We just made Res. for OKW in Jan. and I have been unable to find out what the park hours are going to be that time of year I have also heard that the pools and water parks are closed that time of year I am trying to make a budget but It will be hard without knowing what is open and what is not can anyone give me a suggestion. This is our first trip as new DVC owners.
Thanks

It is my understanding that as long as its not below freezing, at least ONE of the water parks will be open (now - every time I say something like this - turns out someone else that knows better than me will have much better details - so I am just trying to get you more info ;) )

One thing to remember is that by going in January, the lines will be considerably lower than other times of the year, so your time you spend in the parks doesn't have to be as long to get in the same number of rides. SOOOO, even though the hours are shorter, you will get a full day in!

Hopefully this will help!

The pools and water parks are definitely NOT closed at that time of year. There is always at least one water park open every day, subject of course to an unanticipated problem. Generally one of the water parks is closed to rehab at any given time in the winter. Because they superheat the water (I believe it is 92 degrees as I recall), you can have a pleasant day (at least in the water) no matter the temperature. We were at TL on New Year's Day in 2002 and the place was empty. The air temp was low to mid 60's and the concrete was cold, but it was very comfortable in the water and in the sun.

January hours don't vary much - you can get a good idea (for planning) by looking at January, 2005 hours. Just remember to adjust for the Holidays and weekends - the later hours for certain dates are because of the NY/MLK Holiday or because the date is a Saturday. This goes for the parades and shows, too.

Janaury 2005 Hours

Best wishes -

Barring any changes in prior patterns, AK will be open 9-5 daily and Epcot will be 9-9 (Future World 9-7, World Showcase 11-9). EMH will extend those hours on certain days.

MK and MGM will both open at 9am daily and the absolute earliest closure would be around 7pm.

When the parks close early we love to head to Downtown Disney, which will be open well into the night (11pm?) daily.

We've been in Dec/Jan/Feb when the weather was too cold for the water parks or pools - and also when it was plenty warm. It just depends. Be prepared for either. But it's Disney World! There are plenty of other things to do. DTD, Disney Quest, DVC Community Hall, petting park at FW. Or hop back to a park and take in an extra afternoon parade.
