Doc Mc Stuffins and Lambie, Dc Mc Stuffins Dr bag, 4 Lalaloopsy minis, a vtech laptop, Lalaloopsy Sew cute patient, Lalaloopsy roller coaster and the Dora and Me playhouse (got it on sale :cool1:) and car. She really wants the Butterscotch pony, tells me everyday, hugs the box and talks to the pony everytime we go into Kmart or Toysrus :rolleyes2, BUT, it's $99.99, so, Im still debating wether to buy it or not. I have a feeling if Santa doesn't bring it, Im going to have a sad little girl on Christmas morning. So, I have a $10 gift card from Walmart that will most likely be used to bring Butterscotch home ;)

She also wanted the Cinderella castle for the mini dolls, but, Santa got her the big Princess castle last year and the princess (big and small) are hanging out there, so, it's not like they would enjoy smaller and tighter accomodations :rotfl:

DD is an only child and we don't have neighbors who she can play with, so, we do spoil her a bit for Christmas. She plays with everything, even with the toys that we got for her when she was one, so, at least, I know she will be playing with whatever Santa brings.

I'm the aunt but:
16 yo boy I tunes gift card, A pez dispenzer
12 yo girl i tunes GC, makeup pallet
11 yo girl I tunes GC, mkeup pallet
8 yo Boy NO CLUE
4 yo Boy Avwengers figures/car set, pez dizpenser

Would butterscotch jr help? I thought I saw jr size at walmart, think it was 20 ish. Also I'd suggest checking sam's club or costco as I have seen there in past.

DD4 (turns 5 in Jan)- is getting, clothes, ugg boots, north face jacket, and a new gap coat. Also, an iPod touch- 5th gen, barbies, a new car, scooter, merida's bow n arrow set, Barbie laptop, coloring stuff, DVDs, NABI 2, wii game, not sure what else- and Marie-Grace American girl doll

DD11 months (turns 1 in Jan)- is getting clothes, ugg boots, north face jacket, and a new gap coat. Also, the princess little people castles and princesses, a baby doll, puppy thing she can eventually push, Disney train thing, Minnie mouse plush, not sure what else

HTH to give some ideas

DD is getting: Merida dress, brave bow & arrow set, three Melissa and Doug art sets (jewelry box, stencil and stamps), Brave movie, sun catcher set, Just Dance Disney for Wii, Sketchers twinkle toes shoes, Sketchers twinkle toes slippers, a necklace (although I may give it to her after her Christmas play), Monster High Doll, ornament, Junie B Jones books, 3 outfits, PJs, and she'll get Squinkies sets from her brothers on Christmas Eve. I also got the Marie-Grace American Girl Doll deal today but I don't know if she will get that for Christmas or her birthday.

DSSs - Special edition XBox game, ornament, and cash. They are with us on Christmas Eve so they get cash instead of the gifts they get when they are with us for Christmas morning.

DS 5 is getting Wii games, and some movies. I might let DH talk me into geting him a new ipod touch (he has my old original generation touch). But his birthday is January so that might be for his birthday instead.

DS 1.5 is getting Cars (or cars) anything with wheels! Also a mickey mouse clubhouse play set and some little people playsets that I got at a consignment shop.

A joint gift fo them will be the ImagiNext Cars 2 playset.

Little DS birthday is Feb so he will be getting a ride-on battery operated car from the whole family.

I have WAY too many toys in my house!

This is really funny because I ended up with NONE of these items (except the little people that I already had).
Sadly the Ipod touch broke right after I wrote this so we ended up getting a new one now (refurb 4th gen) because it really was an accident (the baby knocked it off the table).

My DH got my 5yr old a new snare drum as his big gift. He also will get Wii games and movies.

The baby ended up with cars and Toy Story sets. I also got one of the 'kid friendly' cases for the Ipod Touch so he can begin to play with it.

Oh-and the battery operated car-the Grandparents decided that would be a joint Xmas gift from 'santa' and the big thing is sitting in my basement now!

What honestly has me shocked are the number of people buying Kindle Fires or iPod Touches for 4 and 5 year olds. Whatever happened to letting kids be kids and not sitting in front of a screen all the time? Get real books rather than eBooks, get board games rather than apps... real footballs rather than a game.
Suffice it to say I am so happy that my youngest is 21 and we don't have to deal with any of this.
PS: we all stopped exchanging gifts 3 years ago, less stress and our time together is more important than trying to find something they may or may not want just for the sake of having something to open.

DD17: Vera Bradley duffle, Burton snowboarding pants, clothes from Hollister and AE, Aerie bras/undies, fUgg boots, stuff for her room (jewelry holder, pillow), iPhone accessories, a movie, North Face fleece, Greys Anatomy Season 8, gloves, infinity scarf, car stuff, Xmas PJs, stocking stuffers. We also got her a car, but that's not really for Christmas - we're just giving it to her early with a big bow on top. :)

DD9: AG doll, bed and outfit (Marie-Grace deal), Monster High set, movies, tablet, clothes, socks & underwear, Wii game, LaLaLoopsy, Disney toddler doll (the Designer one), gloves, Google Play gift card, hair stuff, Xmas PJs, stocking stuffers

DS3: ImagiNext BatCave, Batmobile, Toy Story potato heads, matchbox cars, Cars cars, Look & Find books, superhero t-shirts, socks & underwear, coloring books, Batman mask, toy tool kit, Wolverine toy set, bath towel, movies, Xmas PJs, stocking stuffers

Got everything on sale, with coupons, on FB Yard Sales or free and stayed in budget! :santa: Kids are definitely done!

Getting an iPod touch or a kindle fire does not mean kids play with those all the time and don't play outside. That's a little judgmental. I got my almost 5 year old an iPod touch. She also plays outside all the time and has board games as well. We can afford to give her this item and I don't think it is unusual gift to give her. I'm a stay at home mom and spend lots of quality time with her, while others work all the time and want their kids to play outside. We do things together

HA! NOT!

The UGG boots are $50. And I didn't mean a real car- get serious! I meant a little Barbie convertible! Really?!

Okay, momma of 2 little girls here has found nothing but a bunch of little boys on her list :confused3. I need ideas for a 3.5 y/o boy, a 4.5 y/o boy, and a 7 y/o boy. Problem is, I am trying to stay around $10 each but not have it be totally lame.

For the 7 year old boy -- Lego minifigures or small sets, boy squinkies (got my 8 year old a set for his birthday and he LOOOOOVVVEED them), trashies (like squinkies, but more gross), baseball or football cards, Monopoly set (if you can find one on sale), Angry Birds stuff.
