Helpful Information For You Updated 03/30/2012

07/24/2008 UPDATE:
OK I know this is going to be hard to believe, but unless you really want to spend $185.00 on a traffic ticket, I would take warning.
I was at the traffic light on the corner of Hwy 520 and A1A and I looked up to see that drivers were being given tickets NOPE THEY WERE NOT WARNINGS
You MUST STOP BEHIND THE WHITE LINE as you wait for the light to change.
My neighbor was 2 feet over the line and got a ticket for $185.00 - went to court and the judge upheld the price of the ticket so be careful while you are here OK?
Just giving you a heads up

Wow! $185 -- unbelievable!

Thanks for the heads up, Shirley.

I'm thinking that this might be a VERY good reason to put my lead footed relatives on DCL busses... :sad2:

Good morning,
Just thought if you are going to Key West anytime soon, you might want to look at this site and see if it will help you decide as to what to do or where to go.
ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello everybody,
There had been discussions about the cleaniness of the Best Western and I went ahead and forwarded a thread that talked about the hotel and I am posting what was answered to my questions. Since I am close enough to check up on it, I did and found their answer creditable. Now remember the decisions are always up to YOU as to where you want to stay, where you want to eat and where you want to go. I am here only to just give suggestions on what I find out OK?
As always
Shirley

Good Afternoon Shirley,

Thank you for keeping us updated on posts to your website. We strive to improve our property and services daily. Since the comments posted in regards to the guest stay at our property in past please note that we have since gone under new management as well as completed a property wide renovation. There was a recent article in regards to bed bugs in the Orlando area, please keep in mind that we are located on Florida’s East Coast. Our property has passed every health inspection since our opening.

The end of 2007 marked the completion of our property wide renovations. Guests can now enjoy our brand new fitness center, a full continental breakfast buffet in our newly remodeled breakfast room, or book one of our brand new two-room suites. The suites are fitted with granite counter-tops throughout, a kitchenette, your choice of a king or two queen beds, a sleeper sofa, and a huge private balcony. The suites also have their own private pool area!

We hope that you will come back to enjoy the new and improved Best Western Ocean Beach Hotel and Suites.

Warm Regards,

Alexis Galarza

I have so much to add on this information board so that it will have more updates - as everyone knows we have been really been under the gun with Fay the TS. She still has her tail end here but by tomorrow, it should be back to NORMAL ;-)
Thanks for the ''bump'' to remind me

Can someone point me to where in this thread I find directions from WDW to the DCL terminal. I know they must be here, but I am missing them somehow. Thanks.

I found this in the DIS DCL FAQ:

Directions to the Port:

Disney Cruise Line
9150 Charles M Rowland Drive
Port Canaveral, FL 32920

From Orlando & WDW:

Take I-75 south to Florida's Turnpike. Take the turnpike south to exit 254. Take the Bee Line Expressway 528 east 50 miles to Cape Canaveral. You will cross two bridges on 528. If you look to the left you should be able to see the ship. At this point follow the route 401 exit for the Disney Terminal.

From MCO:

Follow the airport signs to the North Exit and take the Bee Line Expressway 528 east 43 miles to Cape Canaveral. You will cross two bridges on 528. If you look to the left you should be able to see the ship. At this point follow the route 401 exit for the Disney Terminal.

I know the directions sound scary, but believe me, it is easy and you won't get lost especially once you get past the airport, its a straight shot.

Be aware that the cost of a speeding ticket has gone up THIS HIGH so stay within the limits and you will be fine.

Hi Shirley, How did you guys make out with Fay? We were thinking about you. Teresa

Hello girlfriend,
I was so sick of water that I didn't need to drink any since it seems as I stayed soaked :rotfl2: - I threated my plants that if they so much as started wiltering before 3 days, I would pull them out and stomp them.:lmao:

OK now that the fusteration is over - there was quite a great deal of damage throughout all the county - 2 of my nephews and sister's homes got some flood water, Norm and I were on the roll Thursday due to the fact we had panic calls from some curisers but only had to go out once and help a couple who had a car problem and come to find out, the cable had somehow come off their battery - Norm got it fixed in 2 seconds flat and off we/they went.

In all of my 72 years of life, never ever experienced anything like Fay - my son John in Jacksonville, had a lot of damage at his home but nothing he couldn't get fixed or replaced.

I feel so sad for so many that loss everything and had to find other places to stay. We still have water in a number of places BUT WE FINALLY GOT SUN ALL DAY TODAY. :worship: :worship: :worship:
Tia the 4 legged ''child'' was tired of walking in wind and rain just to do her business - she has been walking around all day with a smile.

Thanks for all the prayers, thanks for all the blessings we all appreciated the kindness and thoughtfulness.
Blessings Always

We were thinking about you all here. We know little about hurricanes, but we do know about floods, rain and winds. It can be horrifying, I know. Glad to hear everything is better. Will continue to think happy thoughts until things are back to normal for you and your four-legged child, as well as your neighbors in the county.

:goodvibes

Mrs. Shirley, glad to hear you guys made it through Fay...she just wouldn't go away, would she?!? She ended up ruining some of my friends' vacations when she headed towards the panhandle, and we're getting some rain from her in Memphis tonight!

If you're dry enough yet, I have a question for you... or anyone else who lives near the port.

We rented a few years ago from National at MCO and dropped off in Cocoa Beach. We're probably going to do it again this year, because I can get the one way rental from National cheaper than I can from Budget or Thrifty (even with the cost of a cab factored in...)

I just don't remember seeing the National place last year when we were in Cocoa Beach! We had rented from Thrifty, but were trying to remember where the National office was, just for comparison's sake as far as proximity to the actual port. Has it moved in the past couple of years?

Also, any idea of the going rate for a cab from the office to the port? I can call in the morning, but thought someone here might know.
