Shirley... Did Lisa make it safely to the ship???

Hi shirley - I just sent you an email - I am so, so, so excited to be getting one of your baskets for our cruise next week. I can't believe it is already here!

We are flying in the day before the cruise and staying at the Residence Inn in CC. We will not have a vehilce. There are 18 of us, but we may split up for dinner. What would you all suggest? Is there a good delivery service? Should we get a taxi somewhere? We are staying there on a Friday night.

Shirley... Did Lisa make it safely to the ship???

The incident happened WHILE she was cruising with her family but she didn't notice anything until they started looking for stuff and had used her keyless way to get into the car to only realize, the entry was made through the driver's side of the door - she and the family were very upset so that is why when she called me, I met them there since they had to return here from Orlando - there were a total of at least 5 cars that had been broken into - the worse part, she forgot to take my phone number and had to contact someone else to go into the helpful information thread to get mine and Norm's phone number - I do know that Joe P the GM did contact and told me that they were making every effort to find the person or persons who did it and I know that they did receive a full refund for their night there - this area has gotten a little out of sort since the NASA is retiring their shuttles which means too this area will really struggle with the economy on top of it - everywhere I go, I see places closed down and wondering and praying I can keep the shop going - This is why I keep preaching to not leave anything valuable in cars if possible - all the hotels have been on the hit list. Everyone did try to keep Lisa and her family balanced and our local pawn shop is closed until Thursday, but I do have a copy of the list and will be there when the doors open at 9AM to see if anything has come in - never hurts and not a bother - I sure wish stuff would straighten up so folks wouldn't do such devilish stuff -
She will be home Saturday, I believe, so maybe you can drop her a line or two.

Anyhow that is it for today - have a great week and I will make sure Lisa knows you asked about her.
As always
Shirley

You know there is a number of places around RI for you have Kelsey's pizza, Subway sandwich shop, Zackery's Family restaurant, Thai Thai sushi etc accross the street and if you don't want to do any of them, speak to Sarah or Brandy there at the RI and they will give you all the help you will need - they are super girls always willing to help their guest - as for deliveries - its mainly pizza's etc - my top choice there is Calzoni's and they are at the beginning of this informatiom thread - They have everything you might want such as dinners etc
Hope I was able to help if only a little

Hi Shirley
I'm hoping to pick your brain! Is there a store in town that has lots of inexpensive sea shells? Probably pretty touristy, you know the kind? I appreciate your help. Have a great day.

Actually..along these lines...Do you know of any that sell sharks teeth?! My son is doing a project at school and thought it would be cool to bring them back for the class. I'm not sure we will have enough time to comb the beach for them. Not even sure if they have them in your area - maybe just Gulf Coast? Thanks for your insight!!!!!

And I will be calling soon to order our goodies for the EBTA!!

Sorry I didn't back to you sooner than this - the best place to find seashells and sharks teeth is several places and both are located in cocoa Beach on the corner of Minuteman Causeway and A1A - I know one is called Ann-Lia at 38 South Atlantic Avenue (this is on the beachside) and the other one is catty-corner from Ann-lia - both have a nice selection of shells and sharks tooth - another place is the Dinosaur shop
Hope that this will help

MARCH 19, 2010 UPDATE
I wanted to take this time to share a few things with you - first and foremost, PLEASE PLEASE be aware of the very strict speed limit coming from hway 528 on to Astrounaut Blvd on to A1A (all of the mentioned name is highway 528 AKA A1A) - there are policemen in unmarked cars, motorcycles, etc waiting for those that break the speed limit AND seat belt violations plus drinking, texting - you name it - please play safe if only for your families sake ok? Remember the speed goes from 55 to 45 to 35 and then back to 45.

Now to the good part - starting April 2 through May 1st, there is going to be a huge sand sculpture contest going on a huge empty lot between the Radisson and Zackery's Restaurant - the whole area has been fenced off to protect all the art work and the fee is reasonable, but the talent is going to be breathtaking - there is already a sample sitting in front of Ron Jon's - I know you could enjoy seeing this art work if you have time.

Second - the Manatee park behind the Radisson will be showing family movies every Friday starting at about 6PM - you can ask any of the hotels you may be staying at for more information - it is another form of entertainment if you feel you would be interested.

THIRD AND MOST IMPORTANT - WE ARE GETTING WARMER AND WARMER WEATHER.
OMG since December 28th, we have broke all records for cold weather and we are finally able to see green shoots emerging from what we thought were dead plants and trees. Now you will be able to go home with a real and beautiful suntan and a huge smile

That is all for now but as I learn more will post ok
ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello! My aunt and uncle used to live in Cocoa Beach. When we would visit we would go to the flea market. I was 6 at the time, so I don't remember much of it but do you have any suggestions of one near Cocoa Beach?

Hello Mandy,
Sorry I didn't see this sooner - anyhow there are no flea markets any longer here in Cocoa Beach for they have been gone for more years than not - the only ones left are in Cocoa and Melbourne - the one in Cocoa is called the Fronteau Flea Market and its on US 1 about 15 miles or so from Cocoa Beach - it has been allowed to get run down and just not like it use to be - the nicer on is located in Melbourne right on Hwy 95 about 1/2 hour from Cocoa Beach.

Something I wanted to share with cruisers that I found very interesting -
Instead of sending postcards to your family how about trying this interesting project and it would be so interesting especially for the kids etc.

Send a personalized greeting home using mementos from your vacation.
such as circle the places you have visited on your travel maps, write a note about yur adventures, then cut and fold the map into a rectangle and seal with glue or tape - this way your family and friends can visualize where you have been and the surrounding areas.

also you can hop into a photo booth with your travel companions, then write a message on the back of the strip and then your family and friends can either clip it to the fridge or reuse as a bookmarker.

also you can get pennies/coins from different countries, get them pressed to go with your maps that you send home.

Just a thought - I thought it was a great idea and wanted to share it with you.
Hugsssssss

Shirley,
My family is going on a cruise Labor Day Weekend. We are coming in to the area Saturday and staying at CI/S. There will be 12-15 of us. Where would you recommend for dinner Saturday night that's not too expensive? This will be a wedding cruise for us.
Thanks.
