Hello everybody,
Just wanted to pass some information on to those sailing within these dates and may want to join the fiesta - Our Savior's Catholic Church is having their annual fair starting on October 15 through the 18th and then the port is having their huge street party starting October 24th - you can go to www.portcanaveral.com for the information.
Both are a lot of fun
ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OH most important, we have broken the heat record since 1947 with the temp being in the high 80's and 90's BUT it will ALL change as of next week - hate to see the cooler weather coming in, but can't escape it :-))

Nevermind, I missed the Sunday part. *slaps head* I was searching for a UPS drop and ship on the way to MCO too. Let me see if I still have info.

On Friday, I had a call from a cruiser that had just broke her back tooth on her way here to Port Canaveral and was in distress as to what she could do about the broken tooth on a Friday and getting in late since she called me from Ga on or about lunch time.
Anyhow I found a dentist that turned out to be quite the gentleman and turns out he also does dental work for the crew members off the cruise ships especially DCL.
His name is Dr. David Boers, DDS and his webstite site is www.davidboers.com
Anyhow Tammy called me Saturday morning to tell me that her experience was just over the top as far as experience, patience, inexpensive etc.
She left with a new tooth, no pain and could go on her cruise without having any concern so I have added Dr. Boers as the emergency dentist since after calling a number of others here, they didn't have any real interest and Dr. Boers did not hesitate at all.
This is just a heads up for anyone needing help.
As always
Shirley

Shirley, that Dentist info is PRICELESS! You ROCK!

I was stunned when the cruiser that used him told me all that he did for her AND the cost was even more unbelievable - Tammy said he charged her $359.00 which included office visit, x-rays, numming, fixing another tooth, replacing it, the old tooth had more damaged than expected and extra work had to be done on and on and on AND he was very laid back, kind etc.
Wish I could use him for something but I know I am switching Norm to him.
I called over 8 dentist and none would see Tammy and this doctor's word said "no problem" on a Friday (with a holiday on Monday), late in the afternoon and other clients there. Now tell me if he doesn't "rock":woohoo:
Its good to know that he is around if any cruisers need him.

Shirley and it is always my pleasure to help

Just when I feel like throwing in the towel and giving up, God says NOPE NOT YET SHIRLEYand so today, something unexpected and wonderful happened with one phone call. Channel 2 WESH of Orlando, fla, called the shop this afternoon requesting an interview as the shop is so involved with deliveries and stuff to and at the port - needless to say I had come home since I am still stuggling with the aftermaths of what happened to me but Sherry and Melody handled it... perfectly. It is due to be on Channel 8 at 10PM and Channel 2 at 11PM tonight - don't know if I will be up so decided to record it. Pretty neat huh???
I am so proud of what so many of you have done to make things happen for the shop and I just wanted to say THANKS TO EACH AND ALL OF YOU.
Much love always
Shirley and Norm

Good morning - well looks like we are going to hit a all record high this weekend with the temp going into the 80's and up - I am so glad cause I sure do NOT do cold weather well ;-))
Have a great day

Hi Shirley,

We are trying to decide on a seafood restaurant to eat at the night before our Thanksgiving Wonder cruise. (We are staying at the Radisson.) I read on page 1 that you said Florida Seafood is excellent, but you also said Rusty's is great. We can't decide! Any further info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ok the both restaurants are as different as night and day.
Florida Seafood is a sit down, cloth napkins etc (but still casual) - they have numberous fish tank and you could sit there for hours looking at them - the food is great and they have a nice bar selection (me I drink either a cold beer or ice tea and most of the time it is ice tea) - you can not look out and see anything except rows of people talking and enjoying themselves.

At Rusty's you go casual, sit at a regurlar table and can sit there and watch the ships coming in, the birds fighting over food - it is just a different atmosphere. You don't have a fancy menu nor cloth napkins but I like the mood of relaxation there.

We have tried Milligans but the food is very expensive, no refills on coffee, sodas, teas etc and also due to the ceiling being sooooooo high, the noice seems to excel even more. At Fishlips I was disappointed for to have salad or bread with your meals it is a extra charge and for the cost of the dinners, I feel those should be included. Norm and I have tried them all and again these are our own feelings. We love Red Lobster simply b/c we can get the lobsters we grew up on.

Now I have given you my thoughts and feelings but again realize everyone likes different atmospheres, etc. Share with me on what you decide.
Always
Me

Thanks for the info, Shirley.

We'll be overnight at the Radisson and dining on Tuesday 11/24 as the Thansgiving Wonder cruise departs on Wednesday 11/25. I had considered Rusty's, Fishlips or Grills for the location but we'll probably be eating after it gets dark and no cruise ships to watch on a Tuesday. Then, I heard Florida Seafood was really good so now I'm considering going there. I'll let you know what happens! :)

Ask to be seated close to the fish tanks for I was AMAZED at some of the sea creatures that were in hiding and ventured out if only for a moment.
ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wanted to tell everyone to have a VERY BLESSED Thanksgiving Day - Thank you for always being there during all the trials and tribulation - May blessings always be with you and yours

Hi Shirley,

Just wanted to thank you for all your help and advice. We returned yesterday from a WONDERful cruise.

With your help, we had finally decided on staying for our 1 night prior to the cruise at the Radisson. It was perfect! Very clean, was a great location, and it met all of our expectations. Everything seemed new to me or maybe had just been re-done. We did not eat at the hotel as we just ate breakfast across the street at the McDonalds (we walked a very short walk to the light and walked across the street.) We drove to the port and left the car at the port.

We decided to eat at Fishlips and I am so glad we did. We had the snow crab dinner and it was delish! We watched a Royal Caribbean ship sail away.

And on the day we sailed, (day before Thanksgivng), people were at the port waving goodbye to us. Someone on shore yelled "Happy Thanksgiving!" I thought that was so nice of them! Then people on the ship yelled the same thing back to the people on shore.

On our day at sea (11-27) on the Wonder, the Magic was supposed to be in Castaway Cay. They could not dock at Castaway Cay because they said the winds were too strong. (Didn't seem too windy to us.) Soooooo, the Wonder and Magic caught up with each other and we sailed along side each other for about an hour! There was a battle of the horns at sea! It was fantastic. Someone from the Magic took this video and posted it on youtube! So now we have a pic of ourselves on the Wonder. Take a look - turn on your sound!

P.S. Our day at Castaway Cay was the very next day and it was calm and a great day!!
