Helpful Information For You Updated 03/30/2012

not sure if it's been mentioned or changed but Canadian's are now required to have a passport for both air and driving.

the change was completed as of January 2008 for air and Jan 2009 for crossing the boarder on land (and my guess as well as entering via a ship if crossing the atlantic)

well...it's must be something..in the water? * i lived in cocoa beach

for 2 years, but...the 2 ladies i mentioned lived there. :thumbsup2 ,

...there isn't...enough...a great words i can use to describe how
special..they were. :goodvibes ..& how much they are missed.

...lil'things can be so important in a child life. it makes me think of
those..comm. on tv..like the dad practicing cheerleading with his
daughter, :cheer2:

truth being,..it's my wife, that..is the real ....angel, spilling pixiedust:
everywhere she goes. me?....i have to really work..hard, just to get the
50 % club. however, @ the melbourne skating house, i did do
something..nice , once. ....i noticed...the group of giggling girls..
teasing one of their friends.....[ one of them, had made a comment
about me & the gang.....were giving her the "devil" ]. sooo
i waited..til the last skate...which is always..a couple skate...
to put on my best prince charming ..& "asked her". why that
memory stuck...we came around the first circle..she stuck..her
tongue..out @ her friends. so sweet. how long ago?..let's say..
she would be..in her 40's....today.

now,i have a lil' princess: ..& she almost the same age....when this
happened.

in life, is there anything....more special..then sharing....the lil'things

..that makes us happy? i bet all those kids....remember those moments

you gave. probably more than you think. :flower3:

* just 2 years, with some special people can lead..to a life~time
of happiness...& will always be a part..of my ways of thinking.

What launch are you asking about specifically?

You can follow launch dates from Cape Canaveral here:

http://spaceflightnow.com/tracking/index.html

And find info for viewing each kind on my guide:

http://www.launchphotography.com/Launch_Viewing_Information.html

There is a Delta 2 rocket launch coming up the evening of March 5 (Delta 2 is really the best to go see after the shuttle) and an Atlas 5 on March 9 (not quite as cool as Delta 2, as you cannot get as close).

UPDATE 02/26.2009

To those that will be coming here in the next couple of weeks and going to the beach,
PLEASE BE AWARE that the beaches are now having man of wars floating up to the beach. You can look it up in case you do not know what they are. Adults and children
not aware how their stings can react, have been known to pick them up due to their beauty and then find it can be very painful and require some attending.

Don't understand why this link won't take you there so you may have to copy and paste --sorry

Hi Shirley

I hear you are the one with all the port canaveral answers.

Someone said there is a sushi place across the street from the Radison, but then they put a question mark. Is there? Being from the midwest, we'd love to start our vacation off with sushi!

We're on the April 4th magic. I'll call you around March 15th for baskets for the kids- is that enough time? I read you only want two weeks - is that right?

Thanks

Mary

Hello Mary,
There is and its called Thai Thai - the food is good and fresh. The one that Norm and I found even better is called Siam Orchid in Cocoa Beach across the street from Doubletree Hotel. I found more interaction with the customers there than at Thai's, but then its all how far you want to travel.
ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Shirley - we are now definitely looking forward to sushi. Let me know if two weeks is not enough time to order baskets

Hello All,
Just wanted to bump this up so that those looking for answers, can look here for it - both Norm and I had the struggles with the crud that has gone around the world and found him and I but at last the sun is out, it is in the 80'S and we are stripped out of our jackets, coats, scarfs, socks, etc - come on down and enjoy this great sunshine -
Happy Thursday to all

Hi Shirley:

Loving this thread and hoping that the warm weather is there to stay because we will be down in 11 days and counting! Can I ask whether you've been back to that new restaurant (Milligan's?) and, if so, whether you felt it had improved? Otherwise, we'll stick with one of your other recommendations.

Thanks!

Hi Shirley!!! For those of you who don't know Shirley or haven't used her services, she is an awesome person and does excellent baskets for your stateroom. It is a little something special when you open the door and there is a basket of goodies waiting for you. Thank you Shirley for all the great information you posted at the beginning of this thread!!!

Shirley can also tell you a lot, and I mean a lot, about Key West.

Charlie from Gainesville FL

Good morning,
Just an alert if you are heading over to Brevard County today (Port Canaveral, Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach) - there is a fire in Port St. John that is causing a quite a problem and a smoky haze over the county and with the shuttle launch going off tonight at 9:30 PM there will be a lot of traffic on the road so just be careful and drive the limit -
If you have any breathing issues, remember we are having an issue with smoke.

The shuttle launching has been scrubbed for tonight - there are sure a lot of disappointed folks here, but better safe than sorry.

UPDATE AND IT IS FINALLY OFFICIAL:
On March 21st at 10 AM the new Dinosaur Store is opening up - I got a chance to look at it tonight and it is going to be unbelievable - Now the only concern is that small children may be taken back by the giant statues of these dinosaurs for they are so real looking, but it is also full of so much stuff involving history.
Anyhow just thought I would give you a heads up

Shirley, just wanted to let you know that the LaQuinta link doesn't work.

Just sent a link to this thread to my brother, who will probably be driving down in September before our cruise. The lucky dog is officially retired this month and will get to take as long as he wants (can) for this trip!

.

Hi Shirley, Thanks for all the great info! Do you know if Ron Jon's has a day pass? We have a late flight 7pm when we get off the Magic on May 2 and thought it might be nice to go there and relax. I have DD 10 and DS 5. We were also thinking of KSC but I don't know if I will have the strength. I know the Hyatt MCO has day rooms, might do that, then I don't have to worry about being late to the airport. How is traffic back to MCO on sat afternoon???

Looking for a recommendaton for a reasonably priced "nice" hotel for 1 night prior to our Wonder cruise. We will be driving up the afternoon before the cruise from South Florida. Dh and I want to be fairly close to the port area. But we don't have to be right next to it & don't care about having a view of the ship in the morning.

5-21-09 ETA: Ok, I guess it was a dumb question, but I still don't know what hotel to book for 1 night prior to the cruise, arriving late. It would be nice if breakfast was included in the price. Oh well, I'll keep looking.

The Inn at Cocoa Beach looks lovely. How far is it from the port? Any reviews?

The Hilton also looks good with a AAA rate. Plus we are Hilton Honors members and also may be able to get Delta points with them.

I am so sorry that I haven't been on this board or thread as I had been -
Anyhow stuff is back to "normal" and will be more on the alert as to what is going on here and will post it on this thread.
I have updated the list as for the Key West information that got lost, the new law concerning seat belts (which has a HIGH FINE) etc.
Hope you will keep enjoying this thread.
Norm and I will be leaving next Friday for "home". The classes from the 40's through the 60's are having what is being called "Our Last Dance" since the extreme high expense to go back home for our reunions has gone out of sight and there is only a handful left of the old "conchs" who will finish their days on our island. It is going to be great to see everyone since we all keep in touch by email and then our once a year conch reunion in St. Pete. This event has its good and its sorrow for we will take our memories of "how our island once was" and yet the sorrow, life and progress goes on.
With much love
As always
Shirley and Norm
2 ol' conchs :-)
