ok this is girls scout leader 's doughter and i need some help,
ok she(our leader) is spending a lot of time and effort to put this cruis together. we(our troop) want to do something a lil extra...something special to make this cruis something that she will rember i need all the sugestions i can get. even the sillyest of sugestions we want to here. thanx. and rember in life is nice to just spred a lil pixy dust!!!

What a great thing to do for your Mom!!


Here are some suggestions :

- Some Spa treatments

- Have them make a big fuss during one of the suppers..bring out a special cake to thank her.

- Have a T-shirt signed by all the characters as well as all the girls in your troop to say Thank You. ( Take a blank T-shirt to guest services with a Sharpie marker during the beginning of the cruise and then go pick it up..not too sure if they still offer this on the ship but good to try.) ( Another thing you can do is take a picture of all the girls in the troop and iron it onto the T-shirt and then have all your troop sign it..you can even do a pillow case.)

- Have a Basket sent to her filled with goodies from the "perfect gift".

- Purchase something that you know she will always cherish from one of the ports and have a card signed by everyone with their Thanks.

You all sound like a terrific group of girls..and I am sure just the thought ..she will truly appreciate!!!

I'd second the idea of something you and the cast members sign...pillowcase, t-shirt, sweatshirt. One of my most treasured items is a similar sweatshirt; it reminds of the group and the even, and I always get wonderful comments when I wear it! The one other idea I can think of is if your mom collects something in particular (tea cups, a specific animal, music boxes, spoons...whatever), you could look for that item as you travel; I'm sure it would always be a very special part of her collection.

I second the idea of a spa treatment! Like you said, it will indeed mean a lot of time and effort for her to put this trip together and to coordinate the whole thing througout the cruise. Maybe something like that, just to give her a break and to pamper HER!

I am sure that you can order some kind of Gift Certificate or something thru DCL... I am not sure how. But surely somebody here could give you step by step instructions.

Remember, if you think your mom would like a spa treatment, Reservations should be made as soon as possible on that first day after boarding. So, this should be presented to her right away, if not beforehand.

All these ideas so far are wonderful!!

If your mom hasn't seen this thread, and you want to delete it. I am not sure if you can hit edit then delete on your original post. If not, you can probably send a message to a moderator like webmaster michelle, and she can delete it!

you guys are so much help and i talked w/ her and we made a deal...i do dishes for a week if she please stay off the boards for a week...well i hope she holds up her end of her bargen...of by the way she collects chickens....dont know is you cant then on the ship!!!lol

What a great daughter! Everyone has great ideas to treat your Mom while on the ship. If you get her a spa treatment the Ladies Night Out Spa Taster sounds great to me. I'm going to see if I can do that on our cruise in May. Be sure to have everyone's picture taken by Disney during the cruise. You could get an 8x10 of the whole group. Also, if there are going to be two or more adults on the cruise you might see about getting reservations at Palo for them one night. Or you might see about having a gift basket in her room when she arrives. You can order them through Disney and a number of other places ahead of time. Call DCL ahead of time and tell them of your plan to treat your Mom and they may be able to come up with something special for her too. I've been racking my brain trying to think of something that you could do with chickens, but haven't come up with anything. I guess you could have a chicken in a gift basket for her.

I hope your Mom appreciates you - but then again, if she didn't, you wouldn't have gne through all this to surprise her.

one other thing - when you talk to dcl - maybe you can have the cruise director mention something during one of his talks that you'll all be there for -

With security going on around the ships lately you may want to use Gifts Ahoy which is DCL 1-800-601-8455. They offer flower arrrangements, and gifts. You can also purchase your Mom an onbaord credit so she can use the credit on anything she pleases to. The onboard credits can be purchased in denominations of $25.00 or more. A gift card will be delivered to her stateroom.

Another hint...when you do call DCL it would help them more readily if you had your resevervation number handy. They can search by last name, but it is much easier for them if you have the reservation number.

I am sure they have those aliens from Toy Story at WDW shops and there is a WDW merchandise order number, but I do not have it on me. Your local Disney Store would have it. The only thing is if you were to order from WDW you need to use a credit card....can another adult possibly help you out with this part?

I know there was one thing she brought up and discussed in an earlier post. She was hoping to have a picture taken on the trip with all of you in uniform.

Yep, I know - uniforms yuck! (My Cadettes say the same thing) But if you could talk the rest of the girls into bringing their vests/sashes at least and having one of the formal portraits taken that way the 8x10 would make a wonderful gift for her.

Your mom and I have also emailed a couple of times as my troop and I are across the state from you. My girls are a little younger though.

Sounds from all her posts like you have a pretty good troop.

I just want to say that from another GSL's perspective - this is an awesome way not only to honor your mom but to say thanks!!!! As I leader I can't tell you how good that is going to make her feel. There are some awesome suggestions on here but you could also get her a placque made before you go and see if you can present it to her at the last dinner or something.

If you read the threads on this board you will see that there are two people that have created/designed awesome tshirts for their cruise. Try to contact one of them and see if they would be willing to design a custom made cruise shirt for your mom from the girls. (ofcourse you would cover the cost)

Also --- remember to ask a moderator to delete this thread before your mom comes back to the board again. You wouldn't want to spoil the surprise!
