Helpful Information For You Updated 03/30/2012

Both of these places are great fun and have great food. In my opinion, Fishlips is a little more of a "party" place than Rusty's. But they both have great food. If we can't get into one because of a wait, we will go to the other without fear.

I, myself, hesitate about Fishlips simply b/c of the few times I have been there, the service has not been up to par and also the fact that salad, breads etc do not come with the meals and are extra if you want them.
They do have a great view of the channel and ships coming in, but I will still stick with either Grills or Rusty's - With Milligans's I feel that refills should not be an extra charge and the acoustic creates a lot of noise that makes talking kinda hard, but they do have a beautiful place and scenery of the channel again these are my own thoughts and feelings

Here is a new adventure that is going to be great for both adults and kids - the best thing it is FREE - it is located EXACTLY one and 1/2 miles NORTHEAST of where you turn to go to the cruise ships - It is thisclose to the Air Force Base -

CAPE CANAVERAL — A new museum devoted to preserving the history of the nation's space program will open this week just outside the gates of Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

The U.S. Air Force Space & Missile History Center is in the auditorium of the old Space Florida building next to Gate 1, also known as the South Gate, at the air base.

An offshoot of the Air Force Space & Missile Museum, which is located in a secure area of the base, the new museum will be free and open to the public six days a week.

On display at the museum: an exhibit that tells the story of each launch pad at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, which was established in 1949 as the nation's Joint Long Range Proving Ground.

"It's a start. It's a foothold outside the gate," said Jim Banke, secretary of the board of directors at the Air Force Space & Missile Museum Foundation. "It's a way to tell the story of the Cape."

The foundation operates a museum located at Complex 26, the launch site for Explorer 1, America's first orbiting satellite and the nation's response to the Russian launch of Sputnik. Nearby is Complex 5/6, the site where Alan Shepard blasted off on a Mercury-Redstone rocket and became the first American to fly in space.

The on-base museum is open to the public through a bus tour at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex or a monthly Air Force tour that requires reservations. Banke said the new museum aims to serve a broader portion of the public.

"This has the potential to be a major tourist attraction," Banke said.

An invitation-only dedication ceremony will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. today Friday. The museum will open to the general public Saturday.

ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Free cruise parking with an overnight stay

I'm looking to book a room for the night before our October cruise, but when I look at the Radisson at the Port rates, the rates which state they include cruise parking are higher than room only rates. I'm confused as to how this is "free"? If I book a regular room, would we still receive the free parking and transportation to the port?

Thanks so much!
PJ

Hello PJ - here is what Joe P the GM with the Radisson wrote me

Hello Shirley,
Hope all is well with you and the family.

Now to answer the cruiser's question, the rates that are “Cruise Packages” include breakfast for 2 people – that is why they are higher than the standard rates

Hope this helps

Joe

Thanks Shirley! So, room only does include the parking and shuttle. Got it!

Thank you so much for this wonderful list!!
My family took our second disney cruise this past August. Thanks to your list, we used Spaceport Transport to pick us up from the airport hotel and take us to the port. They were wonderful!! They provide a mini van instead of a towncar for a family of 4. I found it much better.
Anyway, thanks for the list!

Thank you so much for all your hard work.

Shirley... You're the best!!! :grouphug:

Question...

Does your shop carry pointsettias at Xmas and will they let you deliver them to the ship?

Thank you so much for all your hard work.

Thanks so much sumeto - yes it is an extreme amount of work but I really don't mind for it gives everyone an insight as to what to do, where to go, where to stay, what to see and most of all people's names, phone numbers and emails that could help in case of questions I can not answer or comments etc.

Thanks again
much love always

Hello Tink - yep we will have the poinsettas and yes they will let us deliver them to the ship, but they will not let you take them off - have you thought about a small artifical tree that is decorated, we send fresh Christmas greens and you can take the tree home? Guess I hate to see what I see each year and that is the throwing away of these beautiful plants - I have them growing in the back of my yard at the shop and it is awesome.
anyhow just let me know what you decide and thanks for taking the time to write

Thanks Shirley!!!

We're thinking of booking one of the Christmas cruises and Mom wants a pointsettia... We understand they won't let us take it off the ship, but we can enjoy it while sailing...

What kind of trees or greens do you offer? I was thinking of bringing a small artificial tree with some lights and small Mickey ornaments but we haven't decided yet... But we're traveling from NY and the less I have to pack, the better I think!!!

I'll let you know what we decide!!!

Hi Shirley~

Just a quick thanks!! I finally got around to calling to order the card survival kits for post cruise! Still wish that you could deliver to Spain!!!

I was very impressed that the (extreemly nice and helpful) person that took our call had the email that I had sent to you! She had it all sorted out in minutes and we are now set!

This was such a relief as I called Hertz on Friday and I was told I couldn't send a box to them (dvd and movies). So, having the kits delivered to them is such a huge relief!!! I am no longer worried about the drive home to Atlanta!

I will post pictures when we get back, but wanted to thank you for taking such great care of us!!!

HUGS!!!
Sue

PLEASE LISTEN TO ME!!!!!!!

As of this morning and being out and about as I usually am everyday, You have to know that the police cars are out in full force - YOU MUST OBEY THE SPEED LIMIT OR YOU ARE GOING TO BE STOPPED AND FINED - THERE ARE NO WARNINGS.
This morning over 10 cars were stopped within a short distance of each other.

Now when you see the port and the ships, go over the overpass, the speed limit drops from 55 miles to 45 miles in the blink of an eye - start slowing down way before that so you won't be caught speeding ok.

Now consider yourself warned :thumbsup2

OK that is all I had to say ;-)

Hello Sue,
Now in defense of the rental office's - they are so overwhelmed already and then to take on the reponsibility of someone's parcels, they are lucky they have room for their cars much less renter's properties - they could get lost, taken, ruined etc so I am assuming that you are mailing them here to the shop right?
that was Melody who you spoke to and my right arm :thumbsup2

thanks for taking the time to write and do keep us all posted
