I just received the tickets I ordered on Friday. They are about the size of a credit card but are thin cardboard. Are these valid tickets? They do not have a bar code, but do say 3 day park hopper on the back. I am worried. I do not remember what are tickets looked like on our last trip, but these do not look familar.

The tickets we had last time (that I ordered online at disneyworld.com and took my conf # to the ticket booth and got tickets there) were like a credit card size and really thin cardboard. They took a beating even with me trying to take very good care of them the 4 days we used them! (5 day park hoppers)

Sounds about right-except ours had the strip on the back of them. I wonder how it works without a bar code or magnetic strip on the back?

I also hope that the premium annual pass I will pick up (ordered online but also will-call to get the actual pass) will be better than this- something more durable I hope!!! Can anyone tell me what an annual pass is like?

It is just like your park hopper pass. They give you a little sleeve to hold it in.

They do have a black strip on the back. I did find my old ones and they were plastic and very durable.

All the passes we have used over the last 4 years have been very thin and paper feeling, with a plastic-like coating(I don't know a better way to describe them.) We have mostly used Annual Passes, and hoppers for friends and family we invited, and all the passes were made out of the same material, regardless of where purchased. I have ordered through the disney store, Disney directly(annual pass vouchers), Connections, and once purchased at Wal-Mart in Orlando. We have always pre-purchased our tickets and never do the Length-of-Stay pass, so we have never had passes added to our room key. I will admit that I was a little skeptical of the paper-thin passes, but we have never accidentally ruined or torn one. After our last trip a few weeks ago, I actually tried to rip one up before throwing it away, and couldn't do it! The pass IS durable. The worst thing that can happen is a problem with the magnetic strip on the back.

Thank you. I feel better. You are right, my last ones were added to the room key so that is why they were plastic!

This may sound silly, but if you buy tickets from a non-disney source, what recourse do you have if they get lost. For example, we just bought our 3 day park hoppers from Central Florida Travel. My plan was to copy the back of the card which had the serial numbers on it. I haven't seen the tickets yet so I don't even know if they have serial numbers. The tip I read months ago on the board was to photo copy your tickets in case they get lost. If they get lost, heaven forbid, will Disney replace them? Has anyone had a problem in this area before?

My dh left one of our 7 day passes in a fast pass machine on the first day we were there. We went to customer service and they were able to figure out what the pass number was by looking at our other 3 passes and where we had last used them. They gave us a new pass to replace the lost one. We were very happy because there were 6 days and all the pluses left on the pass. We did not have a copy of the pass or a receipt. Disney really took care of us. Somehow, the CM could tell we had bought it from a discount broker. She was extremely accommodating.

Okay so it IS a paper ticket?
Lovely..... I need to buy something to put that in because it sure doesn't seem all the durable to me. I will not test it on our park hoppers though because they all have one day left on them! (they are looking pretty sad even just going thru 4 days using them! LOL)

It sounds like you are describing Teslin. If so, it's more durable than you may think. And much easier to work with than the standard PVC cards that things such as credit cards etc are printed on.
