I'm planning another trip to Disney. We just had a baby and we have a three year old. Here is my dillema. We are debating to either go in May (when the baby is 6 months old) or in December (when she is one). I would welcome any comments or opinions as to whether it is easier to travel with a 6 month old or a one year old. I would also be interested in comments about May vs. December in terms of crowds and weather. Finally, we are considering the FW cabins or the WL. I would like opinions from any experts about these resorts with two young kids. Thanks.

i think you would get better answer on the family board.

but I think there is not alot of difference in a 6 mo to 1 year. She will still be in diapers - I would think the 6 month old - just because she won't be able to walk - another words get out of the stroller why you are paying attention to your other child.

both will be a problem.

I would stay in a monrail resort. Either the Cont or Polyn. the monrail will be a life savers when one of the kids starts crying and it is nap time. Nothing can get you back to your resort faster than the monrail.

I know Cont or Polyn can be more expensive than WL. but believe me with small children you need the monrail.

Thanks for the info. I didn't even know there was a family board. You learn something every day :)

if these resorts are too much for your budget and I can definitely understand.

then I would go with either POR - a moderate.

or POP - a value resort.

we got better bus service at Pop than at any of the deluxe resorts. Of course with a stroller (or two) - buses can be a problem - you have fold up the stroller and everything.

I know when our baby was younger, it was easier on us. He napped where ever he was. I could nurse him on demand. We were able to ride what ever we wanted with him in tow.

Last trip, he ate "real" food. We couldn't take him on rides he was afraid of....he was also afraid of characters. The best thing about taking him when he was a year older, was that he enjoyed WDW more. He loved running all over our room at CBR.

I would take WL over the cabins...the cabins are harder to get around just to get to the transportation to take you to the parks. I would consider either cash or renting points from a DVC member for a WL Villa. I think the refrid. & microwave will really help you. I think the boat access to MK is great and just as easy as a monorail resort.

As for time, you know your family best. December is nice because of the decorations. If you do May I would go early before schools are out. May might be a little easier on you in terms of clothing in layers.

Happy travels
Sandy

I would definitely opt for the trip with a 6 month old as opposed to a 1 year old - when they are likely to be mobile, and want OUT! Six month olds are usually satisfied to sit in the stroller and just take it all in - and will sleep more!

Have fun!
